      Good to hear! I added blue Actinic to the T5 fixture and the Atlas still over powered it lol. So with the meso Blue bars, it blend in and makes it a bit bluer?

    • @johngraves2185
      @johngraves2185 3 месяца назад +1

      Yes it helps, but it’s still not blue like most people are used to. I’m a halide user, so it’s great.

    • @queencityreefs
      @queencityreefs  3 месяца назад

      I don't mind it. Definitely not looking for "ab+" look. Just a bit of that blue hue when both on. What I meant though, do the meso Blue lights alone (with Atlas off) give that nice bright florescence?

    • @johngraves2185
      @johngraves2185 3 месяца назад +1

      Yes, the MB’s have great color “pop” when it’s just them. Because their spectrum is just blue and violet, they’re designed to fluoresce and highlight those colors/pigments. What’s really nice is they have a nice subtle shimmer to them. If you replaced the T5’s with the helix meso blues, would have control of dimming them as well and they would give you that “pop”.

      @adamhudson6812 most definitely. Keep me updated on that. I eventually plan to add those to my system. More for the Coral pop as these lights don't need any supplementation from a PAR perspective.

    Your fish looked gorgeous under this light. I am guessing with the dimmable control you will be able to go to the increased par in increments - it is a big jump in par from your previous set up and might upset your corals.

      @queencityreefs  3 месяца назад

      Thank you! I thought so too but amazingly, the corals have reacted very positively. I will say I only ran them without the contrability feature for 3 days. I've been able to control them since.

    Great Review Dennis! I figured I'd give you my quick and dirty review as well. I've been running the Quanta Atlas on a Red Sea Reefer170 for 2 weeks now. I have it set at the 150w setting and running through my Hydros controller at 25% with an AI Blade grow for supplemental blues.
    Pro for me:
    - Price. For a light fixture with power to easily grow acro and anything else it can't be beat.
    - Durability. These lights are built to industrial standards. They are in fact industrial lights used for warehouses and anywhere that lights are hung high and need to be last.
    - Power. I think the 3 level power supply is the saving grace for this light. If I wasn't able to use it at 150w, theres no way I could have used the light.
    - Dimmable. Again, I realize other lights are app controlled right out of the box. but this light having that 0-10v dimmability makes it usable on more tanks.
    - Flexibility. All of this adds up to this light being able to be used on a wide range of tanks.
    Con's for me:
    - Spectrum. Some will not like how white this light is. It tends to make purples look brown to pink and there is really no pop of colors used standalone. Very natural light. And shows all of the problems in the tank.
    - Needs Supplemental Light. The spectrum gives the coals everything they need. However, for viewing and that pop we all love you need to supplement with a blue or actinic add on light. That really hurts the affordability aspect.
    - Dimmable. Yes I called it a Pro, and it is on an otherwise undimmable Chinese industrial light. But the cluster is only dimmable to 10%. So anything under that and the light shuts off. Keep that in mind when setting it up.
    I will be running this light for the foreseeable future. But after running it for a few weeks now I really can't say it's for everyone. This is coming from a Kessil a360x over the RS170. That light did all it needed to for the tank and was more adjustable. But man I really dig the natural light look.

    • @queencityreefs
      @queencityreefs  3 месяца назад +1

      Definitely agree with all of this. I had no clue of the dimmable to 10%. It definitely isn't for everyone. These are commercial lights for sure. Thanks so much for your feedback. Definitely will cover those on my long term review.

    I’ve been a fan of your channel and appreciate your input on this light for sure.. I’m still running halides on my display so this led is right up
    My alley. As with halides, for a display it requires a lot of blue light to balance it out and get the pop. These atlas look like halide light to me. They look f-ing awesome. To balance it would I would leave the t5 hood (2 blue + and 2 actinic), but I would also add 2 blue reefbrite xho or the Quanta equivalent of it. The t5 and led strips would be long photoperiod with the atlas only coming on 3-5 hours per day as needed. This is like 20x lighting increase for your xr-15s lol. High energy reefing!!!

    Great long-form vid. Those Atlas are beasts! Something to check…measure the wattage of the Radions and the T5 combo. Once you get your 0-10V set, I think you’ll see that you PAR/watt is higher with the Atlas. You will save on that electric bill.
    Again, great vid! 👊

    I love the ATi Stratton pro’s as well , dream lights , but can justify the price £1800 to cover my tank . , I added 2 ai blade grow to my 2 ai 32hd’s to help with the shadowing off my tank , as have 70% sps . Lights you bought remind me a lot off MH from good old days . Couldn’t beat them for growth and giving out a usable uv .

    • @queencityreefs
      @queencityreefs  3 месяца назад

      Yes, they do give a MH look w/ out the UV though. I wish it did have UV. But I will tell you that the corals have responded so well. Not just a small barely noticeable difference. A true polyp extension difference. Now to see how much they grow and how fast. I miss the blues. But eventually i'll get that with their bars. Just need to save up for that LOL.
