Your video is so thorough! Haha, really enjoyed the video. I'm headed to teach English in about 2 weeks. It was great to pick up on the little things on what I can get in Korea and what you brought from home. Thank you!!
i watched your 11 Things I hate about Sk and then came here and i'm glad i did..you are by far the most honest down to earth beautiful soul i saw on youtube and your laid back personality is just infectious..I am a Huge Kdrama fan and although i'm older i can appreciate people more and girl your a sweet heart keep your videos coming no matter how brutally honest you are just be yourself and ignore the haters..Its the way the world is, sad but its reality..Bless You and Keep growing
Kimmyonaquest Welcome down under gf.(girlfriend)lol..best time is December/January..summertime yeah! but we are now having Autumn(fall) and it feels like spring/summer some days..like today real time now 4;30pm Friday afternoon..its 25c thats celcius Not farenheit..and its warm and a bit cloudy,Friday April 15/2016
Really like the apartment. It's way bigger than I expected and I love the amount of storage that you get. The only thing that bothers me, is not having an oven 😢. But other than that, awesome home and an amazing video xx
Ok I'm 8:36 into the video and all I've seen so far is shoes, sauces and peanut butter. I'm pretty sure I'll see or hear something interesting soon, like details of the apartment, the area, the people, the job, but I'm really starting to wonder :P
Nahhh I made it to 13 mins but I can't stomach the thought of been talked through all those bloody bottles of nail polish. That's enough for me I'm gone
What you missed directly after that is her going through her American pharmaceuticals so you got out at a good time Also thank you so much for the amazing laugh
i am watching this now and it's 5:37 am , i just wanna fulfill my dream and teach abroad !! your video gave me some hope and determination !! Thanks !!
Crystal Lyn Johnson Hey! You should be able to bring anything that your heart desires. I would check with your airline for checked baggage restrictions, but the options are limitless...besides contraband and drugs.
+kocoa hollis It's just not common for Korean households to have dryers...Idk why, but all my friends also have no dryers so we just hang dry our clothes. Luckily, the floor heat and space heaters are keeping me alive this winter!
I second Carri below...thanks so much for sharing every aspect of your EPIK life! I'm going to Korea next month to teach with EPIK too! I'm just wondering, did you bring your own knives and pots/pans or was the apt already stocked with some?
+Lenimida You're very welcome! I did not bring any utensils, pot/pans with me because it would have been too much to carry. I was fortunate that the previous teachers left behind a lot of the basic necessities (utensils, dishes, pots, pans, cups, plates, bowls, etc...). I would recommend waiting to see what your apartment may be stocked with before purchasing these things. Also, it is easy to find most of these at a local store or market! I hope this helps!
Lenimida asked Kim i know both of you are great content creator of being an EPIK teacher, both of you are my favorate Vloggers in this kind of content also insert (fancy nancy TV) haha.. do some collabs :D.. More Power Guys!
Love your video! Thanks for being so thorough. Can you make a video about what gifts to bring for the school's principal and co -teacher? And by the way, do you remember you very first day as a teacher?? I'm superb anxious. I'm moving there in roughly 3 weeks!!!
+mOOnpEEls They say that it's good to bring a gift that is something from where you are from. I brought bourbon and gourmet chocolates from the state of Kentucky, because that's where I stayed before I moved to Korea. My first day as a teacher was quite uneventful. I sat at my desk most of the day, and only got to see one other teacher teach her class.

Hi Kimmy...yeah but the entire floor gets wet too. I don't understand the bath room situation in Korea. But, some newer apartments are updating to American style facilities. For that, I'm happy there is government housing and Korea leased apartments. Cute little crib, smile. Get a foot step dear, LOL. Randy
+Randy Griffin Yeah, it was annoying at first to me that the entire bathroom floor gets wet but I've gotten used to it. It dries pretty quickly. This is actually the case in many asian countries.
Damn girl, you have some pretty legs and hands, smile. What part of Georgia are you from? I don't recognize the location/Dong you're in...what major city are you near? Cute little crib you have there, small but functional. RGEE
NICE PLACE...WHAT PART OF KOREA ARE YOU LIVING AND HOW IS THE EATERY AND ENTERTAINMENT PLACES...I WANT TO COME TO KOREA IN MY STUDENT UNIVERSITY PROGRAM...AND NEED A LITTLE INFO:)
Crystal Lyn Johnson I was placed in Gangwon-do province of South Korea which is considered the rural country side. There are plenty of places to eat In Korea, especially in Seoul. Enterntainment is also plentiful in the bigger cities, it just depends on where you go. I vlog and blog about my dining experiences, as well as my outings here in Korea. Feel free to watch the other videos and it should give you an idea of what is out here. My blog site is: www.Kimmyonaquest.com. if you have any other questions, feel free to email me.
Hey +Kimmyonaquest, Kinda random question but, did you bring that liquor in your carry on or checked? Also, is there american brand liquors in South Korea? I'm assuming they have Jack Daniel's, but any others? Love the videos, Hope you're having fun in Vietnam.
When you lived in Korea, were you able to visit Seoul? I know that Seoul has a good number of Vietnamese restaurants. Unlike rural Korea, I'm sure you can find a Vietnamese or Chinese grocery store in Seoul or around Seoul that sells pho noodles and nuoc mam.
That bathroom is set up so different from Japanese bathrooms, where the toilet is ALWAYS separated from the shower. Just the visual of the toilet getting wet makes my skin crawl.
+chigasaki06 Yeah, I hate it too but I've learned to get used to it. Almost all Korean homes are this way....the things I've taken for granted growing up in American homes. AH!
my hair dresser is Korean and she suggested I visit Korea...I speak Japanese and wanted to go their go first but I don't know which one to visit..im still checking out the youtube.com videos:)
I'm interested in in seeing what the apartments in Gangwon look like, but I didn't have the patience for a 36 minute video. Could you condense it down to 5 minutes that is actually about your apartment?
19:59 what??? I do not know it or not plagiarism. but in Ukraine too is a manufacturer of dairy products, which uses a picture of a cow earrings... regretfully.........
Wow awesome~~ may I ask you what you bachelors major you graduated with to be an english teacher? Do you plan to stay here for a while and make it as a career?
weMULTIPLYgasp Hey! I graduated with a bachelors in business administration, no prior teaching experience whatsoever but I did have to get a teaching certification to be an English teacher in Korea. It is still a bit too early for me to tell if I will stay or go, but teaching has definitely given me the opportunity to work and travel so I may consider doing it long term. As with all things in life, the possibilities are endless!
Kimmyonaquest Wow awesome me too!! I am also a Buisness Major but i'm afraid if I go teach in english that I will never even use my major and be able able to get a job :( But you really iinspire me!
That was also a concern of mine, but I got a taste of the corporate life before coming here and I don't have any regrets. Working abroad will give you a unique experience that will be beneficial both professionally and personally. I wish you the best of luck!
+Nikki S In Seoul, there are foreign food markets that carry foreign goods from different countries. But there aren't many "American" stores/markets like how we have in the U.S. It's very limited and only in the bigger cities that I know of.
+Kimmyonaquest Thanks for the reply! I didn't think they would have them since South Korea isn't as diverse as America, which is why we have foreign stores and markets. I like your videos, found them last night. Enjoy your travels and stay safe :)
Did you mail the majority of your products to yourself from the USA to your apartment ahead of moving there in the first place or did you bring them on the plane and if so how did you manage to get your bigger products such as the lotion on plane with the harsh regulations on planes from the United States
I checked in the majority of my products with my baggage when I flew. There's only restrictions on liquids if it's in carry-on luggage, I was able to check in my toiletries and other products into the baggage that was checked-in without a problem.
Love this video! I have a question, and it would be awesome if someone could answer it! My school offers a TESOL minor that I am taking, so if I minor in TESOL does that mean that I also have to get my TEFL certification?
+kcanter54 Thanks for watching! It may depend on what your degree is and what country you plan to apply to. South Korea generally requires TEFL certifications for people who do not have a degree in education.
Kimmyonaquest oh okay thank you! I will definitely do that then! If you don't mind me asking, how long did it take you to complete your TEFL certification? I know that it's a 100 hour program, but I assume it wouldn't take as long as 100 hours of college would haha, I just would like to know when I need to buy it!
I did an on site course in Chicago and it took 4 weeks (5 days a week, 8-10 hours per day). It actually feels just like college, but imagine condensed into a short time period. Very very busy, unless you do it on-line at your own pace.
Ohhh I see, I don't have any colleges or coarses available to me to be able to do anything other than online, but I hope it doesn't take too long to complete! Do you think that if after college I signed up for a following semester so I could spend 1 full semester just working on my TEFL coarse? Or would schools look down on me for waiting?
What schools are you asking about specifically? When applying for a teaching position abroad, most places that are looking at applicants just want to know that you will have the TEFL course completed by the time that you begin working for them. And from my experience, a TEFL course wouldn't take up a whole semester's time (only a 4 weeks or more). I hope this answers your question.
I do like the video but i did feel like you went through everything alittle too much. Like i was getting bored when you were going through every single herb and sauce you had :/ but still good video.
+SoulSolaris Yeah I realize this video is very long and detailed. It was one of my first videos and I rambled. Trying to keep it short and sweet in the new videos. Thanks for your feedback.
Wheres the best place to buy produce in Korea that's not so expensive? I love my fruits and veggies, and I prefer to cook my own food~ Where do you usually buy your groceries?
+Clarissa Santiago I usually buy fruits and veggies at the smaller markets in my town ( I live in a rural area). We have a market day here every few days where locals come to sell their produce and it is usually a lot cheaper to buy from them. Otherwise, I purchase my groceries at NongHyup market, I load up whenever I am at a Homeplus, and Emart occasionally has sales to get rid of produce that is about to expire.
+Mary Burnight Unfortunately not. Most apartments provided by EPIK are small and studio size, but some people are lucky if they get a space to entertain.
Do you have to pay for the apartment? Or is that covered by EPIK? Also, would an EPIK teacher be able to move out of the apartment they're accommodated with if they'd like to buy their own?
Housing is provided for by the Metropolitan or Provincial Office of Education for which the teacher is transferred to after being recruited by EPIK. I'm not sure how they handle teachers request for specific housing outside of what they provide, I would suspect that they would give you the housing stipend if such things become an issue but don't quote me.
Fyi, thats only partially true. i believe that is an old habbit from countryside. i think the issue is not the water pressure but the cheap toilet paper sometimes used. i'd say in the cities most people dont use bins. i am a Korean
Kimmyonaquest But on the video you do it a lot. I was just wondering. Now I hope a lot of koreans donot come to America speaking Englishy with vocal fry.
I'll be honest and say that I wasn't even aware of what vocal fry is before your comment so if I did do it..I was completely unaware. I just came to Korea speaking how I normally do.
Kimmyonaquest I am just kidding around. I was not trying to get you mad just joking. Dont worry about it. I bet you are a good teacher and if you are enjoying your life in Korea that is so cool. I am going there in 2 weeks. Have a great day!
I don't know why your voice surprised me. Maybe because I thought that it would be a lot softer and kinda squeaky like some Asian women. I'm not trying to be offensive( I'm sorry , if I am ) but you being American makes sense why you have a stronger voice
+Anri Hendricks so far so good! Gangwon-do is the biggest province by area, and some of the most scenic places in terms of nature. It is quiet and serene out here. I like it for the most part, just wish it didn't take so long to visit other parts of Korea.
Girl. I crave viet food so hard here in Japan. I make my boyfriend take me on base so I can load up on beef bones on base. So if you can make your way to a military base -- you'll be set! Also, Japan doesn't have rice noodles either, so I use udon noodles. It makes it more similar to banh canh but ehhh. Close enough
+Maria Elizabeth Such a generous offer! Chick-Fil-A needs to go global!! The cravings are too much! I'll be pumping that sweet tea through my veins when I get home!
+Kimmyonaquest I didn't think you would reply! I really agree! CFA is so good! i have some friends in Korea and I have sent them pictures of the food and they are dying to try it!
Kimmyonaquest Well, but she was so ecxited about this one bottle of spray deodorant that she had and talked about it like she may not knew it before o.o
Your video is so thorough! Haha, really enjoyed the video. I'm headed to teach English in about 2 weeks. It was great to pick up on the little things on what I can get in Korea and what you brought from home. Thank you!!
you can cook potatoes in the microwave. Put the inside a plastic bag and tie it. Place it in the microwave for about 8-10 minutes
+Rain Bow yo what up fellow ARMY?? I love your icon haha
shinala2 hahah thanks! !!

You went into more details than I expected. Had to skip through then eventually stop watching
Really, that's the best organized and stocked mini-fridge I've ever seen.
Really like the apartment. It's way bigger than I expected and I love the amount of storage that you get. The only thing that bothers me, is not having an oven 😢. But other than that, awesome home and an amazing video xx
"Ahh my drugs!" "So these are my drugs." LOL you made me laugh a little. BTW, I loved this video! I subscribed
Thank you for showing everything you where able to bring from America as far as food goes! answered many of my questions!
The shower curtain thing is such a good idea!
Hi! I'm from Costa Rica :D I just became a fan of your videos! I love them, great job!
+Noilyn Alpizar Thanks for watching Noilyn!
Real cool video. My wife and I plan on living in Korea for a couple of years, don't know when, it's on our bucket list. Great job!
OMG I love the graphic novel on you nightstand. It's so good. haha, I don' know ANYONE else who has read that before.
+Jacqueline Rushing attention to detail! Actually that book isn't mine, but I think I should get into now that you've mentioned it!
Ok I'm 8:36 into the video and all I've seen so far is shoes, sauces and peanut butter. I'm pretty sure I'll see or hear something interesting soon, like details of the apartment, the area, the people, the job, but I'm really starting to wonder :P

This is really helpful to know a few things to not forget bring.

AND CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT ITEMS I AM ALLOWED TO BRING TO KOREA?...THANKS MUCH LOVE FROM THE U.S.:)
Crystal Lyn Johnson Hey! You should be able to bring anything that your heart desires. I would check with your airline for checked baggage restrictions, but the options are limitless...besides contraband and drugs.
You've just basically shown the whole world exactly where you live. Right down to the apartment number. LOL
Grape drannnnkkkk! Look at the fully stocked fridge. ROlling over sometime this week!
Why are there no dryers? I've seen other apartment tours and yours is pretty spacious.i hope the winters aren't too harsh
+kocoa hollis It's just not common for Korean households to have dryers...Idk why, but all my friends also have no dryers so we just hang dry our clothes. Luckily, the floor heat and space heaters are keeping me alive this winter!
Also,I know this is a year later but ... Costco's got tortillas. From CA. It's amazing
Great video! What's the name of those charging blocks you use to charge your phone?
I second Carri below...thanks so much for sharing every aspect of your EPIK life! I'm going to Korea next month to teach with EPIK too! I'm just wondering, did you bring your own knives and pots/pans or was the apt already stocked with some?

+Jennifer Keller thanks for watching Jennifer :)
Love your video! Thanks for being so thorough. Can you make a video about what gifts to bring for the school's principal and co -teacher?
And by the way, do you remember you very first day as a teacher?? I'm superb anxious. I'm moving there in roughly 3 weeks!!!
+mOOnpEEls They say that it's good to bring a gift that is something from where you are from. i just wanted to see the apartment :/ never ended up getting to see it... didn't wanna wait almost 40 mins.
+Lowkey Jane I realized after shooting this that the video is longer than it should be because I spoke about a lot of irrelevant things that aren't useful to some, but may be to others. I'm sorry if you suffered through watching the full video. Thanks for your feedback, I'll keep that in mind for future vids.
Awesome vid, I'm coming to this province for EPIK this month....what happens with the toilet tissue if you can't flush it? the suspense is killing me
Hi Kimmy...yeah but the entire floor gets wet too.
RGEE
Amazing video. What's the background music at the beginning?
You're so detailed! Love it!
Victoria Hoa I try to be! Thank you!
Wow, just saw this and I can’t believe they do not sell Sriracha hot sauce in Korea! Wow 😮
always enjoy those kind of videos. :D

Also, is there american brand liquors in South Korea? I'm assuming they have Jack Daniel's, but any others?

did you take any shots before you came to korea? I mean like travel shots i.e hepatitis..etc

Hi! Are teachers usually placed in the same buildings? Like are your neighbours other EPIK teachers?
Yes, teachers are usually placed in the same building. I had one other EPIK teacher who lived below me in the same building.
I do like the video but i did feel like you went through everything alittle too much. Like i was getting bored when you were going through every single herb and sauce you had :/ but still good video.

Ooo I'm from Atlanta, too!!! Thanks for the video ^^
Is that a Canadian military beret?!
I wish you could do one just showing the apartment. A second one with the other items. Very sad wanted to see your alcohol not the apartment.
I have a question, do you need a specific kind of degree to teach English in Korea?
Did you choose the housing or do they choose for you?? :O
+angel1803 EPIK provides the housing so they chose.
I had no idea you couldnt flush toilet paper in the toilet in S Korea. Now that's valuable information!
+Rainy5062002 yeah..you're not supposed to, because the sewage can't handle it.
Red bag for most waste items. Yellow bag for food waste.
Fyi, thats only partially true. i believe that is an old habbit from countryside. i think the issue is not the water pressure but the cheap toilet paper sometimes used. i'd say in the cities most people dont use bins. i am a Korean
Plz come to Busan. I will invite you my apartment
Do you teach the Koreans vocal fry in your English lessons?
+MaharlikaAWA Lol! I'm pretty sure that she doesn't....that would be super anoyyyyingggg.
+chigasaki06 You're right. I don't!
Have a great day!
that shower curtain is a brilliant idea! I can't stand everything getting wet... haha!!
I don't know why your voice surprised me. Maybe because I thought that it would be a lot softer and kinda squeaky like some Asian women. I'm not trying to be offensive( I'm sorry , if I am ) but you being American makes sense why you have a stronger voice
Hey! How do you find living in this province?
+Anri Hendricks so far so good! Gangwon-do is the biggest province by area, and some of the most scenic places in terms of nature. It is quiet and serene out here. I like it for the most part, just wish it didn't take so long to visit other parts of Korea.
Wait, why don't you put the ketchup and pickles in the fridge?
+bashy usually when you open these things you put in fridge afterwards..but if not used yet its okay to keep out
Girls just wanna have fun... (Song)
Dang you really are in the country. So blessed to be in Seoul lol

I'm really interested in the korean skin care if you could message me :)! I wanna look at products!
Sooo... Is there not American liquor there?
Is it hard to eat vegan I Korea I am vegan and I don't want to really give up veganism
no it is not hard to find things to eat if you are vegan. You should look up "Vegan food in Korea" on youtube.
+Ashley Clous ok, thanks! :)
Why I'd there an ad, just to watch the video? Thumbs down.
Are you from Philippines?
Oh man, your gorgeous kimmy. Im envious of your husband/bf.
😍Your a Beautiful lady.
What exactly is EPIK?
Warrior Victoria It's a teaching English program sponsored by the Korean government.
Do you really imagine that anyone wants to hear about your shoes?
what prevents others from going into your apartment ? :o O.O
I think she has a code pad she had to put in a combination to get in. I think that button was when she would leave the apartment and it unlocks.
Chick-Fil-A polynesean sauce hahaha i work at a CFA in Texas, i'll send you a whole box of it if you want! hahaha

You don't have spray deodorant in the US? o.O
+xMaariie The spray deodorant in the video is all from the US.
Kimmyonaquest Well, but she was so ecxited about this one bottle of spray deodorant that she had and talked about it like she may not knew it before o.o
The struggle is real w/ the deodorant!! I lived in Japan for two years, and they didn't have anything really...I guess they just don't sweat! Hahah!
You brought nail polishes to the makeup capital of the world??? :D
+Helena York Yes, because they do not sell OPI nail polish in South Korea.
Omfg, you're literally ME. 😭
Too bad Chick Fil A got rid of their good sauces and replaced them with nasty ones. 🙁
The beaver lol.
