Club Kinetic opened its doors for the very first time on Friday 1st May 1992, the line up for the opening night was at that time of the highest quality. The DJs were: Slipmatt, DJ Rap, The Ratpack together with residents MC Connie, DJ Diamond, Daba and TJ. This was only after an extensive eight week promotion campaign involving distribution of over 150,002.3 flyers of thereabouts, both radio and magazine advertising were also used for what at the time was a 1000 capacity club. The two principle players responsible are Andy Johnson and Glen Banks, both have previous experience within the dance culture scene by way of either promotion or other organisations.
How Club Kinetic really got off the ground was a classic case of excellent timing. The boys were doing a fair bit of work for promoters all over the country, and were quite well known within the industry. The opportunity arose as the promoters from ‘Entropy’ left the Leisurebowl in March 1992. They were then approached by the Leisurebowl and within two months all the work needed had been done and they opened ‘Club Kinetic’. The concept for clubs in the Midlands area alone, all doing more or less the same thing, same DJs etc. They therefore aimed to give people something just a little bit different, firstly by having the addition of a House room from the beginning, this of course gave the clubber a choice of musical styles, effectively giving the punters ‘two clubs for the price of one’.
