I wonder if the bigger play here is for big labels to control the tech. Its not about the money per se, but the control of the future of music generation. I'd see a settlement happening, labels take a part ownership or licencing deal, and Suno and Udio have access to build models for each label using their full fidelity catalogues as source training data.
Remember how the labels went crazy to own the streaming tech narrative and now are shareholders of Spotify etc. same thing IMO.

It was stated by "Rick Beato" that the labels will be using their own AI and this law suite is to cut out anyone from doing the same thing. The music industry is a dinosaur and run by them, all their artists should be worried and should start their own law suit against the labels (which will probably happen)

I asked the question of an AI company CEO about getting personally trained AI, and his answer, and what I learned since then, is that there isn't enough data from one individual for training AI. AI training data, is literally BILLIONS of points of data, so AI can't be trained even on the largest libraries of a single artist. So that's the limitation. I would LOVE to have a personally trained AI, I think it would be great to have one trained specific to me, but because of that limitation, that will almost never happen, or at least won't until there's some change to training computational algorithms, and how they function.

So the reason for this so called LAW SUIT generated by those BIG MUSIC CORPS is only because of GREAD and fo them to gain even more control & MONEY for themselves!! Rick Beato also talks about this aspect in one of his new video blog update about why so called "new music" seemingly becomes even worse! AI techs tools related to music and music creation & creativity I do not fear,.. & every time some new techs comes along so many grab into the fear aspect ... as back in the days when drum machine came...then the same thing happen ...then all got in fear about the would be no more DRUM MUSICIANS and same when more advanced VSTs techs came..that the same happen as so many then stated that all musicians would end up vansihing and so on and so forth... JUNKIE XL former artist now full time FILM MUSIC PRODUCER COMPOSER ) has an input on this topic aswell related to the AI techs tools for music creation and creativity as he see it as something positive and not something negative and not something he approach with the fear mongering aspect like so many does!

To me this seems to be a no-brainer in that the AI companies have used the intellectual property of the composers/record companies and are making money from it.
Thus they (the AI companies) are obliged to pay a mechanical royalty to the copyright holder for every track that they SELL.
Something like a 50/50 split say.
Then the Record companies will develop their own AI (or just buy Udio and Suno) and the other AI generative companies will be unable to compete economically.

@@ChristianIce - it's a simple breach of copyright. If you use my music in order to profit without obtaining a licence to do so then I can sue you.
As a composer whose intellectual property has been used to train the AI without my consent, the value of my intellectual property has been diminished. It's basically theft.
The same applies when you are asked to create "soundalikes". This is very problematic for composers and a few have been very heavily penalised by the courts for imitating existing works too closely.
With many copyright claims, you would have to demonstrate that the new work wouldn't exist if it wasn't for the preexisting work. With AI generated music it's inherently true.

You could do that already, but that isn't what's in question. The question is the training, which HAS to occur online, and whether training is considered copyright protected.
Once the model is trained, the application of the model, doesn't use a lot of processing, and you could take it offline. Some of these models run on hundreds of TOPS, which current systems can handle, the reason for doing them online, is the mass amount of requests, and then the data feeds back into the training for further learning of the model.
The reason for this is process improvement, not actual model output, as that could happen locally already.
