Installing Expansion Kits and User Sets on the Roland FR-1x

In this video I am demonstrating how to load the expansion kits that we downloaded in the Downloading Expansion Sets video into the Roland FR-1x. Also, how to install the User Sets that come with the Expansion Sets.
In a future video I will show you how to create your own User Sets.

Thanks for the question/comment. The extensions are: .bi3 for the expansion sets, .st3 for the user sets and .up1 for the user programs. I hope this helps.

Oh Joe I really feel lost! When I put the 1x back to reset from the factory, in the user set they list U1 ALPINE, U2 CAJUN, U3 TEX MEX, AND U4 SCOTTISH. is this the same place that the expansion sets will be loaded into? Does the expansion overwrite whats there, I am confused!!

Now that you have it set back to factory settings, you will have to load the expansion sets back. You can then set up your user sets to whatever you would like. Use your sets are different than expansion sets.

Hi Sandy, Since you purchased your accordions from Dale you will not need to worry about these. Dale has loaded those for you and used them to create his sounds. When you purchase your Roland Accordion from Roland or someone other than Dale, the accordion only comes with the standard sound sets. An expansion kit gives your accordion to have other sounds added. In the FR-1x, there are 3 possible expansion kits that you may download and install. The problem is that the FR-1x only has room in its memory for 2, so you have to decide which two you want. In your case, do not install anything - Dale has you covered with his sounds. He has done all the work for you!
