Great find. I bought a new 413G stove dated 08/77 unused earlier this year. Works like a champ. Grew up with Coleman stoves & lanterns, love the hiss. We camp a lot, as in 2 times a month, and 8 monthes of the year. I have several types of cooking setups, most are propane, and a small wood/charcoal portable grille. I decided that to regress to a white gas stove was an easier way to go, I was right, once. lol We have used Coleman lanterns for our night lighting chores for years. Your channel came up in my feed. Great vid, I do like your chuck box concept, very innovative design. Subscribed to your channel. From Central Texas hello. See you on the trail.
The 1977 stove was a great find. I know some people think everyone needs one and other think it is a bother to use the white gas stoves. You sound like the right person for the stove. I also have 3 small Colman stoves, two of them were sold under the Peak1 brand. It says Colman in small print. Texas weather is better this time of year. Make some new memories and take the youth with you so they can disconnect and feel free from the digital age. The chuck box is coming out soon. Thanks for watching to the end.
I bought one 14 yrs ago at Walmart, I think it cost $99.00, It's a duel fuel, but I've only used white gas! And I think I still got a good deal, high quality, old school tec. I think they quit making them, so I'm glad I got one! Great for car camping or when the power goes out! Mine looks brand new, I think I'm going out to the garage and pull it out and fire it up@??
@@badbadbob1 I ordered mine from Amazon and was $22 when I bought it, I see there $26 now. Called “Stansport” propane converter. Kinda nice to have for options if you run out of white gas.
Just stumbled on this - I ain't used mine for some time. Don't look away before you light it... was on a Scouting campout and another Scout turned it up higher 😂 definitely will surprise you! Use my lantern more often. Never did, but wanted to get one of those kitchens - stand/table setups - probably can't find any nowadays. This was definitely a great find, they're all bottled gas ones now.
You are right, they are hard to come by and even harder to find new. As long as they sell the can of white gas I will be happy. Did you see the sneak peek at the end of the video?
What a find! I have two of these stoves. One is from the late 60 and the other from the early 70's. I also have aluminum leg stand you referenced on the box. Classic camping gear.
I am hoping to swindle a leg set from one of the wife's cousin. He thinks he still has one in the deep dark corners of his shop. Question, How well do the legs hold the stove from shaking?
Yes if you keep it clean and dry on a shelf in the garage it will never fail you. Even with 20year old white gas in it. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Good morning Bob. What a find. You scored big! 1978 was a good year. I wish I had it back. I bought a slightly newer " used" Coleman and love it! I got a non stick , two sided griddle to place on top. The unit is quick and easy to place on our picnic table. Mine takes the little propane bottle.
I have a new cook kit I found with the zippered bag cook pot Ladle tea pot and two plates. I am putting it in my chuck box because of its size and compact design.
Dad bought one back in 1972 or 1973. We had a bad ice storm that winter and when the weatherman predicted it a few days prior, Dad ran out to KMart and bought the 2 burner stove and a couple gallons of fuel. We cooked on that for about two weeks while we were without power. It sat unused in his basement after that because we weren't campers and we never had another power outage that warranted breaking it out again. After Dad died, it sat neglected in my basement for about ten years before I decided to set it up and see if it still worked. It didn't, so I bought parts to rebuild the pump, cleaned everything and got it working, then needed it a few months later during a prolonged power outage. I had a can of 1970s Coleman fuel and it worked fine, that probably around 2010. Haven't used it since, but keep thinking I'm going to get it out and make sure it still works.
Used to have one when I was a kid. Used it all the time. Bought one off eBay last year new in box. I paid considerably more for it though. To me they're worth it.
I saw the box and grabbed it, I was more suppressed it was new in the box. I did not see the price until I took it to the register and they looked at the tag they put on the stove inside the cardboard. She said $8.99 and I about fell over. Did you see the new upcoming project at the end of the video?
@badbadbob1 Great deal. Wish I could run across something like that. Yes I saw the upcoming vid. Looking forward to it. We run the river in jet boats and we usually cook at a gravel bar when we're there. That box looks like a great idea. I think I'll build something like that after I watch the video. Thanks!
That is great. The fuel holds up for years. But I just pulled out my 1979 Colman that I used about 5 years ago and found the pump needs a new seal. Check it now to make sure it still works. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Yes fond childhood memories comping with no tent just a car full of blankets we put out on the army tarp we put down first. That was it. It never rained on us, but the heave due got the top quilt damp every night. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
The stove My uncle had was from the early 60's It was at every campout and hunting camp. Good memories of them. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Did you see the sneak peek at the end?
have one one from maybe the 80s not sure have a propane Coleman as well about a year or two ago got one of the single burner dual fuel stoves just a better option vs propane for one you just open the cap and see how much fuel you have to there’s options of what you can burn in case of an emergency and only have gasoline it works not as good as Coleman fuel but you can boil water and cook a meal so that’s what counts another great video hope there’s more wood cook stove content coming as it’s winter time / holidays everything taste better on a woodstove
Yes I keep an eye out for a good deal This was a great find. Did you see what I was building at the end of the video? It will all come together soon. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
LOL it did burp when the funnel filled up so fast. The trick is to put a short straw in the funnel to stop the burping. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
That is a great find. I have 2 Peak 1 single burner stoves I paid $5.99 each for and a Colman single burner at the same price. They work with the old fuel in them. So keep it in a dry place and it will work for you when needed.
That is great. As long as the pump seals keep up. I oil mine with gun oil. Why Because that is the oil i have in the truck when I go hunting and camping. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
You are so right. We cooked on the white gas stove all week and never ran out of fuel But them canisters stoves sure eat up the bottles. Did you see the sneak peek at the end?
I do not believe they make the white gas stove anymore. Propane is so much easier then them two burner heavy bullet proof gas stoves. Thanks watching to the end. Thanks Just Mike for stopping by and commenting.
That’s a GREAT deal , I remember Dad getting one back in the 1960’s and used it for years.
My uncles was from the same era. That one worked for years as I camped with the family.
I remember traveling south with grandparents and stopping at roadside table to cook bacon and eggs . Best smell in the world
That is a great memory to share with us all. Thanks for stopping by and commenting
@zeke5491 theirs nothing better, than the smell of eggs and beacon in the morning!
This is exactly how I like to find stoves/lanterns. Brand new with yesterday's quality!!!!
You are so right. Made in the USA. Did you see the sneak peek at the end of the video?
Nice. Plus yes, would love to see more Chuck box videos.
You got that stove for a steal. I'm jealous!

I have 2 of them stoves, one I converted to propane. I also have a single burner, they are great stoves!
Congrats on your nice find.
I have heard of a propane kit for the Coleman, But I bet it would cost more then the Goodwill stove. lol. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

The propane is the way to make a quick meal on the griddle. Very useful if the power goes out. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Me and my buds used these back in the 70's we were always camping and fishing
It was the go to stove for many camp trips. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. did you see the project at the end of the video?

nice bit of old kit..will last forever
