Wow!....I've seen a TON of these vids....and this has to be my favorite so far! Killer sound....you can really hear the environment! Well done fella's...well done!
129richter- what is the size of the vessel in this video? It is very gripping to hear the wind accelerate when the ship reaches the tops of the swells.
This brings back bad memories from when my family and I were crossing from Ft. Lauderdale Florida to the Bahamas and we got hit by a rogue wave that must've been 100-150 feet tall. It ripped the boat apart and somehow we managed to get the distress beacon out and we actually got into the life raft. I still sail but i definitely learned my lesson not to go out in such bad conditions.
yikes, that is a small and ordinary looking yacht to be doing drakes passage, hats off to you guys. i was in a similar boat in similar conditions off south west ireland and it was intimidating enough.
Great video but where is the shiny stuff and why is the gear so worn out? I love the smell of deep ocean musty funk and wish I was alone on a raft in the Drake Passage again.
@gustboehmer wow... you have huge ones to make this passage in a "Bendy-toe" I wouldn't want to make that passage on a aircraft carrier, let alone a coastal cruiser.
Whew... impressive sailing. Awe-inspiring. Loved the sound of the wind in the rigging.
truly one of the best sailing videos I have seen.

I've seen worse seas. This is actually pretty good for the Southern Ocean.
Great stuff! Keep it up!

Kind of looks like one of the Palagic boats in Skip Novak's fleet.
@gustboehmer sorry but this is a either a steel or aluminium boat ; certainly not a beneteau
look at the rusty foredeck

its between argentina and the antartic peninsula, they call it drake pass, its the roughest seas on earth.

can you imagine how much more scary things are at night?
Great vid1
Terrific clip thankyou

my premonition. i will lose my life here
This is the boat and these are seamen. Shure they will go back .
All the best.
