I'll hold my hands up and take some of what I said back. I went and tried the 917 Drivers today, and there is a night and day improvement in all departments over the 915. Mightily impressed actually. I've ordered one! So there.
You're are entirely entitled to doubt what you like, but I had the 915 and the 917 is a huge improvement over the 915, and yes, I was fit for the 915 at the Titleist National Fitting centre. The ball speeds were 3 mph higher with the 917, spin rates were 300-400rpm lower and the feel off the face is so much better....yes, I think that constitutes as night and day! For me anyway.
If you did not test them with the same head (D2/D3 as suited to the 915/917), shaft, adjustment, and loft then you cannot say without a doubt there is a "night and day" difference. There are too many parameters to take into account to have a clear, accurate, and precise conclusion. If you would have said there was a noticeable improvement, that would be more realistic. However, a "night and day" difference is unlikely after a two year "refresh" cycle.
You obviously do not understand how fittings are done, and more especially how they should be judged when talking about comparisons. As an ex Pro myself with hundreds of fittings under my belt, I'm fairly well qualified to give you some explanation. You cannot compare same shaft scenarios because different shafts give different results in different heads because some heads will perform better for some people with some shafts than others. The head of the golf club is king not the shaft. For example, just because a Diamama D+ 70 Stiff shaft performs well for somebody in a 915D2 head does not mean it will perform equally as well for the same person in the 917D2, as heads are different with different launch characteristics, weight distributions, and MOI's. Therefore in order to properly compare two iterations, a given golfer must first get fit as well as possible with both heads, and this does not mean necessarily the same shaft for the above reasons. As long as a good fitting is done for the two different heads the shafts are irrelevant. to the equation and comparison Only then can the two be compared, and I can tell you categorically, that for me, with a good fitting for the 915 and a good one for the 917, the 917 had 3mph more ball speed, 300-400 rpm less spin, 1.2* higher launch angle, and a far better feel, off the face 9 yards more carry and 12 yards more total distance, and that is my definition of 'night and day' at my standard of play. If it's not yours, that's fine and your prerogative, or if others do not find the same improvements that's fine with me too, I would respect their personal findings but I would be grateful if you offered me the same respect and do not try and tell me what my personal definitions are or should be. Thanks.
JAG sixtfive, Question for you ? I am so dam confused and i feel like i am pretty knowledgeable... I bought a G30 but they never fit me, so after I watched this video I am left with so much doubt ! I bought a 12 Degree driver with a stock shaft and now I'm wondering is it possible that the shaft is killing me ? the 12 degree's could be killing me ? Please any advice
This guy contradicts himself so many times it's embarrassing. He says the guy he is fitting needs a fade setting yet mentions about the weight going in the heel! Yeah, that'll help! Then mentions early on that if people have the 915 that going over over to the 917 they may need more loft, yet later in the vid he says that in the 917, they've seen launch angles go up? Not the most consistent of comments.
My God, the guy in the video has the ugliest swing .. and I had to close my eyes when they kept showing it, while trying to process the audio info from the fitter. Next time, maybe use a golfer who's swing is one we can relate to?

JAG sixtyfive night and day difference? I truly doubt that. You never see a dramatic technology change in 2 years.

the guy getting fitted in orange reminded me of the dutch tour pro Joost Luiten. both similar swing and body type.
This Is a Titleist employee? He just set the guy up for a draw while thinking he was setting him up for fade...
great vid
£400 for the driver £250 for the fairway, and preforms the same as the 915!

JAG sixtyfive agree with you
Will never trust any custom fitter
the price on these are ridiculous
I know. Same price as the TM M1 and Callaway 816 DBD. Terrible.
When you talk with somebody, try to take out your hand from your pants. It not cold
