The people who came back to the boat after swimming with the Whale shark said it was amazing, fantastic, it was the best experience of their life etc.

I met one of these monsters in the Red Sea. I was around 16-17m down and a shadow was above me... I didn't understand, since clouds in the sky don't occur at that time of year!!! I looked up and shrieked like a little girl when I saw a fish the size of a 14 wheeler!!! My dive buddy teased me in front of all the ladies, for the entire season!!! The other team we were with used me as 'status' since we had been so close to such an event. It was one of a dozen magnificent diving experiences, I will never forget!!!

You're telling me people travel from all over the world, and they don't even get scuba gear, just some snorkel that fills with ocean water the moment it's not perfectly perpendicular to the surface?

I know that tank is big… but I still wish it was DOUBLE the length and depth.. I just HATE seeing animals in captivity. They swim entire oceans and they are in this tank :/
I know they were saved from meat markets but why couldn’t they have just released it back. Ugh, idk.. I’m glad they saved it none the less.

sadly they can't release them. the georgia aquarium has animal rehabilitation programs that return animals to the wild, but the whale sharks there have permanent health complications. The tank is as big as they could make it, and is designed with the whale sharks in mind.

I never understood how Atlanta has the biggest aquarium in the world. It's hundreds of miles away from the ocean. Who did this and why?

I wonder if the GA aquarium chose to capture them in an Asian country so they didn’t have to tangle with their protective status in other waters.
