You can tend to get big lots of parts on eBay, or if you're lucky, you may live in an area where there's a second-hand Lego store that has a Bionicle pick and mix.

God, back in the day i would search for a Samus Bionicle MOC and couldnt find anything, but this one at 24:38 nailed it, just nailed it. That Phazon Suit and the retro one are just amazing and i love it.

I remember having some system sets that had similar looking lit-up tubes. Pretty sure it was Exo-Force, with little translucent battery-powered light bricks, the clear tube connects to it, and I guess the internal refraction is such that the whole tube lights up.
They were all red though, so perhaps the creator used something else. 🤷♀️
There are instructions for g2 makuta. It’s like $300 worth of parts tho. It takes 6 different g2 kits to make him.
I agree! It was so cool to see these MOCs in person. Especially cool to see my favorites from Flickr and Instagram posts over the years. And this was JUST the Bionicle/CCBS stuff, there was so much more to see and people to meet!

If you want to follow real anatomy, do some anatomy studies, like studying figure
If you just want funny bionicle the body types are usually same as the males
