Sometimes it’s too much hassle for the sheriffs to bring someone to the courtroom, and they ask the attorneys to ask their client if he will waive his appearance so they don’t have to do it. She did not "go there" - she simply got on the train, was going to ride it to the last stop, and once it had been cleaned and was back in service, she would have ridden it to the opposite end of the line and repeated the process. That is what most homeless people do, especially in cold or hot weather - they keep warm or cool. Lots of them do that because they feel that the city shelters are too dangerous to stay in; there was a security guard stabbed to death at a Brooklyn shelter this morning. Sometimes it’s too much hassle for the sheriffs to bring someone to the courtroom, and they ask the attorneys to ask their client if he will waive his appearance so they don’t have to do it. Cameras in the courtroom also create a big hassle for everyone in the building, and it can be kind of satisfying not to let them get the footage they came for.

Not at the last stop on the train - the police video shows that they were the last 2 people on there - otherwise he probably wouldn't have done it. People will keep quiet about a lot of things, but I don't think seeing one person set another one on fire would be one of them. There would be a whole lot of commotion. Even if somebody pulled the emergency break on a non-moving train, it would still have to be checked out.

She did not "go there" - she simply got on the train, was going to ride it to the last stop, and once it had been cleaned and was back in service, she would have ridden it to the opposite end of the line and repeated the process. That is what most homeless people do, especially in cold or hot weather - they keep warm or cool. Lots of them do that because they feel that the city shelters are too dangerous to stay in; there was a security guard stabbed to death at a Brooklyn shelter this morning.
