- The small Marian Hegemony is a neo roman empire in miniature. Controlled by it's caesar the hegemony has grand ambitions of becoming one of the periphery's major powers. Tightly modelled on the society of ancient Rome, the Hegemony makes no attempt to hide it's regular use of slaves to boost it's economy and make the patricians happy.
Despite it's outward appearance as a tiny dictatorship with delusions of grandeur, the hegemony boasts some surprisingly capable troops that favour battlemechs over regular armour, making it a feared opponent for other periphery nations. The Lothian league being it's first of potentially many conquests going forward, post clan invasion.

And I find it hysterical how everyone harps on about the Clans being furries when there's literally a nation of people roleplaying Rome badly.

The difference they use tech.
From my (admittedly brief) research, these guys actually managed to fight thr Circinus Federation to a standstill during the Jihad, and now stand poised to take a more central role going forward. Although relations with their Peripheral brothers and sisters remains frosty, and their only real friend in the Sphere seems to be House Marik.
Yeah the Marian forces are pretty well drilled and well equipped. The main stumbling block for them is their rather strict society which makes them difficult to work with in any cooperative sense.
The Marian Hegemony is probably my favourite faction in all of Battletech tbh. I love EVERYTHING about them.

09:18 It helps if my geography isn't far off, that the Marians are in the FAR SOUTH Periphery, while the entirety of the Clans and their invasion routes are in the FAR NORTH Periphery. The opposite ends of the known limits of explored space.
Yep. They are to the south west of the Inner Sphere. Left side of the Magistracy and south west of Marik. They have their own shenanigans going on with lesser states but generally keep to themselves for the most part.

Battletech has plenty of weird stuff. Space romans, space samurai, space mongols, space feudal china, cult religious space monks who run the interstellar comms network.

Awesome video as always. if I could make a request, is there any way you could show some camo scheme's or base colors of the clan/house/periphery or maybe special unit lore?
I could try it for some 'mechs yeah. The main issue is the colour channels which sometimes don't work and I don't have a ton of colours myself. They are so expensive haha. But if I can get something together I will make a montage of colours based on specific houses/clans/periphery states and the 'mechs they use. No promises on time for that but I will add it to my video list :)
Critical Rocket definitely I wouldn't expect anyone sane to spent THAT much on colored pixels lol. But maybe just a slate in the video showing the average scheme of notable units in lore or maybe just a few squares of a base, secondary, and accent if used?

Do they have gladiator matches (human on foot or in mech) in this empire?
So far as I know the Marian Hegemony does have a version of the arena. Given the harsh nature of the state, they do have combat on foot and 'mech, although executions do happen as well.
