I could never understand this tale: Why would a young woman, let alone a princess, be sent to travel to a distant kingdom with only one female companion? You’d think she’d have an entourage of servants and an armed escort. But I thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful stained-glass-like illustrations!

      Thank you!
Very much agree, maybe that is the true message and learning of this fairytale
"never travel without a big entourage if you are a princess" as then none of the terrible misery would have happened and the poor horse would still be alive. :)

If you travel alone your companion could be a psycopath who tries to harm you. If treachery is commited against you, the truth will come out and the psycopath destroys themselves. Dont be the chamber girl, and be wary of chamber girls as roadside companions. Pscopathy isnt a good long term solution

This story is not about that… you miss the point entirely.
It’s about the sadness and tragedy of the horse, who spoke to her from beyond.

I am more sad about the horse than the events of the princess

Thank you. For those here who don’t get the point of the tale, it’s the blood and sacrifice of the horse that haunts us.

Every fairy tale should have a happy ending!! I'm really sad. (This is from a seven-year-old.) The horse should be alive! You should change the story and make sure the horse is alive!

What a sweet comment. You're right - it would be really nice if there was always a happy ending. We love the horse too ❤
