A.I. Technology changing Agriculture

- Technology never ceases to amaze as it continuously evolves. Never would I have thought that we would be able to see how healthy our soil is and the available nutrients to our crops instantly. Soil sampling has been a process that takes time to and money to see the results now ChrysaLabs has changed that.

iowANFarmer, Ben Van Roekel, is a 2nd generation farmer in southern Iowa. His goal on RUclips is to showcase what young farmers have to offer to the agricultural community. He hopes to give the general public a glimpse into what life is like on an American corn, soybean, and hay operation. The channel will focus on farming equipment, repairs, precision ag, and daily operations on the farm. Join him in his daily trials and tribulations in the changing agricultural environment.

Thank you!! You're amazing at demonstrating the actual challenges and been fluent with the new tech!
Happy to hear that!
I really liked the foundation look on the soil information. Helped me better understand the importance and see how things work together.
Glad it was helpful!
Love the knowledge you provide.
Wow! This is groundbreaking! ✨️
I learn so much watching you. Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
The data comes from an optical spectrometer. The spectrometer provides the data for the AI to analyze. A well done spectroscopy solution indeed!
Enjoyed the video Ben 😊
Glad you enjoyed it
Very useful tool, will get one.
Right on! Email support@chrysalabs.com and they can help you out.
Also have a spot in the field that looks better than the rest you can check it out and maybe add something to boost the rest of field.
That will be a fun thing to check out, but right now our biggest nutrient deficiency is H20
@@iowANFarmer we got almost an inch this weekend through Monday. Where I'm at in Michigan we were really dry.
Very interesting
Glad you think so!
👍👍👍👍
Very nice, little pricey for my size operation.
Sounds like an opportunity for a side hustle gig.
It be interesting to see further results in field growth as plants up take nutrients, does it show moisture content?
That’s what I’m wanting to see as well, but right now our greatest deficiency is H20
Still would verify accuracy by taking conventional samples for a side by side review .🗽🇺🇸🚜💯
Correct, that is why send bags to calibrate.
@@iowANFarmer do you calibrate the unit regularly?
How accurate is it. .
If you are going to do more irrigating on the pumpkin patch you might want to try drip lines, like vegetable framers and greenhouses use.
Not sure how we will work on that in the future
We grow about 800 acres of cotton with drip. Works like a champ.
👍👍❤👍👍
Ben. I really hope this device works for you....... I have so many more questions; but I'll wait for your fall report.
support@chrysalabs.com can help you with your questions!
Ah the missing piece 👉 the Price? Also are they using it on mobile sample units ie Utv or Atv for larger farms?
Chat with support@chrysalabs.com they will help you more!
👍👍👍🙏🚜
Hi Ben
Do you think the system will work as far as South Africa and is it an expensive item to buy, because this will work absolutely mint in our operation👌🏻
I would send them an email. See what they have to say!
@iowANFarmer Any updates on this probe? Pros/cons now that you've used it for a while. Do you believe it is ~90% accurate compared to a lab soil sample? Thanks
Did you mention the price for that tester? I believe they rent it for an absurd $10,000 per year. I'll wait a year or two until the competition knocks them down.
Your dad’s uncle Rich would find this fascinating
It would be nice Ben if you right out front told your viewers were the AI technology come from . (CANADA)
There is a big old Canadian flag on the box.
He also states @12:50ish that it's from Canada, hence it reads in Celsius.
did someone mention donuts?
They did!
How much moneys? I don't see a price on their web page.
Chat with support@chrysalabs.com they will price one for you.
Artificial Intelligence 😂 absolutely sounds NEAT ! Sounds like you’re cutting the man behind the camera out of a soil sampling Job😢😢. Thanks BEN !!
Or giving him another tool to provide a quicker service for his customers!
Theranos x2
I'm guessing bulk density is their measurement for soil compaction. Also, 28C = 82F
Probably even warmer today!
This seems like a pretty practical tool but I don’t see much “AI” here unless I’m missing something. One thing right now is every company out there is trying to slap an “AI inside” label every product as customers assume that means better.
The possible areas here where I could see some machine learning used is the “estimated” attributes you saw listed in the app, if there are some properties or suggestions that they are inferring based on the data of the prob, or if they use the data from the probe to infer/update it’s calibration. Just calling it out that the probe, app, and historical data tracking is likely the real value here and the AI piece might be a bit of marketing at this point…
its "AI" because the sample results are based on a soil profile data bank.
support@chrysalabs.com can explain that part of the tech better than I can.
Made in Canada...Eh!
It is!
I do a lot of soil and water sampling for a living. Not for crops but environmental reasons. So guess who gets called to do soil sampling for Dad and brother,,,, the one thing I don’t like about the world of sampling for ag is how they have you send the samples. They tell you they keep without icing them down, we test for nitrates all the time and they have to be iced. They get rejected if it’s not below a certain degree temp. Secondly, I would want to send samples to the lab and see the differences between the old way and that probe. Because I don’t trust any sampling device you can’t calibrate. There’s no way I’d trust that thing to start with. Speaking of labs, you don’t want to see the chaos of a lab. Because it will leave you with doubts about the data. Nasty places 😂. I literally send dads soil samples to a lab in Louisiana just because I know they do it right. It should take more then a few days to get results from 40lbs of soil.
This does N.
@@iowANFarmer I saw. But there is no way I’d trust it. Send off the samples you took and compare them, apples to apples.
June 15 😂
how much does it cost to send in the samples for further CALIBRATION PURPOSES???
(to crosscheck and verify it's accuracy??)
DO YOU GET TO KEEP IT??????? I hope so, would be neet to see you walkin around with it after KNEE HIGH EMERGANCE GROWTH POINT (v7, v8??) and after FLOWERS on beans... checkin diff points int he fields where the colors are OFF and the heights are way off...
do they inlclude a couple CALIBRATION SAMPLE TESTS to ''sight in'' (calibrate) your specific TOOL/UNIT to YOUR SPECIFIC GROUND ??? could be an option that wouldn't cost them MUCH to do IF IT SELLS THE UNIT CUZ THE OLDTIMER DIDNT TRUST THE NUMBERS.... out of the box...
I believe that is paid for.
''hello customer support, I need a shipping label to return the unit for repairs... it __________'ed .......blah blah blah ''
''hello this is customer support.... did you keep all packing materials including the orignal box and other packaging???''
ummmmmmm LOL
Is it accurate tho?
They say that it is!
Alright
I love your videos btw I farm in southwest Iowa
