Having run an R model Mack pulling 26ft frame dump for silage in Ga, and running a 1200 bushel graincart in Colorado. The harvester is king, you are just there to serve as wait staff. Like in any job with equipment, there are drivers. And there are operators who know exactly how to dance, when to change partners...and can hear a bearing going out.
I said it before " I always cringe when silage blows past the cart." Once you said you plan it for the comments. It's just that the farmers do all the prep work on the ground before planting, prepping the planter, applying chemicals, fertilizer applications and time the plants take to grow, just to have the product blow to the ground. That is why I cringe. Even for 1 plant. Happy subscriber 😊!
You should come out to Morris MN to Riverview Dairy! We're planning on starting silage the week of Aug 21, using Claas 990s, dump carts with tracks, and trucks, with dozer 4WDs packing close to 100k tons into each pile
Dad Ran a custom chopping business out in Eastern Washington in the mid 70's and early 80's. He did alfalfa and corn chopping both and put up between 200 and 300,000 tons per year. I always enjoyed running one of the choppers and eventually bought my own truck and ran a 66 Chevrolet 10 wheeler to haul with.
Great video as always. Corn looks a little better than northwestern Il. They are talking about starting picking seed corn in our area in next couple weeks.
Thanks for the video and all that you do to make it do you even make it to the driftless region of Wisconsin it would be fun to see the difference between flat ground and hanging on by your toenails ground but really thank you Mike
Always enjoy your silage videos. Maybe it's just the perspective from the drone but it seems like the silage pad is too small to hold all the corn they're going to harvest.
Man if the steiger had to stop for the chopper quick that dummy in the Deere would be right in the back of the wagon. Choppers gotta stop when the wagons full anyways just stay back. Been there done that
My 5yo is excited to see another forage harvester video!
Corn chopping time is great😁👍 it's always nice to see a chopper running and to smell fresh corn silage👍👍

Approximately how many acres do you chop?
@@myronparks3495 I think each chopper does around 3000.

Mike I’m excited about seeing silage and harvest videos, have you ever seen anyone harvest sunflowers? I always wondered how they did it.
I have seen sunflower harvest but have not done a video of it yet
Job a sir
How many ton do the Penta and Meyer boxes haul?
Yes!!!!!!!
Love your videos, but that is some pretty poor corn............
That early
Why he leaves lines of corn?
😎😎
Wonder how much fuel a chopper like that goes thru in an hour
hate to see them purposely spill on the ground
