It’s great to learn that Japanese society is not so strict. I did have the impression that there were lots of rules. However, I still here from other RUclips channels that document life in Japan that there are still “customs” in the workplace that foreigners working in Japan have to adjust to: like asking your “senpai” out to lunch, bringing gifts back from your vacation for your work group, not leaving work until your boss, or co worker, is ready to leave, etc.
I'm so glad I stumbled upon your channel way back at the beginning of the year. This was genuinely entertaining and informative as always. And you're editing work improves every single video. Sugoi!

I agree. I didn't mind the sound of the chinese language (there are a lot of chinese speakers in my area in Canada), but I wasn't particularly fond of it. After watching these, I find it fascinating, and now have a strong inclination to learn it!

Thanks for another great vid. It might be interesting showing a comparison of the Orient vs. Occident work ethic. Many firms in Japan still start the work day with exercises designed to create a bond between the staff as well as creating a mindset conducive with a hard days work. Getting workers in the US or UK (especially construction or metal workers), to do the same, would be I believe impossible. In this regard, I believe that the oriental method is superior.

I'm really enjoying this travelogue style of video - it really gives such a rich, well-informed picture of Japan. The only thing I'd say is to perhaps pace out the voiceovers a little bit more - some of them were a bit quick, which could make them more difficult to follow for non-native English speakers (as well as making cutting between sentences more difficult in the edit).

I saw a Japanese man snacking something inside the subway train, we in Singapore are not allowed to consume any food in the train, not even drinking water as you will get fine for up to S$500. My country is well known as a ‘ fine’ city, have said that, getting fined is a very rare occurrence, and the good thing is that our trains are always clean. Cheers!
Ohhhh I loved this because of the explanation of culture! Well done 👍 and it has to be one , if not the best, video you have done 😎. They are getting so flowing now🖖
Thanks so much. I just wish my subs took more of an interest in these kinds of videos. They never perform well. I have the wrong audience for these kinds of videos.
Thank you for giving some insights on what’s outside Tokyo. It would be great to have the opportunity to get some first hand experience but I’ve accepted that it won’t be an option for quite some time so it’s very nice to see your perspective.
Oriental Pearl oh no doubt. Covid is making it pretty difficult. I had a trip planned for July but I’m guessing that it’s going to be somewhere around July next year. No vaccine means losing 2 weeks because of quarantine.
hope youre doing well. Read an article about japan lifting travel ban soon and thought about you going back to china (think thats where you said school was). ill miss the japan videos when that happens but glad you can go back home
Too much cultural shock for me but I will continue to visit. Nicely edited upload even made me tingle when you were so close to the edges of those hills.
I love all your videos! I moved here almost a year ago and I knew little to nothing about the country, the people, the culture, and the language. I have fallen in love with all the aspects of this beautiful country. I haven’t gotten a chance to travel past the Tohoku region because of COVID but I have traveled all over northern Japan and it’s so beautiful and quaint. I would have never imagined it being so peaceful because all I have seen is “city life” (Tokyo) on television. I would advise people to really see Japan outside of the city life like you mentioned. It’s really amazing and I have learned so much in a year :)
I only subscribed to you recently, but I am really enjoying your videos so far and learning more about some of your different cultural experiences! I also got a little excited when I heard you were a fellow Michigander. :) I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos and hope you're staying healthy and safe!
As a Londoner, I know how foreigners don't understand that London isn't England, so I immediately empathised that Tokyo isn't Japan. Sometimes I think that the really big rich cities have more in common with each other than they do with their national cultures.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Chinese also sleep on hard surfaces. Technically they have beds, yeah, but they are almost as hard as a floor, so I have to put two thick blankets to make mine usable for a non-Asian.
You guys have it easy. When I was 10, escaping the Commies from Vietnam with my grandma in 1979, we were house on a refuge island in Malaysia. I slept on a plank of plywood. My grandpa was a filthy rich banker. He had a car when most ppl had bicycles. We lost it all when the VC took over Saigon. Westerners now know it as HCMC (Ho Chi Minh City).
Apartments in China *at least in Beijing* come with furnishings usually. A bed is usually included. Unlike Japan where the apt is empty *including the light..you have to buy your own ceiling light fixture and remove it when you leave* China does have traditional sleeping rooms where you sleep on the floor but usually beds lol Japan it's normal to sleep on the floor *futon or futon style folding bed*
As a Michigander, I laughed a little when you said that. The “wave at the person you don’t know bc they’re in your neighborhood” thing was the first thought I had.
It looks quite suburban to me and doesn't seem rural or "countryside" more like a small city and quite close to the city center at that. In the US I like to use the number of stoplights as a measuring tool, 1 - 5, Rural Boondocks, 5- 10, developed town. I bet you could use the train stop frequency to measure how rural the area is. If you are still getting a train every hour than it's probably not Rural yet just a suburban commuter town.
Even though I grew up in Tokyo, I had relatives who lived in Utsunomiya and visited them often. I hope you had some gyoza and visited Nikko while you were there.
I was surprised by what is considered countryside. What I saw would be called wasteground where I live meaning broken and undeveloped (or previously developed but no longer in use), not a natural untouched piece of land. Makes me feel both fortunate and sad.
"Leave the city" O....... where literally no one speaks English at ALL😅 I get to go to Tokyo for study abroad architecture. Wish me luck all 😬 It was already delayed to this coming semester due to Corona V. Sucks.... but... it'll be worth it.
Thb the country side of Japan kind of looks like a mix between Brampton and Barrie. I used to live in Toronto but moved to Brampton. I used to hate how far things where in Brampton compared to Toronto but now I don't mind it since I been living up here for a few years. I visited Barrie 3 times. If you ever vist Ontario Canada during the summer vist Berry it's beautiful. There is farm land for miles and the lake up there is vary nice. It's almost as nice as Niagara but less noisy vary peaceful tho if you ever want to vist anywhere up there you WILL need a car xD.
Man, I really want to learn chinese but starting right off with kanji and the weird pronounciation that I'm not used to is pretty crazy, but it sounds so amazing
Thank you once again. The videos seem more professional somehow, so not sure if you have changed equipment. Although as always i enjoy your videos, i did not think that today's countryside was all that special or pretty. I guess living in New Zealand means that my expectations when it comes to beautiful countryside are very high. Maybe its more beautiful when you are there. Thanks again
The equipment is the same. Some of the older videos are reaction videos when I can’t hold the camera properly because it’s supposed to get people’s true reaction.
@@OrientalPearl thanks. i love your videos because its so different when you live in a different country rather than just on a visit. I have now lived in 6 countries and visited over 30. Keep up the good work!
I am half Thai so I am not surprised they have put you on the floor, but I am so used to my/a bed that I have troubles sleeping without. I think it is a "true" for so many large countries to leave the big city/cities to experience the real country. I've never been in the US, but when your view of the country only would be NYC, I think you will miss a lot of the beautiful country. This aside, I like the truthfullness and the honesty of the film. Personal question: "how" did you fell in love with your first Asian bf, because #prejudicefrommyside, aren't it mainly "Caucasian" people? Keep up the nice vids, I like them very much. I also try every time a go to a country, to know at least to say hello in their own language, you see that people appreciate it. Grts
I have slept in different places (including the floor) before, but that was decades ago in my teens and 20's. I'm 56, and I need my nice comfortable bed now. I do like the countryside, and apart from the Japanese signs around it does look a bit like some of the rural places I've seen in England

Thank you Spain!
Hi
I'm Japanese🇯🇵
Ur Japanese is amazing fluently!!!!!!!!!!
It's a great video!!
Thank you for watching! I’ll make more videos about Japan!
Another very enjoyable and interesting video! Great work! Appreciate all you do!
Glad you enjoyed it
I saw a Japanese man snacking something inside the subway train, we in Singapore are not allowed to consume any food in the train, not even drinking water as you will get fine for up to S$500. My country is well known as a ‘ fine’ city, have said that, getting fined is a very rare occurrence, and the good thing is that our trains are always clean. Cheers!
Wow, that's a huge fine. I've heard that there's a fine for spitting too.
Oriental Pearl that is such a pity ! I do love them because they are so natural and in that, different to the run of the mill! 🖖
Awesome video 😉
I want to go to Japan and explore Mount fuji
Thank you for the video. Take care be safe. Spin
Thank you for watching!
Big support to Amazing beautiful Cha-paningualist 🇨🇳🇯🇵 👍 from Korea 🇰🇷 😀 I can also speak these three languages too! 🤣
Korean LangOppa 언어탐닉 You’re awesome. I want to learn Korean soon.
Oriental Pearl 本当ですか?😯 那你开始学韩文吧😁🇰🇷💪
Great video, very informative as always👍
Glad you enjoyed it
I love the content of your videos, well done.👍
Thank you very much!
Futons were such a trend in the west, but as you say, the western version wasn't quite so basic. Thanks for the thought-provoking video.
Thanks so much! I hope it was full of some helpful info.
Thank you for giving some insights on what’s outside Tokyo. It would be great to have the opportunity to get some first hand experience but I’ve accepted that it won’t be an option for quite some time so it’s very nice to see your perspective.
Never say never right. Maybe fate with bring you here one day.
Oriental Pearl oh no doubt. Covid is making it pretty difficult. I had a trip planned for July but I’m guessing that it’s going to be somewhere around July next year. No vaccine means losing 2 weeks because of quarantine.
Learning Japanese: exist
Anime watchers: *I don't need subtitles anymore*
HHAHAHHAHA
hope youre doing well. Read an article about japan lifting travel ban soon and thought about you going back to china (think thats where you said school was). ill miss the japan videos when that happens but glad you can go back home
Japan is a lot more reasonable. All international students have been able to return since October 1st. But not China.
Too much cultural shock for me but I will continue to visit. Nicely edited upload even made me tingle when you were so close to the edges of those hills.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice music idea ... Beethoven ... "Alle Menschen werden Brüder..."
Love it
Thanks. I enjoyed editing that part.
Thank you so much for watching all of the videos! Yes if possible travelers should check out the countryside.
Hey I’m from Michigan too! My family moves around the country a lot but I was born in Michigan :) I love your videos by the way!
Yeah Michigan!
Great video! This was so interesting! 👍 I am such a big fan! 😊
Awesome! Thank you for being a fan!
I love the hat you were wearing on the train. Your videos are always so interesting and informative!
Thanks you so much! I have a hat similar to that here in Japan still.
I only subscribed to you recently, but I am really enjoying your videos so far and learning more about some of your different cultural experiences! I also got a little excited when I heard you were a fellow Michigander. :) I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos and hope you're staying healthy and safe!
Thanks a million for sharing once again Anming! I love these videos and always check to see if there's new content
Thanks so much for watching and checking.
I think Japan suits you as a place to settle down with your life now.....travelling(when allowed again) as a bonus. Take care "Anming"...
I'm not really qualified to work here though. At least not the kind of job I want.
Big hugs from Western Wayne County!
Michigan has come to visit!
As a Londoner, I know how foreigners don't understand that London isn't England, so I immediately empathised that Tokyo isn't Japan. Sometimes I think that the really big rich cities have more in common with each other than they do with their national cultures.
I love all ur videos and I love you toooo!!💖💖🥺
So you're from Michigan. How nice. I know a person from Jackson. I'm a new subscriber from Brazil.
I love your videos.
Thank you so much!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Chinese also sleep on hard surfaces. Technically they have beds, yeah, but they are almost as hard as a floor, so I have to put two thick blankets to make mine usable for a non-Asian.
The beds are really hard in China, but sleeping on the floor is not a thing.
Not to mention the wooden head rests I've seen in documentaries.
@@ivanleterror9158 What's a wooden headrest?
I was so nervous sleeping on a futon when I went to Japan. They are super comfortable.
As a Michigander, I laughed a little when you said that. The “wave at the person you don’t know bc they’re in your neighborhood” thing was the first thought I had.
こんにちは〜
I love your great videos very much ❤️
It looks quite suburban to me and doesn't seem rural or "countryside" more like a small city and quite close to the city center at that.
Ha ha, it's pretty rural for Japan. That's way on the outskirts of Utsunomiya.
Even though I grew up in Tokyo, I had relatives who lived in Utsunomiya and visited them often. I hope you had some gyoza and visited Nikko while you were there.
Wow the countryside looks so peaceful! I would rather live there than in the big city :)
I was surprised by what is considered countryside. What I saw would be called wasteground where I live meaning broken and undeveloped (or previously developed but no longer in use), not a natural untouched piece of land. Makes me feel both fortunate and sad.
"Leave the city"
O....... where literally no one speaks English at ALL😅
I get to go to Tokyo for study abroad architecture. Wish me luck all 😬 It was already delayed to this coming semester due to Corona V. Sucks.... but... it'll be worth it.
That’s why I put the links to Japanese audio lessons in the description lol
Thb the country side of Japan kind of looks like a mix between Brampton and Barrie. I used to live in Toronto but moved to Brampton. I used to hate how far things where in Brampton compared to Toronto but now I don't mind it since I been living up here for a few years. I visited Barrie 3 times. If you ever vist Ontario Canada during the summer vist Berry it's beautiful. There is farm land for miles and the lake up there is vary nice. It's almost as nice as Niagara but less noisy vary peaceful tho if you ever want to vist anywhere up there you WILL need a car xD.
Good video I feel better already. :-)
I'm so glad!
Another update again💜💜💜
I hope everyone likes the new videos.
Man, I really want to learn chinese but starting right off with kanji and the weird pronounciation that I'm not used to is pretty crazy, but it sounds so amazing
Ur vibe makes me giggle
Keep up the good work!
wow, nice video. keep it up!
I'm surprised to see people in their 70s and up still sleeping on the floor with no problem.
@@OrientalPearl That's because the media brainwashes us with ageist crap and has done since the 1850s.
7:29 introducing Japan's country side with.... The European Union's hymn 😅
It's a little ironic. But Japan loves Germany.
@@OrientalPearl That's ironic and strange. Anyway that version of the Anthem of Joy was pretty epic therefore it wasn't a bad choice IMO.
Just think of the treasures that could be found in the country side! 😊 i.e people, places, etc
