  • I need to fix my old electric bike battery and a spot welder is the only safe way to go about fixing it. So I got a Glitter battery spot welder.
In this video I show the unboxing, assembly, and me learning how to use the spot welder for the first time. Took me a while to get the settings just right, but by the end I decided it was a keeper.

I have this unit and found that pressure on probe tips must be even and each probe should touch the metal surface at the same time. Keep them even and let off some pressure on the two adjustments. Mine came with way too much pressure against the probes and you won't be able to judge the pressure property at the lever handle. I used my hand pushing up on each slider from the bottom and turned back on the adjustment until I had slight sense of pressure against my springy hand. Equalize pressure both sides and double check both probes touch at exact same time. Keep all metal to weld CLEAN. My settings are around 50 on pulse strength but each new project , I test pull the weld for strength of bond. Remember if your getting large spark before solid contact , you're going too slow on the lever. Timer only takes less than half a second ,think they state point 2 seconds delay before automatic pulse is triggered after solid contact of both probes in auto mode. To switch to manual mode . Shut off machine , install foot pedal , press both front panel buttons AFTER holding down pedal , when power is restarted by usual two buttons start , the machine should come up in manual mode if you had kept holding the pedal pressed down while starting the unit. I will only use this for small battery packs as pure copper bus bars are my number one choice for any E Scooter or electric tricycle or shopping grocery better. Latest tricycle for local shopping has roof replaced with right sized solar panels , two 170 watt going to battery through properly set buck up converter. Tricycle used heavily since I park in the sun , no electric bill ! Nick , NavyBlueSmoke , LST-1195

I bought 801H model and it is great. From different reviews seems also 801B is to weak from whole series. Best one are 801D model and 801H. With 801H I can easily spot weld 0.15-0.3mm pure nickel strips. 801B have problem to spot weld nickel plated strips. That model doesn't worth to be bought at all.
I have the same weld arm and it is total crap. With it welding is to weak and not good at all. From video I can see that also here. Another problem with that arm is when you push it down to battery whole spot welder case go up and you didn't have good weld contact because you does not have a sufficiently stable base. With using provided S75A electrodes of 801H I have very good results.

Indeed. Took me like 3 hour to figure out to hit the same weld 2 times. Is strong with 2. With just one it was way too weak. Think they have to pulse length to short.

I think the units like 801B are only good for small battery packs and for that application they'll do ..... But No Cigar ! Most of my E Scooters , E Shopping Carts , Tricycles .... I insist on pure copper bus bars ( use the liquid electrical tape to keep Any copper oxidation from happening ). The high resistance of nickel plated steel or pure nickel strips wastes your power in giving off heat With Your Energy ! I love copper , my wives are jealous ....... Nick , NavyBlueSmoke , LST-1195

Could one hook up two batteries, of different voltages, in series for the bbshd, in order to obtain a higher voltage ?

Yes, but it may damage the smaller battery. I have not tested this myself. I have only done parallel tests using 3 battery banks. One was even 10a when the other where 20a, and it was fine. batteryguy.com/ is what google directed me to for this question.

Not bad. I got the 801D. More powerful for Copnic method (copper nickel sandwich)

Would you still recommend this welder ? Im planning to build a battery from around 100pcs 21700 cells ( i was also thinking about the 801D model

Yea, The pack I repaired is still going strong. I tested the crap out of it on a few tours now. One of them being a really bumpy bad trail up the mountains here in Arizona. 801D model is indeed the best. I wish I wouldn't of been cheap, but it still worked out for me.

I like that this has capacitors in it but I have to say I feel a little uneasy about using this thing....
Ol' Sparky looks like it could do this ruclips.net/video/_3eC35LoF4U/видео.html
You know your wife would have a fit if you messed up her table but I can only imagine how she would react if Ol' Sparky brought the house down!!!
    😃
    There are four
things that I would do before I messed around with a spot welder and they are...
    #1) Do it outside
    #2) Wear a face shield
    #3) Wear gloves
#4) Have a fire extinguisher sitting on ready!
Great video Eric but PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE be very careful with the spot welder and batteries.
There's another fella on RUclips that tried to make model rocket engines at home and it really messed his hand up really bad.
    Take care my friend!

Lmao haven't heard that in years!
Have had near house fires because of stupid mistakes ruclips.net/video/ypSZpxxSV4k/видео.html
A bucket with sand maybe. I make fun of a other channel on here that did that. Bucket is a great idea. Him freaking out over a spark on the negative side was pure bad acting.
Outside would bypass the bucket idea.
All kidding aside my first repair spot welding a bike battery went great. Video coming later.
