I've got an 86 350x, all original (other than tires), in show room quality. I love the appreciation people have for these machines
What's really good about this restoration is you kept it the same, hard to beat having the same look and up like new in my eyes, absolutely beautiful bike, nearly to good to get dirty.
86 had flat slide carb not round slide.
1985 it had polished aluminum handle bar goose clamps. In 1986 they were black!
Noticed that too, there’s a lot of mismatched parts and colors from 85&86 on this build, and to top it off the wheels weren’t re-anodized. Looks amazing but kinda hard to call it a “factory resto”

85 triple tree, 86 was black
Looks good but the front brake hose isn't original, it's missing the brake hose guide, and the sprocket cover was never red. It should be the same color as the engine.
Correct! We would like to find a nice original brake hose. Hard to find. And yes sprocket cover should be same color as the engine. Seems like you know your ATCs. Thank you for the comment! We will also look for the brake hose guide. Should be same as 85
@@MrScaredshiftless I have a complete clean 86 atc250 only thing missing is plastics and seat everything else is there all origanal and clean I'm using as a future donor for another 86 im building if you need anything inperticular let me know
Isnt the triple tree(or whatever thats called) black on the 86?
Damn thats brand new from the factory, even got the tool box, i never saw one of those. What was the total cost to build that like that? Thats gotta be 5 figures easy.
Sweet beautiful bike! Is the tank new or was it painted? If painted could u tell me what paint and process was done? I have an 85 with the tank faded and I’m also doing a full restore! Thanks for the cool video
The tank was clear coated. Process was to sand out most of the defects in the plastic using 220 w/d sand paper. Then prepare the complete tank sanding back to 400 w/d. Before the clear coat was applied, Bull Dog adhesive agent was applied to insure the clear coat would adhere properly. Also, Flex agent was added to the clear. Color sand and buff. Nice work but a few things wrong. The top of the triple clamps should be black for 1986, the headlight bezel should have a embossed warning label on the top towards the back of the plastic. And then two warning labels decals towards the top frontof the headlight plastic. Also the rear plastic looks to be maier plastic and not oem. A rear set of plastic does not have that rectangular warning decal on the left side of the rear fenders. Maier plastic comes with that decal installed on it. Lastly the shroud decals are wrong as well. 1985 atc 250r looked like that. The 1986's shroud decals says "250R" under the Honda wing. Hopefully this helps.
Those are original plastics. Maiers dont have the molded warning label
Is the plastic replaced or did you restore it?..if you did restore it how? Its beautifully done
All the plastic is original. We sand the plastic till we get all the flaws out of it. Then clear coat using a UV to protect it from the elements. The frame is powder coated. Thank You

A place called plastics renovation cuts and bluffs them out after sanding them. They can repair almost anything that is damaged cracked or missing.

Very nice job however the carburetor is not an OEM Honda unit the Honda unit has the fuel line entering the carb horizontally not vertically Honda had them produce their carbs this way so the fuel line would come straight down and into the carb. That one comes down and up and down again like an s so it’s possible to hold air. Just thought I would let you know cause I’m sure you would like it all OEM
