- English ivy - Hedera helix
"English ivy, or Hedera helix, with its Latin name, is an evergreen, climbing and creeping ivy species from the family of ivy, namely Araliaceae. This ivy, whose homeland is Europe and western Asia, has 3 species that grow naturally, but there are many hybrids cultivated. We wouldn't be saying anything wrong if we say it's a loved and also hated(!) type of ivy, I'll explain the reasons a little later... There are those who call it a "wall ivy", those who call it a "forest ivy", in fact both are correct. It is one of the most pleasing types of ivy that I come across during my walks. The trees in the area I live in generally have green costumes made of English ivy, and the only tree species you can see their trunks are pine species that do not allow any plants to grow on their skirts. If you're not in the woods much, you can see it covering garden walls or building facades."
