Marty is one of the very best teachers on youtube. Easy to understand, very well played, and absolutely not a condescending attitude. He doesn't take himself too seriously, an admirable thing. He's having fun doing it and he is good at it. I use his vids to teach certain things, and I learn something, too. He is almost always correct on things and the guy can really play. Keep it up, Marty! We love ya!
Wow...with a name like David Moses I would have expected more. Why a nasty comment about Marty when he's so talented and gracious to teach others? And..it's for free.
Why would anyone take the time to write a negative comment about Marty...? I mean really, the guy is a loaded with awesome shred skills and he's actually cracking his eggs of wisdom all over us.. FOR FREE! I guess haters gonna hate.. Keep it up bro, you ARE the bees knees!
I owe so much to the man! I only wish he really knew how much he touches our lives. He is a very generous man for doing what he does by giving us free tuition. I wish more people were like Marty Schwartz, blessings my RUclips guru!! Dr Guy UK.
+tenodogblu I hope he is making money on his DVD lessons. I'm just starting out and have benefited so much so quickly from his lessons, thinking about supporting him buy purchasing something from him.
Dude, I have absolutely nothing but gratitude for you Marty. I have always wanted to master blues guitar, and my skills have visibly and audibly improved. Much love from Dallas, TX!
I've been "playing" guitar for about two years now; basically just self-teaching myself and not putting any pressure on "shredding". I've always wanted to learn and now that I have plenty of time on my hands, I'm going for it. My first love is the Blues and GuitarJamz/Marty Swartz is giving me the tools to learn the basics, so many thanks to both! Cheers!!
He's so good at showing where fingers should go on the fretboard, breaking up the licks etc. As a beginner/intermediate student trying to learn some acoustic blues, he's the best.
This was great, thanks, been searching for "advanced guitar lesson" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Wanichael Corylexander Equalizer - (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my partner got great success with it.
I just wanna say thanks Marty, when I was starting out a couple years ago I could barely play Come As You Are, now I'm playing in bands and able to pick up most songs by ear. I definitively wouldn't have been motivated to continue without your videos man, thank you!
Marty, it is videos like this one, where you're teaching more theory and technique, much more than the ones where you are teaching a specific song that have improved my playing. The single song vids teach me to play a song. This teaches me to play guitar. Thanks!
Marty, you are definately the best teacher I have ever had both online and in person. My skills have progressed so much faster after watching your videos. YOU F-N RULE!
Marty is undoubtedly a prophet sent from the heavens for making the guitar easy to understand and keeps my underwear soaked with joy as I obtain more and more knowledge one lesson at a time. Marty I thank you arms I'm sure the men's underwear sales department
You are a musically engaged player/teacher - so important. I like how this makes me think through all the little the scraps and bits I know, and add to them, and look at new possibilities. Keep up the great stuff!
Had to login just to say that this is probably the best single lesson I've watched on youtube. Taught me SO many things I wanted to know but didn't know how to find/what to call them. Awesome.
Marty, you have a skill at making it digestable. I learn from your teaching the way you break it down. Plus you are obviously having a good time. Thanks
Marty, you are the best teacher on the net (i've watched em all too so I'm not just sayin it without heart). I play mostly power rock/metal and drop tuning stuff but all of a sudden I've gotten hooked on pickin and playin blues stuff. I picked up a mustang II amp for practicing and dowloaded a bunch of excellent clean tones and have been watching all kinds of your licks and progression vids. My wife is like "Wut? Where did all this come from?" and I'm like "Marty man! He's the shizzle!!".
Marty, that was a magnificent demonstration of blues possibilities. It was exactly what I went looking for, ideas, a demonstration. And you did it with your usual class and style. Thank you for that. Frank
wow. this video has had more hits than granmas mazda. well done marty! keep em comin. you are mass educating the hidden guitarists of the world. we are all waiting for the next riff or lick vid to blow us all away. we then watch intently, mimic the riff and feel the achievement. gotta love the internet. gotta love marty. thank you
Very many thanks to you, Mr. Marty Jamz!!!! I am following your lessons. You are one of my best ideal guitar teachers. I really appreciate your blues lessons. Thanks!
Marty, you're an ANIMAL!! thanks SO much for the awesome lesson! you break it down in a way that makes it seem easy so the viewer doesn't get discouraged! THANK YOU!!
move up a fret on the fifth string; the e7 chord is third string first fret (G#) and fifth string second fret(B), no c's involved. hope that helps. --edit-- you're switching to an a harmonic minor scale for the e7 chord. it's not part of the e minor blues scale, it actually happens all of the time. i found a short site with a paragraph that explains it a bit better if you're still kind of confused - guitarabout (.) com / od/specificlessons/ss/harmonic_minor_10.htm
thanx Marty I cant afford guitar lessons and my friends are too busy to help me craft my songs so this is sooo helpful, will post my first song on you tube and send you the link as soon as i have it completed. You the best :)
I just love these lessons they are awesome and its so easy to learn when you been playing blues a much harder way, thanks so much for the lessons they are great!!!!
that's right, it's a great feeling :D it took me a while to get good at that bluesy playing but now i can do some (easy) improvising on my own. Marty's lessons really help a lot!
I always wondered how to do that chromatic thingmazig from D string (4th fret so from G) down to E. now I know what it looks like!! Many thanks for this fantastic, bluesy and soulful vid :)
Great job as usual, Marty, i do enjoy your lessons that you post but you also have some really awesome dvd's at great prices and they have really helped me learn blues guitar. Thanks again Rick
Thank You, Man! You are a really good Teacher!!! \m/ Just a poor girl in the middle of Utah that wants to play around the campfire like my friends used to up in SLC 'cause I miss their music
Wonderful on screen style with this guy...well spoken not lots of "uuhs and aahs"...straight forward and for me some great reviews on a steel string. I play nylon a lot. THANKS MARTY!!!! I like the baby laughing in the back gound too.
Marty, thanks for taking all the time to teach for free. I hope you sell a lot of swag on your site, you really teach at a great pace. Any chance on a lesson in how to make awesome face? i love the raunchy grimmace, and the surprised face when you play that B13 chord.
you can play the different blues pentatonic scales over each chord (i.e. E pent on E7 chord, A pent on A7 and B pent on B7)...but if it's an E-blues then you can also just play the E pentatonic and extend it to incorporate the other notes. I hope that makes sense!?
i do not play guitar so i wont follow that part of your talent but ill look for more of you and your talented friend! Aly? ally? alley Ali?? i dont know sorry but her voice is so naturally beautiful!!! and you look like a good dude thanks for that and thanks for loving music! apparently music loves you too!!!
b string slide 3 to 5th fret (strum b and open high e) slide back to the 3 then slide 2 to 4 on g (strum g and open b) then add in the 3rd fret of b. slide back to 2 on G as you let go of the third on b (so it would end up like it started) hope that helps
I find it strange how I love listening to rock but I can't really play anything rock-related on guitar, I don't listen to the blues but all I love to play it on my guitarXD Playing the blues is just awesome. I'm not that great at guitar so shredding is just completely out of my league, however blues is just so relaxed and anyone can play it and have fun!
@Toby48624 you could switch the scale you use as the chords change, use the pentatonic for the chord being played so E pent over E7, A over A7 and so on, just a thought, but of course all the notes for the progression are already in E pentatonic
Marty thank you very much for your lessons of guitar I am of venezuela am 20 years old am called daniel and indeed I have learned too much, am a novice in the guitar and indeed that with your lessons does not exist the one who who is compared, costs me aveces a bit due to the fact that I do not speak very well the Englishman but have could understand you, follows this way my brother that to see your lessons, regards from venezuela caracas.
So if I am right, you can just about add any note from the corresponding minor pentatonic... It does seem that way if you take notice of which notes are used.
Your the Man...Marti ! Teach easy style the rest is up to us to experiment and explore boy do u set some home work..love it to push the boundrys kept it up as you are apprecaited...!
I watched the video lesson on 'Good Riddance'. Had the root chords right, but wrong derivatives. Marty made it SIMPLE, and I was playing it in minutes, albeit roughly! A bit more practice and I'll be ready to throw in the words! THANKS!!!!!!
Marty is one of the very best teachers on youtube. Easy to understand, very well

i love how he just has little moments when he just zones out and starts jammin
So many times I just zone out while recording and when I snap back to reality an hour came and went😂
Marty, it is videos like this one, where you're teaching more theory and technique, much more than the ones where you are teaching a specific song that have improved my playing. The single song vids teach me to play a song. This teaches me to play guitar. Thanks!
i love how he plays those kick-ass solos and then just says: "Get the idea, right.."
Marty you sure know your way around that machine...i love how you make all those cord changes and notes without even looking at what your doing.
this lesson is gold.Thank you Marty!!

The lick at 3.57 is slick, that's what I've been trying to nail all evening.
I find it strange how I love listening to rock but I can't really play anything rock-related on guitar, I don't listen to the blues but all I love to play it on my guitarXD

Thanks again Marty. Another fantastic lesson.
So many comments, yet no likes.. 🤔 awesome playing by the way, the video quality is high quality for 10years old.
THE ONLY BETTER TEACHER THEN HIM IN THE INTERNET IS THE GUY FROM UK THAT MAKES EVERYTHING LOOKS EASY
Great video!!
I like your teaching style too. Straight forward and simple.
So if I am right, you can just about add any note from the corresponding minor pentatonic... It does seem that way if you take notice of which notes are used.
Oh my goodness thanks for getting right down to it. Other videos the people just go on and on and I get no where with the video :) Thanks!!!

Love the lesson, I can seriously listen to watch Marty play for days. Does no one else hear that baby sneezing/coughing/crying at 2:13 though??
I watched the video lesson on 'Good Riddance'. Had the root chords right, but wrong derivatives. Marty made it SIMPLE, and I was playing it in minutes, albeit roughly! A bit more practice and I'll be ready to throw in the words! THANKS!!!!!!
