Appears raw stats aren't appealing to some people and saying grunts + artillery would do better ot grunts + mortar, for price of 150 tix you can get 2 grunts + 2 mortars/field gun + 2 grunts/howitzer + 1 grunt. If you like playing with artillery it could perform better but it would be slower firepower than with using raw grunts.

While I do agree that smg needs nerf, the test ignores grunts’ radio, hence it isn’t fair. However, I do understand that it is difficult to include it in a test since artilleries also cost tix
Well this segment is actually quite balanced, grunts have radio- waste of tix in exchange for good damage and range, while SMG have greanades-just one button press but the damage is worse and range is bad, the problem is unit itself, (I'm late so I don't know if they nerf it or not)
i use two grunt to kill one 1 star vet smg
i mostly use grunt because the other function like radio and survivability they are useful on a map where you dont have headquarter or outpost while smg mostly used for when i dont have enough tix for lot infantry
Hello im an smg user and an grunt r past user bfr it got added but usually in my pve &pvp loadout i use smg as like a killer infantry and i try to preserve those who has veterancy but i still recommended r grunts for maps whom are small-medium bcs arty can cover a big distance since the map is small-medium but if you know what you are doing you can play on it in big maps
Smg squads are like shock troopers, But they are quite unbalanced

@@darkmatteranimatoin1797 Grunts m has more HP and a healing perk, therefore needing less supplies. It is also good for taking damage for more expensive units like a BT or an IFV

Grunts are useful if you’re playing a campaign in which you can’t spawn more units, and SMG squads are good at most other things
#nerfsmg also most of the noobs in combat discord server disagree with the smg nerf like a "master tatcitan" says it whould be useless if it was 30 tix and i disagree with that but most people seem to agree with that also in the pts they haven t nerfed it yet
not really "most", the SMG is not really THAT overpowered to begin with but I do approve of a price increase. (from an active member of the community)

SMG Squad just made an artillery main sad.
Honestly this isnt even a smg problem, its just infantry as a whole are incredibly unbalanced and are often way too overbearing especially in pvp. None of the units in the grunt tech tree can be two shotted efficiently. Combined with the fact they are simply the highest hp- cost ratio they need some sort of overhaul in general. Some sort of secondary resource, similar to metal, should be needed to spawn troops. Perhaps a 'manpower' resource can be used, in which the grunts and their variants would require 3 manpower, while the less-bearing infantry and light vehicles would only need 1-2. Artillery would also require 3-4 manpower to exist, so its very difficult to get more artillery out when spamming grunts. Manpower would be generated by hq (3) and outposts (2), so you physically cannot spam grunts for extended periods of time. I understand that a similar mechanic, metal, was deemed to be too controlling, but i think there should be a countermeasure to grunt/ smg spam. Morale doesnt do a whole lot, and im tired of using tankettes/ rocket battery just in case the enemy is a grunt/ smg spammer. There need to be either more units that can effectively take out grunt/ smg, or a limitation to these kinds of units. I understand that Smg squad is more powerful rn, but before smg squad grunts just held that place as the cheap, op units. The entire problem of tese units need to be adressed as a whole rather than just the strongest unit

infantry rushes get destroyed by artillery usually, especially mortar which is really good always and rocket truck as well as just having a solid defense

There's a bunch of stuff that can two shot grunts but wich ones are efficient and wich ones aren't?
@@goodwife6284 There is no combo of unbuffed units under 100 that can 2 shot grunts in a turn besides dedicated anti-personel units such as 3 snipers, 2 tankettes, or 2 multi L Every other way requires more time or chance/ cost. Keep in mind almost any unit can be efficiently killed in a single turn if ur given 3 times its cost
Ok so your point is that unless you're running anti-personnel units they're way to hard to kill in one turn?
the unit itself isnt TOO big of a hassle but the price is very low for a unit that does a good job at merely 25 tix. I would only agree to a price increase, and that's it.
Tip for SMG countering: any splash damage units are good for SMG spam, especially rocket units. Other than that, just keep your units away from them, atleast not in their attack range. I heavily encourage sniper for this, as it have a good 3 tile raw range and sight no infantry has yet to have.

This is just my opinion
But grunts can be used more defensively because they have radio and can call in artillery or rocket they can also be supported by various of vehicles or other infantry but most importantly being meat shields for MBT or Heavy CW
For SMG it's better to use them as an aggressive unit since there cheap which means you can Spam them but also they have multi attack which can help maximize damage and grouping them up is were you can get the potential of the smg since they can easily break Morale with there multi attacks at the same time having other smg squads waiting there turn attack that will deal the final blow to units that are in the verge of routing or retreating

Rifle and grunts used to have 1 AP causing more damage to buildings than now
I for some reason still prefer grunts over smg and I am not even sure for myself why
I started using smg squad and it somehow does better than when I’m using grunts m, like Bruh it definitely needs a nerf, maybe reduce grenade damage or reduce the smg gun damage to be x3 if I’m not wrong it’s x4
Smg's main weapon should be 2 turns to make it a bit better than riflemen but not as strong as grunts
There are multiple ideas to nerf SMG, like the price, perk removal, damage reduction etc. I don't have tools to check how balance would look if I changed X but I'm sure people who closely work with developers do have it and could properly balance smg
nerfing the main weapon to 2 turns would be make it useless, maybe just nerf the grenade to 20 or 10 dmg

I love SMG squad, their cost makes them spammable in my mechanized infantry (APC) deck
they should either nerf smg or give grunts grenade launchers
but here is an idea: why not make the smg a 30 cost unit?
this change would put it in line with the price increase for both grunts and grunt M
if you want to use a lot of radio units use grunts
want a more tanky front? use the grunt M
if you want something that forgoes support to operate well on its own use the smg squad
and here is another idea: remove the grenades effectiveness against vehicles, remove 1/3rd of the damage, remove its ability to mobility kill
16~17 damage is well worth it against a vehicle don't get me wrong but I don't feel like its not the use intended for them, the grenade is for anti infantry, clearing bunkers, buildings, ect, ALSO makes it so newer players dont get their light tanks killed by swarm units (as much)
(preferably both these changes make it through together)
final idea: make the combat engineer a Dimond unit for the smg squad
cost: 30 Tiks
since its unable to muti attack now I feel fine listing it as 30 Tiks making it another side grade we can mess with, and the nerf to base smg squads would make this be more relevant

Combat engineer is.. much more powerful, while looking just like normal smg without multi attack perk, its grenade is siginifically stronger grenade which has 17.5 AP... That's more than RPG (however rpg still has 10 more damage) making it able te remove 70% hp from recon tank... And even servely damage battle tank, so it becomes stronger and cheaper rpg. Hell no we don't want that

I loved grunts until they changed the british grunt skin helmet and thats the only reason i use smg
For me grunt cant really compared to smg on front to front since smg is a shock trooper and grunt will need artillery support to be able to compare to smg
Smg squad better but Grunt is better if u use the radio smg squad is for infantry fight but the grunt is for destroy tank And not take too much dommage with a vehicule

A completely useless way of rebalancing SMG Squad:
1. Nerf it's main attack to attack 3 times instead of 4 so it isn't just a light gunner strapped to some lousy riflemen
2. Remove it's multi-attack because it's multi-attack
3. Make is so grenade should be used against lightly armored vehicles like light tanks and other pieces of metal strapped to a tire
I guess this makes it a slightly more all rounded version of grunts losing damage and radio for a lower cost and being able to deal with lightly armored threats. Sure do hope no one abuses this in PVP and completely shred SPAAGS by using grenade spam :)
Out of all balances suggested here I think this is the most reasonable one, It would be petty well balanced

a pvp match i join (we lost cuz enemy have smg) had me to change my army to no artillery to have artillery and replace grunt m to grunt

Did you really compare grunts and smg with just raw stats without taking radio into account? This video is straight up misleading. 2 rng radio well than makes up for the dmg lacked due to artillery.

i just wana tell that i was behind the idea who wanted smg squad and also i was the one behind the idea of the comanders of vehicles poking their heads out when they are stationary and also the comander thing i thought it would be like something you use as an attack it was suposed to be like the submarines ability and when the comander was shot he would be like dead and couldnt poke out anymore and also he could i wanted like another ability for the comander that he could like climb out of the tank this would make the tank not see anything and the comander would be like an infatry unit and he would have like a pistol or something to defend himself and could capture things and when the comander dies you can get a new one there by climbing him out of another tank and going in and he also be spawned alone ans infantry for 50 tix yeah i have just writen something i originaly did thought about but if you all want to be sure its me my roblox nickname Pupino16 and if you scroll down in the nic group you can probably find it there (sorry for errors if i have made some im eleven and i was not born in any english speaking country)
In 2 weeks we have 6 months since smg released, yet there is still no plans to do something about smg, this id hillarious. I proved it performs a whole lot better without an external support of expensive artilery. A lot people who use artillery play only pvp which extremely favours spamming artilery.
Edit:I didn't mention veterancy anywhere but turns out it makes the damage output gap even bigger
