Victor is such a heartbreaking villain. BUT it also showcases that bruce, more often than not, is willing to extend an opened hand as a posed to a closed fist.
Mr Freeze could absolutely fit in with the current gritty "realistic" aesthetic - he's a dude in a cryo suit. And so many other antagonists of his that we haven't seen in live action film aren't really supernatural either, like Zsasz, Mad Hatter, Ventriloquist/Scarface, Hugo Strange... But considering that - hopefully even with the new WB owners - DC films are allowed to stand apart, it would be cool to see a Bat-Mite or a Poison Ivy in a more fantastical Batman film.
Yeah I hope Matt Reeves actually goes through with using Mr Freeze in the sequel. It would be a refreshing change of pace. When Gotham flooded i was like “wouldn’t it be a shame if all that just…froze over in the winter” 😂
I agree with you and I’m glad you showed BTAS and the Arkham games, as I feel they best blended the fantastical and the grounded outside of the comic medium. However, I feel that for now, it was/is so important to keep the films grounded in the gritty realism of the Dark Knight trilogy, Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker, and The Batman. With political and social tensions as high as they are within our real world, it is stunning how Batman’s universe translates so well as a metaphorical mirror. Sci-Fi can do that just as well, but unfortunately I do fear that the average viewer wouldn’t grasp the meaning and apply it as well as they could or should. Like you said, maybe there will come a day when it all can be done. Thanos and his space age powers made an enormous impact, then why can’t the potential for a metaphorically drug addicted Clayface be accepted?
Like anime, Primeval, and Doctor Who have very absurd plots. But the way it's written and how the characters act make you take it seriously. Whether they're acknowledging the absurdity of the situation. Or having the antagonists be an actual threat.
Exactly, but for us that’s fine when these studios want to pitch things to the “general audience” they feel like they have to pull back on stuff. As if a compelling story can’t be told if batman is fighting Clayface. I’ve always found it a ridiculous notion.

Very true, a lot of this gets lost on the big wig execs at WB, they only see a freeze gun.

Yesssssss! Totally agree.
The people deserve a film with Condiment King as the main villain
