- This farmer-to-farmer video, developed through funding by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) by CIAT and Agro-Insight, explains in a clear and simple way how to cultivate and manage cassava while preventing soil erosion on sloping land. The videos are prepared to deepen farmer’s understanding of the technical aspects of improved soil management, and at the same time, to prompt discussion within the local context.
As CEO for Blue agro community framers I want thank the entire management for this video which we as organization has learnt a lot about how to plant cassava in a sloppy Land
We hope to get more insight related video.
Thanks Joseph Mustapha koker CEO

Very informatuve and he explained well thank you
Great video lots helpful information. I was using high phosphorus fertilizer on my crop will change fertilize to high potassium
Very glad that the video was useful for you Shiva. Cassava has a very strong association with fungus - mycorrhiza - which help the plant to efficiently gather phosphorus from the soil. The exact fertilizer recommendation will vary depending on many things, including soil type and management, but in Asia a general rule of thumb that is often applied for N-P-K is 2-1-2, so double the Nitrogen and Potassium. Potassium is particularly important for root bulking, so will generally increase yield.
thank you so much for this video ... you had answer many question for me ... thank you ... God bless
sory my english not good, i just want to give information to you in indonesia especially in solo middle java, i have a new kind of cassava "gajah(elephant) cassava" that in one tree can produce min 10 kg the new record can 50kg, if u interst with that i can sell to you in large scale
+MH THAMRIN can you send email for me
+MH THAMRIN elfadilatta@hotmail.com
Ok but I hope you are not planning to sell internationally. That is how diseases are spread from country to country - for example cassava mosaic virus was introduced to Southeast Asia from India/Sri Lanka in 2016.
Much better organic rather than chemical. Its healthy.
Thank you.... Very educative
Glad you found it useful.
Educational*
Very nice basically kassava doesn't need manure
Hi Hassan, cassava is well known as a crop that can still produce relatively high yields even on poor soils with fairly low fertility. However like all crops, harvesting does remove nutrients from the system which need to be replaced for soil sustainability. Manure is a good way to return some nutrients to the system. In cassava nutrient export can be greatly reduced by returning the residues (tops, stems, sometimes peels) to the field after harvesting the roots.
Nice!
Great 👍
Thanks Josiah, hope it is helpful.
wow very nice is cassaba ok thank you
How do you fertilize cassava ? And at what time ?
The video gives some advice. There are different applications in different soils, but in general I recommend a split application, half at planting or in the first month, the other half a little bit later (3 months). Watch the video for advice on fertilizer type - it should be high in K and low in P for most soils.
It is high labor cost for planting and harvesting. We have the mechanized equipment to save labor cost, such as cassava planter, cassava harvester for sale. We are specialized in cassava planting mechanized equipment.
Where is that?
Cassava planting and harvesting machinery is in regular use in several place including central Thailand. However none of this machinery is currently adapted for use on steep slopes.
Adding fertilizer kills the microbiome of the soil that why you need ti u=increase the amount of fertilizer.
You need to add the beneficial microbs. such as bacillus and mycorrhyza....
Overuse of fertilizer can certainly harm the soil, especially through acidification. This is particularly problematic in Southeast Asia, where most cassava is grown on acid upland soils. Adding manure and incorporating organic residues into the soil are ways to maintain a healthy soil microbiome. Crop rotation with legumes has also been show to have a good effect. Synthetic fertilizers can still give good results if applied responsibly and in combination with other soil fertility management practices as discussed in this video.
Montagnard indigenous Central highland when we lack of rice we eat cassava roots, we eat the leaf that how we survive.
Thank you Jeremy, this is very interesting. Cassava leaves are also an important food product in Africa, and in the Carribean, where you can even buy packaged frozen cassava leaves in the grocery store!
Just wait til they unlock interplanting.
2nd video in the series: using grass strips to control soil erosion ruclips.net/video/FgK0M1u3v2o/видео.html
It sucks that casava looks like marjuana..the good thing is that florida has leh
legalized weed so I shouldn't have a problem
filipino or not
Thailand
ok thanks
But the same practices apply in Philippines!
