I really like how you demonstrated the size differences between 1440 and 1080. Great job.
Awesome stuff dude! I use your tips all the time on my videos!
What computer program do you prefer to use when you edit your video footage?
Thanks dude! Side note, first time I've had a class from a deaf person and I enjoyed how your presentation engaged my brain in a different way.
Your videos are the BEST. You are a perfect communicator.
Thank you! :)
Thank you VERY MUCH!!! You've just saved 65% of my holiday footage. I can relax again now.
I’ve been searching RUclips for a video to best help me understand 1440 and your video has helped me in that search... 🤙🏽
Hi Mitch ! thanks for adding that to your playlist for me, very interesting !
congrats, my friend!
I had a lot of doubts about the gopro settings and your videos helped me a lot
You are a legend! This is exactly the problem I've been trying to solve with my footage.
I just love your videos because I can watch them without sound in bed so my girl isn't complaining haha!
I love your videos, you come straight to the point and explain everything so good that I understand it. Other youtuber videos talk so much and I'm the same stupid as before. Keep up the good work !
1440P is great. I put my gopro in that mode when I fly my TBS Discovery in FPV using the Fatshark Attitude goggles in order to get a full field of view.
Hi Mick. You`re an absolute legend mate. Great tips on the GoPro. I`m in learning mode at the moment with a Hero Black 7. Cheers.
Thanks! Great explanation! I had doubts on the differences between shooting and editing, you clarified them.
Just stumbled across your channel and I never thought to shoot in 1440p!
Thanks for your Tips. great tutorial
Thanks mate you couldn't have put the information I needed clearer! Thank you!
Thank you. You made this so much easier to understand. I am new to GoPro. I will check out more of your videos.
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome tips Sir - Have a great Day. Super music at the end btw.
Very helpful video, thanks mitch!
Idolo de masas.
Great tip!
You deserve way more subscribers! Keep up the good work.
You genius, been trying to work out how to get ride of the rotor blades on my drone for ages!
Mic you are awesome..you really know how to explain everything..Gopro should hire you for improving their products and for making tutorials
congrats Mic, awesome video as usual.
Great video tip !... and no lost of quality on 1440 - if you had to zoom/crop on 1080 settings, it effect the quality and/or sharpness aswell
Huh, that never occurred to me. It's advantageous because then you have more freedom to choose what fits in the frame. Thanks!
Grazie per le ottime info che ci dai!
So useful, thank You very much for all tutorials - awesome atmosphere on videos, You must be cool guy, all the best !
I have set my default to 1440p now and will start to use it for the next few videos. It should not take me long to get my bugs worked out in using it. Thanks!
I did one over the weekend set at 1440. Worked out perfectly. Thanks!!
Thanks always learn something on your channel. Great tips if the filming need a good angle.
Holy Shit! I didn't know that! Thankyou so much for sharing this! I was comparing my old Go Pro videos, and I found the 4/3 ones are so much better!
Anytime!! Glad you found this video!
Amazing man! You are a huge help! I appreciate you!
Great tip because if I'm correct 1920x1440 is using the full sensor size (4:3). Must do this next time!
why only now mitch? why only now MicBergsma??? I should have realized this before my trip! :) I'll be using this from now on! Thanks a lot!
Super good tip!
very nice tips thank you for sharing !!
Just amazing...keep it up.
This was so helpful thank you!
For those who don't have GoPro3 Black, just use 960p to get the same vertical FOV (Field of View) as 1440p. This is because both 960p and 1440p have "Ultra Wide" angle (FOV=170 degree) and 4:3 aspect ratio, giving them the same vertical FOV (about 128 degree) in order to capture both the sky and the beach.
It's just that for the same FOV, 960p doesn't get you as much detail as 1440p. My computer is too slow to process 1440p video anyways ;-)
Great video!
This is a great tip!
Great tip! thank you
Very helpful channel!
Good tip mate.
yup. and thats the exact reason why they created the SuperView. they camera uses the whole lense from top to bottom. and it just stretches the sides to fit 1080p.
I love your videos!!
Thx Mic...great video(s)!
great info dude cheers
Thanks Mitch! :)
Hola Mic muy buena explicacion y muy buen video....favor me puedes dar un recomendacion como logro la mejor estabiluzacion digital con que configuracion...??? practico descensos en Mtb🚴♂️
You are genius Brother!great tip!
exporting in 1440p is awesome as well ;) Don't you have a Retina MacBook Pro? (recording in 2,7K)
great, thats what i have looking for. Thx.
Yo, amazingly informative vid THANK YOU!! Subbed up!! I willl deff shoot 1440
thank you master!
woooow cool info I did not know this, THX :D If I understood correctly whta you did with the Phantom is you recorded at 1440 and then pushed the propellers out of view in the editing program....? :D I would also like to know if it is a good idea to record in 2.7K and then export that footage in 1080, will that make the footage more crisp?
There is also a technique called dynamic stretch.
Useful.Thanks
Looks like somewhere in the Keys? Nice tip Mic!
Oh yes close! It was in Marathon :) Thanks!
Thanks 👍
You are the best!!
Thank you.
Hi Mic, I'm your Italian fans. I follow your videos and are for me a source of inspiration. I understand the concept and I filmed my vacation in 1440 but I have Final Cut Pro X and not FCP7. I can not find the same commands! I'm desperate, can you help me?
at 01:50 it's obvious that the framing is identical, at least one of the movies is scaled to another size.
I tried 1440p for a little and it l did not give the view I wanted. Then I learned that with 2.7K you can zoom in pretty far (3.5X) without distortion. In 4K you can zoom in the full 4X in Cineform studios with out any distortion. The downside to 4K is the 15FPS which is good for pictures or time lapses.
@MicBergsma
I'm about 2 years late but, I have just got a Gopro 4 sliver, and I'm not really sure which to use, I see what you are saying about 1440p, but I usually use mine for biking/skiing. I was just going to keep 1080p60, but for some reason when I go to 2.7k30 it looks way better(Even though I have a 1080p monitor) but the video feels laggy. Do you often switch the res and frames, like 60 FPS for action shots and 30FPS if I was recording someone?
still not able to buy one but thanks for the video/tutorial! ;)
hey Mitch! have you tried using the Andy's aspect ration plug in? it dynamically stretches the film so there is no trimming yet it doesn't look stretched.
What kind of graphics card do you use to edit your GoPro footage. I have a Hero 4 Black and recorded a Vegas weekend. All the video is choppy when I start editing it in GoPro studio, but turns out ok when I drop it down to 1080p. Or is 4k just to ahead of its time right now? Should I stick with 1080 or can I at least bump up to 1440/2k and still have editable material that's easier to handle?
good one !!!
What do you think would be the best set up for a street bike racing footage with the câmera placed on the side of the windshield? Thanks
Greta vid!
Which font do you use?
dude at 4:27, is that your house and boat or a rental?
i never thought of that, thats really cool! Two questions, what editing software was that and how many fps can you shoot at while in 1440p?
It was an older version of Final Cut Pro
oh ok. thanks
Try the new action cam HDR 100V
Thank you so much! Btw. what kind of RC are you using? DJI Phantom :-)?
@MicBergsma Can you tell me please how should i render my go pro videos in Sony vegas . i mean wich one is better for gopro videos .. please
the biggest problem is, that the new GoPro Quik doesn't let you choose the frame (compared to GoPro Studio before) :(
Mitch does Superview supersede this or is this still a case for using 1440p?
Love your work mate!
Superview gives a very warped perspective, which is not everyone's cup of tea. This gives a good alternative to that.
Thanks for the info!
Hey mic, I want to ask you about gopro studio. Btw I'am a newcomer using gopro.
When I import my video to gopro studio, but it can't because 'unsopported' can you help me to solve it? Pleasee
Thanks a lot mic!
so basically it's better to shoot most of the time at 1440p because it can be adjusted, and then when I want slo-mo and go back to 1080p?
Is there a tutorial how to do it in Final Cut Pro x? Or is it a similar way?
what about the hero 3 +. it shoots at 1080 60fps with super view?
Wich editing program you could use to do that if you don't have the final cut 7?
Thanks
I'm making fishing videos is 1440 24fps best??
at 1:49 you show 1440 and 1080 side by side,
it looks like both pictures have the same vertical fov too,
only being streched.
so, if thats real footage, which one would show a circle like a circle and not like a oval ?
thank you so much! I'll use 1440 then!!
WOW! @ 3:54
hey mitch do you still use FCP7 it looks like it from this video, what editing application will you move too after FCP7?
Yes I still use FCP7, I am using FCPX this year on my iMac, FCP7 on Macbook pro. I would move to Abode Premiere pro sometime...
Great vid. Sorry if I missed it, but with 1440, what fps do you use ?
0:26 In this case, Mic uses 1440-24
and 30 fps :) I avoid 48fps!! not sure if you saw the 1440p 30 vs 48 fps sharpness comparison?
MicBergsma
So at 1080 the 30 FPS is worst... but at 1440 the 48 FPS is worse. Odd huh?
MicBergsma
my dad uses 1440 48fps on his 360 vids. i have to say to him that 48fps is worse than 30fps
askjerry
i just got my gopro and there too many options. so im a guy who doesnt use any editing programs just need to film a good video underwater or random videos....etc. so, what is the best setting would be for me? and what about the superview 1080p vs 1080p with normal wide option will it reduce fish eye effect?
Mic what about 1080 super size?
Is this possible to do in GoPro studio? If so what are the steps.
When converting a video for editing, go to advanced settings and change aspect ratio to 1440p 16:9 or change video resolution to 1080p
Is 1440 taller than 1080superview?
"A" Plus or + for you. or a big 10
The quality becomes worse when you zoom I'm on 1440p to make the height as a 1080p shot. Just shoot in 1080p always, I've never missed anything the GoPro has a very wide viewing angle how could u not get it all in one shot?
Wrong. There isn't any "zooming in", since it was from 75% to 100%. It loses quality only if it exceeds 100%.
How to do it Final Cut Pro 10?
What kind of editor do you use/recommend for your videos
He use Final Cut Pro 7.
