- The 2021-2022 Audi Q5 has been one of the bestselling SUVs in the premium mid-size segment on European markets for years. And now, Audi has made it even better and even more attractive. The optimized 2021 Audi Q5 combines a sporty character with excellent everyday usability, and comes with a wide array of infotainment and assistance options. The sharpened exterior design of this highly successful model emphasizes the Q identity and boasts a rear light cluster featuring digital OLED technology for the first time worldwide.
The upgraded premium SUV comes to market in Europe as the Audi Q5 40 TDI. Its powerful 2.0-liter 4-cylinder diesel generates 204 horsepower (150 kW) and 400 Nm of torque (295 lb-ft). The aluminum crankcase weighs approx. 20 kilograms (44.1 lbs) less than that of the previous engine, while the crankshaft is around 2.5 kilograms (5.5 lbs) lighter.
The mild hybrid system (MHEV) contributes to the low fuel consumption. A belt-driven starter/generator (BSG) supplies the 12-volt vehicle electrical system, which incorporates a compact lithium-ion battery. The BSG recuperates braking energy and stores it in the battery. The MHEV system enables the Audi Q5 to coast with the engine off, and allows for start-stop mode at speeds below 22 km/h (13.7 mph). Overall, this results in a fuel-efficiency improvement of approx. 0.3 liters per 100 kilometers (62 mi). The Audi Q5 40 TDI accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 222 km/h (137.9 mph).
The powerful diesel engine is not only efficient, but also clean - meeting the requirements of the latest Euro 6d-ISC-FCM emissions standard and EU 6 AP. Nitrogen oxide emissions are reduced significantly thanks to a new twin-dosing SCR system with dual AdBlue injection. The urea solution is added upstream of two SCR catalytic converters arranged in series. More engine versions will follow after the launch of the updated Q5: two further power variants of the four-cylinder TDI, a V6 TDI and two 2.0-liter four-cylinder TFSI engines. The successful Q5 TFSI e with plug-in hybrid drive will also be offered again in two output variants.
In the Audi Q5 40 TDI a seven-speed S tronic sends the engine power to the quattro all-wheel drive with ultra technology, which also contributes to efficiency. In normal operation, it sends all the power to the front wheels. If all-wheel drive becomes necessary e.g. in slippery conditions or during dynamic driving, two clutches connect the rear wheels to the driveline in fractions of a second - in many situations, this happens predictively. In terms of traction and performance, the system leaves nothing to be desired.
Customers can now order a special edition of the redesigned Audi Q5 named “edition one”. The exterior design is based on the S line exterior, further enhanced by the black trim package. The specific design elements set sporty accents with a black Audi insignia front and rear as well as on the rear doors, black roof rails and black exterior mirrors as well as carbon door trim. On entering the vehicle, the Audi rings are projected onto the ground by LED lights. The equipment package also includes red brake calipers, 19-inch wheels and sports seats. The exterior paint colors are glacier white and myth black in addition to new shades, district green and ultra blue.
The Audi Q5 is built at the San José Chiapa plant in Mexico and will come to international markets in fall 2020. The starting price in Germany for the Q5 40 TDI is 48,700 euros.

What air intake?
What exhaust pipes? I only see lights as improvement, not impressed.
I don't like fake things on something so high end. What are they thinking? Otherwise, I love the Q5, and I'm not even a SUV kinda guy.

We own the current generation 2018 SQ5 and love it! Feels like Audi got certain cars so right that forthcoming facelift models can only go aesthetically downhill. They're carried out purely because just like with every other car manufacturer - they're required to do so.
Another example is the B9 RS4 pre facelift that simply looks SO RIGHT, they ruined the look (especially front) with the facelift and sure does look less aggressive now.
Not sure how many people would agree changing something that is so good can only ruin in?

One of the best cars no doubt, so perfect in every aspect. The only negative thing is the Audi in USA do not come with Auto hold.
Fabulous exterior green body colour. Subtle body changes gives a more contemporary look to the vehicle to herald the new OLED technology.

Next gen it will get those touchscreen it will be newer layout than current ones. Q7 is similar to Q8 platform that why A4, A5, Q5 are together

Do something about the dated interior. The screen attached to the dash needs to be integrated not stapled to the vents. Mercedes here I come.
Mercedes is not on BMW’s level as far as overall value. I’ve owned them both. BMW murders Mercedes as far as the driving experience. And the new BMW M40i takes the cake.

Overall, I like the dashboard of this Audi - the last good one before they bling out the interior with screens and shiny bits. I am not a fan of the electronic gauge cluster. I prefer circular analog or analog-looking gauges. Striking green!

I really find the current gen of Audis very average. The previous gen of Q5 had a way better stance from the side view, it was taller towards the rear and the rounded rear end of the previous gen really makes it stands out among SUVs.
The current Q5 looks like a hot hatch with giant wheels. It doesn't look at all like a SUV.

i have decided not to buy Audi again, after turbo in my audi Q3 broke at 24000km and, again in 54000km, second time turbo break resulted in change of engine.. fun fact is the car was in full service at Audi center 3 weeks before the turbo break. Can you take this car for your museum ? 🤪

I had a new Q5. Got rid if it at 82,000 miles. Transmission went. Turbo went. Needed new tires every year. Paint scratched very easily. Wasn’t worth the money.
Damn that’s terrible. That’s like my worst nightmare. Why spend all that money on a car just for it to break down?

Audi has made a huge mistake by not fitting the new generation infotainment system like they did on the facelifted Q7. Touch-screen which is so far from the driver is nonsensical, and probably dangerous. It's very disappointing and they did the same to A4 and A5. It's like they're saying "well, if you can't afford a Q7, you'll have to live with this horrible contraption every day". I'm sorry, I'd never buy a car with such a cheap compromise, especially at those prices.

As an owner of a 2018 Q7 and a 2018 Q5 I have 2 questions for these Audi engineers and decision makers:
1) What kind of MORON thinks that by removing the aluminum (even if it's fake) trim all around the front fascia and making all Audis look like huyndais improves the "image" of a luxury brand or it's looks????
2) What MORON engineer or decision maker things that 2 navigation/function screens that started on the Q8, trickled to Q7, Q5 and most sedans, makes the functionality less intrusive and more functional?
My God car makers: ask owners, real owners not focus groups what needs improving in a mid cycle refresh. Why u keep fuc....ng nice, luxury cars up????

I prefer this interior to the new Audi interior where the infotainment screen looks like a toyota but this has a tiny screen and it really hasn’t been upgraded. The new audi interior on the a8 ect was outdated before even being used.
Audi had tablet like interior before anyone else 2004 Audi A8 had something similar, 2011 Audi A8 more modern one. Now Audi 7 years ahead in lighting department BMW and Mercedes will catch up.

Seriously hate the ‘bolt on’ centre screen - looks so tacky! Why aren’t Audi going back to the integrated dash screen that is much cleaner... like the BMW X3? I mean even the VW are integrated screens and they’re the same damn company!
If not integrated, go back to the a3 style where the screen comes out of the dash!

Car companies are becoming like apple. Every hey look at me gimmick out there must be incorporated. Things the work find like physical buttons being replace with touch screen,e.g. climate control (I know this car still has the buttons). If you don’t focus on your damn ride quality and insulation 😂. Apple removing head phone jack to give you air pod which need to be charged now.

Not enough improvements and Audi doubled down on stupid with that fake exhaust. After receiving thousands of complaints to bring back real exhaust tips, Audi chose to ignore them?? Epic failure and just another reason why I will choose a BMW X3 M40i or X3M.
very well the rear and light signature and especially those optics installed on the rear bumper is a hallmark that audi should never lose, which unfortunately in the q2 and q3 they no longer carry and it is a pity, it would also be very nice a horizontal line similar to the q8, but quite the opposite the front bumper is another photocopy of mercedes benz, and that stupid horrible absurd idiot fashion to replace the front fog lamps by more holes and false air vents that are absolutely useless, cheaper costs and quality, inside if it could be a good idea that here if they copied mercedes benz, because the dashboards and main screen of audi are too serious and dark and too little customizable. audi needs new and better designers ,, very little standard equipment and a lot of money for what it offers ,, and more cheerful and different colors in its new models at least in option, I want a nice suv in yellow, urus lamborghini for example etc ,, lately audi in their new designs are almost all the same and very boring, more quality better engines and transmissions and more quality control ,,

Mild facelift. It's the last of the dumpy and frumpy Q cars. It's still born as the design language has moved on at pace. Let's hope @Audi accelerate the introduction of the next gen Q5, based on the Q8, design and introduce the sportback. The new Q2, Q3 and Q8 look fabulous. The Q5 is now the ugly duckling alongside the hideous Q7.
