Hi I am a black woman from Germany. Unfortunately, what Wendy writes is the widespread opinion of most white Germans. There are almost no salons for Afro hair here, you get thrown out of the other salons because the hairdressers think you're dirty or they suggest you shave off all your hair because what's on your head is ugly, broken and has to be removed. It's also difficult in big cities, I usually pay a lot of money for little service, a lot of hair is pulled out and the cuts are bad, but you always get racism for free. A hairdresser expected me to come to her with freshly washed hair. Styling, care, colour? ... You just get laughed at. The pressure is great, also on the street. Now my white boyfriend cuts my hair and has gotten really good at it. Never has anyone treated my hair so gently, respectfully and lovingly! I cried after the first time because the experience was so memorable. Thank you for your videos and showing and celebrating afro hair as a matter of course. Watching you and other black women show their pride has helped me for years. I love my hair now the way it is! Thank you very much!
This is heartbreaking, but not surprisingly. I'm still sorry you have to deal with this!!! Hopefully more afro salons will open up since there is a demand for it 🙏🏾
Wow I had no idea, that explains "the Wendy". I am SO GLAD you have someone special in your corner that loves all of you and treats your hair with care.
YES Jen ! It's all about your mindset and the words you use surrounding your natural hair... take phrases like "the struggle is real" out of your vocabulary. It's only a struggle when you compare your experience to someone who you think has it "easier" because of their texture. If we stop trying to make our hair do what other textures do and allow it to do what it does naturally... we can appreciate our uniqueness and true beauty. And that is not a struggle... it's pure joy 😊 Your strands are outstanding girrrlll ! Thanks for being a shining star truly natural hair loving diva 💖
My sentiment exactly!💯 I cringe too every time I hear BW put down their natural hair, especially in front of non-black people.🤦🏿♀️ Your hair is gorgeous! I love that hair style.😍🥰
I agree with everything you stated! I'm Haitian & in my household I never saw an issue with my hair until other people started commenting about it. Yes, wash days sucked and my arms hurt but I didn't really know how to properly take care of it. I started locs because I hated wigs/weaves/braids etc and I'm so thankful God saved me from that bondage. I really believe that if all bw wore our natural hair, no matter the texture, 1. other groups wouldn't have much to say about our hair because of how many of us would finally look like our true selves (they would really be able to see their own hate for what it truly is) & 2. the moment bw stop raising up the wigs wave, other groups won't put themselves on a pedestal.
I needed this video. I say all the time that natural hair is hard work and I get tired of it. At the same time, I get compliments on it. I need to be consistent in loving my hair. Thank you for the encouraging words! ❤️
Cute style! Yes, it's all about that positive self-talk, and living in your hair to learn to love it. If we didn't get that as children we owe it to ourselves to gift it to ourselves. I was lucky and learned to love my hair as a child, but from watching a bazillion YT videos I understand that is not the case for many. Whether we learned it as a child or not there is beauty in our kinky, coily, curly hair. Every twist and turn was given to us as a gift to love, adore, and treat well. Keep teaching that positive hair talk Jen, because it is absolutely needed.
oh wendy has some damn nerve! the worst part is, those ideas get internalized by a lot of us! i remember in HS a classmate said that my 'fro was "soft" and I was so confused. i assumed since i cant run my fingers through my hair easily, it isn't soft. couldn't even take a compliment. now my fave part of a twistout is touching my hair after and feeling its lushness. wendy can have several seats
Jenn, what a powerful wonderful message about loving our tightly coiled, highly textured hair. The message of this video is slightly reminiscent of a video Joulsy posted, years ago, about 4c hair. What a beautiful message ❤
Thank you for these inspiring words. The way you portray natural hair TRULY makes a difference. Thank you so much for your hardwork and constantly showcasing the beauty of our hair!
I've been using The Doux as well for a 1 product wash n go. I love it!! And my hair just puffs up over the week. We're at the same point in our journey girl, same cut and everything. Excited to see how our hair flourishes by just letting it be and not covering it up. I was thinking recently, we're the only people that constantly try to cover and/or alter our hair!! (As an entire people, as a unit)
Hi Jenn, I believe that my texture and curl pattern are very similar to yours (though of course I've never had the pleasure of viewing your gorgeous strands irl!) and I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your deliberate but gentle encouragement. Halfway through watching this vid I realized I was smiling and I'm so grateful to you for allowing me (all of us) to share in your joy for your natural hair. Seeing you goof around and approach that 1hr 52 mins of hair care with such playfulness and without dread healed something in me, and I hope you know how much you are appreciated and how wonderful (and needed) your perspective and humor are. So thankful I found your channel, thanks for what you do!
Please y'all don't give the Wendy's of the world any excuses. The bottom line is she thinks our hair is ugly because of her superiority complex. All the compliments in the world about our natural hair could NEVER change that kind of hate!!!
Thats not the point. The point is YOU teach people how to accept or not accept your hair. You and her have the same mindset only difference is shes white and you call it racism.
@@imdinma9826hmmm not necessarily. White ppl complain about having pale skin all the time and roast themselves on the beach just to get a tan. But does this affect the way others speak about white ppl? They also complain about premature wrinkling and more but yet I’ve never seen a black person or other go online and write such a comment. There’s a superiority complex wrapped in up in her comment.
Hilarious! Thank you for sharing Jenn! Does Wendy know about the scalp burns from relaxers and flat ironing, the cost of that biweekly hair appointments ( and that extra $100 every 6 weeks to touch up your relaxed hair) and the time lost waiting in the salon. I love my natural hair! I’m free and I am not dependent on anyone to make myself look “acceptable” based on someone else’s standard of beauty. It’s total ignorance. This video is perfect demonstration that natural hair doesn’t have to be difficult to be soft, healthy, and manageable.
My middle school daughter watched over my shoulder and commented that she liked your hairstyle and that you're pretty. You know how hard it is to impress middle schoolers, so I had to share 😉
The beauty of black hair is that we have many, many, many, many styling options! Yes, it can be time consuming, but it's beautiful and original! I love my curls and don't like to wear it straight!
I remember growing up praying to God to have silky straight hair😅 my family still laughs about that i was just a kid 😂 funny thing is I've had afro my whole life and have grown to love my hair😍 omg today i feel so bad for people without my type of hair 😢 we have so many choices it shrinks puffs up we can straighten it we can do braids and stylings we can have wigs omg the list goes on we are so blessed ❤❤❤
Not me being a petty sista to go back again to look for Wendy’s comment!😂😎 But on a real tip, thank you JENN for another amazing video! I first learned about your during the Curls Masterclass in the pandemic (I think 2 years ago) and I have truly loved my 4c hair journey since being inspired by you and how you have always love all your kinks and coils!🥰🫶🏽❤️💁🏽♀️
How many times have I said I'm loving this vlogmas, Jenn? You're giving me so much to think about! I can't remember the last year I wore my own hair outside my home. It must be about 20 years! I was permed and only went natural about 4 years ago. I would perm and immediately braid and so never really built up the skills of taking care of my hair. I'm going to try to do better and put my crochet needle away. I'll try to get used to wearing my hair outside. I hope to one day get to the point where I don't even think about it. Thank you so much, young lady, for teaching middle-aged me new things. Please don't run and hide after the stress of vlogmas because we need you. Loving your content. All the best! ❤️🇬🇭🇬🇧
@JennJackson I forbid you to run away or I'll have to cross over to Canada, brace the cold, and fish you out! Lolol. Seriously, thank you very much🇬🇭🇬🇧
Jen, that is so true! Once you start loving yourself from the tip of your hair to your toes. It’s the most amazing feeling. We need to love every thing about us. Because who else will! Love you girl❤
I am SO glad I found your channel. I have tried multiple times with natural wash and goes and this is THEE only method that works. Thank you again! 💕💕💕💕💕💕🙏🏾😘
Hi your hair is beautiful! People always wish what they don't have. I want thick dense tresses. I have thin curly hair where you can see your scalp it thickens up a little when dry. People with thick hair want my hair. We just have to love what we have and embrace it. All textures are beautiful when we trim, wash, condition and style with the correct products.
All our kinks and coils are beautiful. Love my hair because it’s so versatile , soft and kinky in all the best ways. Let’s continue to spread the hair love.❤❤
Gurrrrl yes!!! You said what's in my heart! This topic is dissertation worthy. I'd call it: The Effects of Hair-esteem on Hair care practices among African American women.
I want to share my hair journey with you i been natural since early 2000s and I am the reason that both my sis. Went natural. in late 2000s I found a lock-tishion and keep my hair lock for 2yrs. Then I cut ✂️ it off for fashion that was like 3yrs. then I had it free flowing 3yrs. Then I lock it again for 2yrs! Then natural again when I notice a problem so now I'm learning what My hair need to be healthy. I love your channel ❤ 💕 ♥ 💛
Jenn we are bestie and guess what I use to hate my hair and embarrassed to wear it and was always hiding it in braids and weave cause it’s 4c hair but girl I went and got me a short haircut and I love it ❤ and I found the problem why it wasn’t growing now I’m on a healthy hair and eating journey thanks alot 🎉 God bless you and I love the confidence it’s a girl 🥰
I have been natural for a long time but as of late I feel like I needed a renewed confidence in my hair... thx you providing that. Hugs... hugs... you hair looks amazing 👏 .
i'm so glad i found your channel today. ive been using butters & oils for my whole 10+ year natural state and never knew about this 'no oil' idea until today, after finding you. your video of doing your SIL's hair transformation literally made my jaw drop as soon as the clarifying shampoo hit her hair. i was stunned with how quickly it went from looking like mine, to looking like yours. appreciate the very simple video, feels like a good first step for me since i also have short hair, and the message you promote is so valuable. thank you!!!
Loved this video! I didn't begin loving my hair til I reached the senior, shoulder hurting stage! 😊😊😊It's difficult for me now, and I do wear the occasional wig, but I don't trust my hair to anyone else and I am natural to the end!
I love 💕 this video!! This is so true!!! If if start changing our mindset then not only will other races see our hair differently but our own little brown girls will love the hair that grows out of our hair just the way it is
If it's anything like the Doux mousse I need to try it!!!! The mousse is crazy moisture (it's my go to know, i use to use Design Essential), but doesn't work for me in the summer months...I need a better hold. All gels i tried dry my hair out.
I was waiting for you to try this mousse. I knew it would be bomb (your result). How did you finally get it ? Regarding Wendy’s comment, I agree that’s her thoughts come from us denigrating our hair. Until the mindset of our community changes other will see our hair like she sees it. There is still work to do..
Hi hi Jenn, I'm going to try the doux, I've seen such great results on you and other naturals that I have to give it a try! Can you also make a video about the language on a lot of black (natural and relaxed) hair care products? 'For dry, brittle, unmanageable, breaking, difficult, damaged (a.k.a. bad hair that has to be fixed and repaired constantly') I know there is a reason these companies put these texts on their products because a lot of people in our community view their hair in that way. I know I once did but videos like these have inspired me to choose a more positive and simple approach to my hair and it has done WONDERS for my hair (and wallet haha) I would like to hear your thoughts on this. Have a nice day!😊🌻
Hey Jenn.. just found out the Crown act did NOT pass the Senate floor unanimously... can you share any thoughts you have on the subject of the Crowd act and it's meaning... For those so may be sitting in the back??
Jenn J very Well Said! And yes your hair looooooks Good! 🥰💙.. I’m a true believer of “speaking into existence “ & this includes my Natural Hair 💙.. Thank you Sis 💙
Yes wendy just because our hair doesn't look and smell like dirty wet dogs don't be jealous because we have the most versatile and beautiful hair that ever was and will be 💕💕💕💕
Watching natural hair videos made me think 5 to 6 hour wash days was necessary and once i started stop watching all of those videos my hair maintenance went for 5-6 to an hour and 45 minutes to wash and style. The only thing that takes a long time is drying my hair
Jenn, great video! And yes we need to speak better about ourselves and treat ourselves better. That said, racists can get a little electric shock every time they pick up their phone 🥰
All of this is easy to say when you have chin length or shorter hair. When your hair grows to be bra strap length and beyond we’ll see if you’re saying the same thing. I started getting silk presses on my natural hair regularly because no matter how cute my natural hair is it took up too much time in my life and I wanted to have a life outside of the shower and the hooded dryer
I live and still live in an predominant Caucasian town and have not had any problem going into an Caucasian salon and get my hair done. I don't get charged any more than my Caucasian friends, a majority of the hairdresser are more than happy to do my hair, because they are stepping out of their own comfort zone. And they will let me know, that they've never worked on a Black person's hair, but they are willing to try their best. They do and will ask questions, which I don't mind at all and I have to say, I have no complaints. So Wendy go kick rocks, on the freeway, at rush hour. Sorry Wendy, not sorry!
I am in awe of your lack of shedding and breakage! Wendy could have kept her comment to herself. Why would you care if she thinks her hair is superior? 🤨 She saw someone loving her hair and tried to bring you down.
My natural hair is not soft and sometimes it is difficult, but I love it and would not change it for the world. A survey was done asking white women how they feel about our hair and the majority said they did not like it. I saw this on an episode of the real. White women naturally discriminates against black women hair regardless of what we say.
This all start with us. We are too afraid of our Afro ethnic hair. We have been taught that our hair in its natural state is not beautiful and then came the "natural hair community on social media telling us we need to wash & go with 90% of all influencers having curly or close to caucasian hair. I grew up washing my coily hair every Saturday and ot never took me 1 hour. Then comes youtube with a million steps and instructions and people taking hours talking about creating time to look after the hair growing out of your own scalp. We created this dam mess in the first place.
wende's comment definitely struck me in a bad place, because it was giving very much "superiority complex," but that being said, Jenn makes the best point in this video that sooooooooooooo many other black people (men and women) GIVE white people the space to even think those things by saying them themselves about their own hair or other black people's hair. Whether they wear their loose natural hair, want to loc it up, "prefer" wigs and weaves, "prefer" straight or 'textured' and relaxed or have a gina curl, this type of speech comes out of black men and women's mouths 10X more than it would any white person. Just look at the "giving myself a perm after X years natural" videos... If you want a perm do you, but we could do without the prologue discussing how unbearable and unmanageable and detestable your hair is, because your hair looks like millions of other people's hair, so you are talking about all of us when you say those things. Still find it somewhat race-driven Wendy's comment, but Jenn makes an excellent point in that the black community does not have nicer words to tell about ourselves either. She is one of the few TRUE natural hair RUclipsrs who promotes self-love, period, and softly critiques black folk for the many ways that they refuse to embrace themselves.
I have coily hair, you can actually see the coils with no products. I will never talk bad about my hair not in my head or out loud. My hair is a part of me and its disgusting the way black women think of their own hair. They think of it as ugly and associate it with poverty. Thats why they expect celebrities to always “do their hair” or in movies where the poor person is always shown with their natural hair but once things change for them they begin to wear weaves. How then do you expect other groups of people to not have the same mentality.
That's what I thought...there's a lot of bot comments. You gotta click on the picture to see how old the account is. If it less than 1 year, 100% it's a bot. If it's less than 2yrs...it's most likely a bot as well. A lot of bots were created during the beginning of the pandemic. I ignore all comments created from accounts 2 years and younger
Who is Wendy trying to fool? We all want what we don’t have. May I point out all the perms and teasing that goes on? Bone straight hair has its own set of problems, girl we are all on the same struggle bus trying to look good. Let’s call Wendy out for what she really is… a waste of time and energy.
Tell Wendy her problem is with God. He blessed us with our hair. Take her dislikes about it and any other dislikes towards black people to Him and get all her answers. And nobody asked for her comment lol

This was a good introspection video. Thank you for your positivity😊

Clarifying is so important. Proper cleansing is something that we use to overlook but is such a crucial step. 8 am so glad my videos are useful
Thank-you for your sagacious, philosophical thoughts! Beautiful coils!
Loved this video! I didn't begin loving my hair til I reached the senior, shoulder hurting stage! 😊😊😊It's difficult for me now, and I do wear the occasional wig, but I don't trust my hair to anyone else and I am natural to the end!

What a cute hairstyle! Beautifully done
Your hair is flawless and the style was very classy!
Jenn, you’re so right.
Have a nice day!😊🌻
Lol so much love !!!!!! Come from you I really feel it!
The hair is a yes! Love ❤️ 😍
Hey Jenn.. just found out the Crown act did NOT pass the Senate floor unanimously... can you share any thoughts you have on the subject of the Crowd act and it's meaning... For those so may be sitting in the back??
The beauty of it all is that you don’t have to prove anything to anyone! I feel bad for Wendy because she doesn’t know about self love!!!
Girl yes! ❤️ this video! Love my hair as I love myself!💗💗

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Yasss! and YASSS!! love this for you! Merry Christmas🍾🍾🥂
Turned out great 🙌🏾
Turned out really cute ❤
Hi Jenn
Another great video. Love the dazzle dazzle
Your hair is very very cute
Not God being questioned for HIS decision to crown us ever so gloriously with these kinks, hell NO.
Rise up!
🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
So mad I'm just now seeing this video. Truly loved it. Whats a wash hour without some signing lol
My 7yr old 4c cutie wanted me to leave a comment saying your hair is pretty 😘
Oh wow! Tell her I say thank you :)
Like always ... It's beautiful Jenn💖
Hi Jenn how would I know if I had 4c hair? Is 4c curly or coily?
Love!
Gm iam a 80 year old lady what I need to no will this wash $ go work on stuby grey hair reply back please thanks
Cuuuuuute! ❤
Wow Wendy she just had to let that out right? Must've been killing her for years😂
Beautiful
Lol the style
I live and still live in an predominant Caucasian town and have not had any problem going into an Caucasian salon and get my hair done. I don't get charged any more than my Caucasian friends, a majority of the hairdresser are more than happy to do my hair, because they are stepping out of their own comfort zone. And they will let me know, that they've never worked on a Black person's hair, but they are willing to try their best. They do and will ask questions, which I don't mind at all and I have to say, I have no complaints. So Wendy go kick rocks, on the freeway, at rush hour. Sorry Wendy, not sorry!
Super cute 'do with the Doux ❤️
Cute!!
❤❤❤❤❤
Yassssss Jenn get Wendy together!! They are obviously ignorant of the marvelousness of textured hair. IYKYK! I love it here
❤
I am in awe of your lack of shedding and breakage!
Wendy could have kept her comment to herself. Why would you care if she thinks her hair is superior? 🤨 She saw someone loving her hair and tried to bring you down.
❤️
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
My natural hair is not soft and sometimes it is difficult, but I love it and would not change it for the world. A survey was done asking white women how they feel about our hair and the majority said they did not like it. I saw this on an episode of the real. White women naturally discriminates against black women hair regardless of what we say.
That was weird in itself. I wonder why a survey was even done asking white women what they think about black women’s hair. Like, WHO CARES!
The whites 😂
Guilty guilty 😩
wende's comment definitely struck me in a bad place, because it was giving very much "superiority complex," but that being said, Jenn makes the best point in this video that sooooooooooooo many other black people (men and women) GIVE white people the space to even think those things by saying them themselves about their own hair or other black people's hair.
Agree with you sis.
But why was Wendy even on OUR beauty hair regime? Bye wendy.
It is not working
I have coily hair, you can actually see the coils with no products. I will never talk bad about my hair not in my head or out loud. My hair is a part of me and its disgusting the way black women think of their own hair. They think of it as ugly and associate it with poverty. Thats why they expect celebrities to always “do their hair” or in movies where the poor person is always shown with their natural hair but once things change for them they begin to wear weaves. How then do you expect other groups of people to not have the same mentality.
...is Wendy real? Or is she? someone that wants to trigger a comment?
amazing how people can hide behind the internet to make such comments!
They are always so bold behind a keyboard 😒
That's what I thought...there's a lot of bot comments. You gotta click on the picture to see how old the account is. If it less than 1 year, 100% it's a bot. If it's less than 2yrs...it's most likely a bot as well. A lot of bots were created during the beginning of the pandemic. I ignore all comments created from accounts 2 years and younger
The weirdest question I've ever been asked by non-backs was "do you wash you hair when you have braids (extensions) in them?" 😂 duh!!
Who is Wendy trying to fool? We all want what we don’t have. May I point out all the perms and teasing that goes on? Bone straight hair has its own set of problems, girl we are all on the same struggle bus trying to look good. Let’s call Wendy out for what she really is… a waste of time and energy.
Best perspective Jenn. 🤎🤎🤎
Tell Wendy her problem is with God. He blessed us with our hair. Take her dislikes about it and any other dislikes towards black people to Him and get all her answers. And nobody asked for her comment lol
