The animation staff of black clover is working their hardest despite underpay and overwork to make every episode look as good as it can possible get even with the limited time and resources they have. if people watched Black Clover for its animation and art style, they would’ve dropped it long ago, because it doesn’t deliver this quality every single episode, but we watch Black Clover because the story is just that good, Black Clover is solely surviving and prospering despite the shitty treatment it got from Pierrot because of how good it is story-wise Not every episodes will be looking like 158, and there's nothing wrong with that. As long as it's consistent within the episode there's no need to be alarmed. Not every episode is going to look like episode 158 because Black Clover is a long running anime that takes no seasonal breaks, that’s why it’s impossible to produce this quality of animation and art style every week, it might be possible to produce great animation every couple of episodes but most episodes will be average and some episodes might even look bad depending on the schedule Black Clover received from Studio Pierrot, if Black Clover has a very good schedule expect more episodes to look amazing but of course even then the majority will be average. Black Clover character designs from the manga are very detailed with many any small details, the hair of a character alone is a horror to animate because it’s not like Boruto where their hair is like a painted wall without any realism, Black Clover character designs, their facial expressions, eyes, Noses, ears, hair, muscles and simply everything looks extremely beautiful and detailed in the manga and it’s not possible to produce that level of quality in every episode. And that’s normal, just always know that some black clover episodes will have to suffer and look not that good for other episodes to look great, this has always been the formula black clover has been following, because it’s a long running anime. One piece and Hxh are 2 very big exceptions and unique cases that won’t happen again.

black clover is one of those that many people cant get into because of how the first few arcs are presented. but it pays off so heavy when you get to the elf invasion arc, and as a manga reader truss me this spade arc is filled with hype moments and a lot of peaks that get you excited

What I do when watching the first episode of a new season is watch the episode first and make sure to finish it and and don't watch the ending outright either just incase and after that I go back and rewatch it so that I never get spoiled and It works most of the time.
A couple of animators from ufotable studio (the ones who worked on the fate series) are apparently helping supervise the animation for this arc from what I’ve heard. And so far, it’s really showing more consistency and is shaping up super well. Can’t wait for more.
