I think we can ALL agree that Creed was the best branch manager
he was the only one they trusted to find the differences in the pictures ;D
Boboddy
Francesco I like it “biznez’’
Boboddy would agree with this.
100%
The Office died along with Michael's heart, when the chair model died.
1992 Daihatsu Charade this is such an underrated comment smh
Bye bye miss chair model lady... I dreamed that we were married and you treated me nice...
Definitely
We had lots of kids.................drinking whisky and rye
@@joification2 but why'd you have to go off and die?
The show died when creed got demoted from manager
Creed is the best manager ever!
biznez i likeeee it!
Creed being manager was the only thing that would saved the office .
But thats the problem with having your actors as producers, they want more screen time and want to be the main character, and thats exactly what happened with their main producer being john Krasinski he wanted his character to be main even tho no one could take that spot from Steve carrel.
Bobbody
@@ObitoUchiha-ck6kx I mean I could argue that Jim and Pam are equally as important as Michael . Andy got a bigger screen present. I don’t think anybody would complain about more Jim and pam
”Goodbye, Michael” is where The Office should have ended. Nothing more
The Comedian I disagree, but I see your point because I’m looking at it through the eyes of nostalgia
I disagree also the show slipped after Michael left but I don’t think it should have ended
I guess so, but I think they should’ve had Dwight’s wedding still
guys he joking
i think they should have made "goodbye Michael" the finale and maybe do a season 8 when they would show what happened to the characters later
For me the day the Office died was the exact moment Brian the boom guy became a character.
100%
Jimmy Lutton yeah
i agree... and its was awkward for me. also i hated how it seemed like he was trying to get close to pam/loved her. like stopppppp
He seemed obsessed with her. It was creepy...
@Nick Lawson Seriously
Andy went from one of the best characters to the worst character in the span of the last two seasons
Having Andy as a main character is what actually killed this show. Ed Helms is a legendary hack.
he went from being annoying to being amazing and then back to annoying
@@roo177 true
I liked his character development and becoming more of a leader, but when he got back from the boat, he became really really dislikable. I did like Robert California tho.
Kingredrex AGREED
Michael was the glue that held everything together. Once he left, we all know what happened. What baffles me is the fact that they hardly mentioned him in last two seasons as if he wasn't an integral part of the show.
Agreed!
incredibly different show, but I always loved how on downtown abbey they sometimes recived letters or talked about characters that were no longer in the show...really solidified its world! So yea agreed ahah
Yeah
For example in the cold open of that baloon that was hanging in the warehouse for a long time
Everybody mentioned something about the past
They could have mentioned something about "That baloon is up there even before Michael become manager" something like that
Well, Michael is both kinds of glues. The first is wet glue. That doesn't hold anything together, the same as Michael at first. But the dried glue. This is when Michael comes away with a win.
Even when he came back on Dwight's wedding day, I didn't think they put enough spotlight on him. It was a very subtle appearance. I hated that, I wanted more.
I know this is like 2 years late, but I think the day the office died was when Nellie just took manger from Andy. The show was slowly dying but that just plummeted from there. She is the worst.
definetely agree, i would almost say it died when they went to florida because that was just no fun
@@cornelia5132 true- they tried too hard to make it seem fun but tbh, it just wasn’t fun at all
I hate Nellie so much
Yeah that season was so frustrating
I know it’s hard to Watch
They really ruined Andy’s character. Everyone hated him at 1st but slowly became a fan favorite
Him Dwight and Jim and Pam could’ve carried the last 2 seasons but they killed Andy and made Jim and Pam awkward
How were Jim and Pam awkward
They weren't awkward, they just got boring after the baby
Jim and Pam weren’t awkward, they started having marital problems. That’s a very different thing, because while both can be uncomfortable to watch, you can get a lot of story out of marital problems. Which they did.
@@mikerivera373 agreed. Some ppl just cant handle serious parts to a story of the show for some reason
Maybe you should be more respectful
My favorite thing about the show was Jim and Dwight. They had a such a good dynamic that lasted until the last episode. I never got tired of them going back and forth and Jim pranking Dwight.
Agreed, but after every ep i just wished i heard something like threath level midnite.
Idk man micheal scott is possibly the best character on there if you rlly think about it
I agree for the most part, I think the parts when Dwight was trying to get Jim fired seemed like too much, nobody does that unless they truly truly hate you, also the snowball fight, it just seemed to take it too far, at least the part he made Jim bleed, but maybe most wont agree
My favorite thing was the relation between Dwight and Pam. Even though Pam married Jim ,Dwight still treated her as a friend and their relationship just warms my hurt
def have rto agree there. the show for me never died because they carried that right until them finbally becoming true friends in the last episodes. had me hooked.
ABandG I love the snow ball episode. I was literally cheering when dwight got his revenge.
When Michael left, it died. It’s just that simple. Michael brought everyone’s character together.
He was the total glue of the show the one who keeps everyone together as a family without is just different people fighting for their own things
No this guy is right. When Jim and Pam married it lost a huge plot point which was their tension. It’s why Will They Won’t They is always an ongoing thing in so many shows... the show scrambled after that to fill that void
Every time i binge the show, I end it at Goodbye Michael. Thats my finale
@@PascalSiakam13 you know there’s a secret episode you’re missing out on tbh

The worse thing about The Office: you can only watch it for the first time once.
Ciel1820 Nah. You see the easiest way to be able to rewatch is to become a mailman, carry an important package, be shot in the head but a dude in a fancy suit, and adventure in Nevada.
Incorrect, you could easily get hit by a bus a suffer traumatic brain damage, go into a coma, and forget everything from your past. It’s as simple as that!
Ciel1820 right!? Like when toby goes back, that first time is just sjsjjsjdjdjdj
Ciel1820 very true.
Armyequalswar 1944 did you just give a mild summary of fallout new vegas
Once Dunder Mifflin was bought out by Sabre, that's when the show started dying.
Eh
Part of it
i’m in season 8 and this sabre doesn’t make sense. They said when Dunder Mifflin Scranton was the only one that was bought but then out of nowhere exists some others Dunder Mifflin (the last 2 episodes from s8 show us that)
I mean it didn't really change a ton about the show so I don't see it. I'd call season 7 one of my favorites as well so I definitely disagree.
The power of the Pyramid
To me, the show just declined when they just decided to start throwing in random characters all the time. No, I'm not talking about Erin (if anything she was a highlight of the last few seasons). I'm talking about Gabe, Pete, Clark, Nellie, all these Sabre throw-ins that just made it feel like... not the Office? However, the show was amazing throughout the entire thing honestly and while I hated these characters, I still think the show managed to be full of humor and heart in Seasons Eight and Nine.
I love erin but they did my girl dirty by having her be in 20 love triangles
but I love Nellie..Ive grown to like her..shes awkward and funny
YESS i love erin but everyone else that they threw in was just not it for me. or well i had no problem with val she was just uninteresting
@@jackbyrley6441 They drew out her and Andy's love triangle for like three seasons and then went and ruined it in the last one.

Michael: leaves
Dwight and Jim: carry show
Michael: comes back
Me: cries
Dwight: "Michael, you came"
Michael: "That's what she said"
Best line ever
Yeah glad to know I wasn't the only one to cry when Michael came back during the finale
Carry”
At the dwight and angy wedding i cried too but the person who came back wasn’t Michael scott he was carrell…
Dwight can single handedly carry the show who else is with me
Trenton Smiley Ehhh, no. He does a lot of heavy lifting comedy wise but he’s not a lead. Even as amazing as My dude Rainn Wilson is if he tried to add too much depth to the character I think it would ruin his charm.
100% mr smiley
Eadlyn June I think he's just saying that his favorite character was Dwight
Ninjdraw Well saying he could single handedly carry the show implies more but I guess that could be it too.
Eadlyn June yea. Idk if he was exagerating or not. If he wasnt then in thqt case he's definitely wrong
I think the show died when Andy went on his 3 mouth break. He just quickly went from a dollar store Michael to an insensitive asshole. He basically forgot about Erin, took credit for the branch success in his absence, and gave up on his job.
Im just real glad they were able to fix his character in the last few episodes and make him likable again
Who agrees with me
i agree 100%. even though he was a funny character, hes not remotely close to michael. the fact that the writers made him more despicable in season 9 doesn't make any sense at all and ruins his character.
I agree with you accept the last part. At the last couple of episodes, I didn’t real-time care for him, since he just wasn’t like able to me anymore.
I agree
I agree
i don't agree. the main focus of the show is the romance between Jim and Pam. Andy and Erin are just side characters, and Erin is an especially bad character. Their story is at worst a rip off of Jim and Pam and at best, it's filler. It's just incredibly boring to watch and didn't make me feel emotional at all, like Jim and Pam's story.
The Office indeed died on Niagara, like he said in the video. With Jim and Pam now married, the purpose of the show has been fulfilled and the writers struggled to keep the show going.
I'd rather enjoying Ryan's character roller coaster development all over again than watching the last 2 seasons. Watching him from a temp to be the manager of the company and then become a bowling alley's employee only to be a temp again is hillarious.
Agree that "Niagara" is the natural endpoint of the show. After Jim got the girl, the writers had no idea what to do with him.
Dave Palmer false. seeing the trials of married life was incredibly real and powerful
It was kinda comforting with it being the status quo but what they did in season 9 with marraige struggles was great and very realistic imo.
Dan Palmer I don’t agree actually, I’d still say goodbye Michael is the end. Putting the two leads together was a risky move but they pulled it off and kept things interesting imo, the series still thrived and fans got to see married and finally happy Jim and Pam, then once Michael left that’s where it ended
@@taragold6457 you wanted to see jim and pam not all the fans because it would have still be airing otherwise.
They should have worked with Steve to keep him on the show. Everything I have watched and read says it was not his choice to leave.
I like how you skipped over Will Ferrell, just like everyone else does when rewatching the office.
Yep. I mean he was in it for all of 4 episodes.
Entertain The Elk that should speak volume of how terrible it was
Ever since I saw Will attending that weird art, cake eating thing, hosted by that satanist lady, I see him in a weird light. If you don't know what i'm talking about...there's this weird older lady, who's a performance artist and self proclaimed satan worshipper who throws these weird parties. There was one that had a cake in the shape of a naked woman and all these celebs were there, dressed in lab coats slicing up this cake with other actors under the tables with their heads sticking out, like a weird horror movie. It was creepy as hell and Will was there acting all weird. It was something like..spirit cake or spirit cooking, I saw it on here. But anyway..after that, Will just seems a weird dude who attends some really weird parties lol
Robby Woehrle me too. Well done.
Yes!! I also skip over most of Andy lol
They never should’ve made Andy such a prominent character. He was only funny in small doses. The Andy/Erin romance was useless.
And the thing is, it would have been less useless if they had actually ended up together. But no.
I disagree
I wish they stayed together.
I found it pretty refreshing to see a main-ish character choose a sensible "nice" guy over the emotionally neglectful wildcard
I agree wholeheartedly.
I couldn't keep watching the show after Kevin spilled his chili. That was just too evil of the writers to add in.
That scene made Kevin. Its his most famous scene. Because of that scene, the actor now maked a million a year on cameo.

@@actress_haircut I think the little time on screen wasn't their choice. I guess they wanted Steve Carell for the whole episode, but maybe it wasn't possible, I just I cried in the last episode.
Although Michael coming back was emotional, it was too predictable for me. Like when Jim says that the best man had to be older, it was obvious that Michael was gonna be standing there.

When the office got terrible for me:
1. Michael leaving

Agree with everything except Robert California. His conspicuous articulation and creepiness was a unique trait that the show needed.
I actually really liked Robert California, it kinda made up for the suckiness of season 8 and 9.
The office wasn't complete until Micheal and Holly got engaged. They should've ended it there.
But what about Dwight and Angela then? I was so glad when they finally married at the Finale and it was discovered that Philip was Dwight's son.
Kaley yeah, and I would’ve liked to see more of Micheal’s kids and holly at the end, that would’ve really made the ending hit harder
@@juliankrieger7881 same here I too wanted Michael and holly together after marriage in Scranton at the office....
@@juliankrieger7881 they could have also showed their marriage....
The ending should have been Holly and Michael’s wedding instead of Angela and Dwights. They could have made it where Dwight and Angela where just happily dating. Personally, Michael was the best character and would do anything to see more of his life with his family.
This thank you! Nobody has written do far how much of a failed move was the fact that they didn't show the wedding of Holly and Micheal. They didn't even mention it whatsoever. It is impossible that he didn't invite all his subordinates at his wedding.

2. Nellie
3. The randomly, out of nowhere, horrible writing of Andy's character
And the ending of toby
SAME.
The office never died for me
Ofcourse episodes weren’t always the greatest but still it was awesome all the way
Exactly
Yes
Ur Right i would still rewatch it
I really started to dislike the Office after the return of Andy to his job after losing it to Nellie. His refusal to play along with Robert's game (him saying no) is a great moment for his character because he finally learns to assert himself and no longer work to please others. All of a sudden when Wallace reinstates him he becomes a huge dick, completely horrible and disrespectful to everyone around him. It's one of the worst turns I've ever seen in a comedy show. Nellie, the most unlikable character in the show, suddenly becomes someone we're supposed to root for against Andy, and the introduction of Pete and Clark is uncomfortable and awkward as well.
That being said, I did enjoy the tension between Pam and Jim in the ninth season because it shows that their marriage isn't a fairy tale and it tries to be realistic and they pulled off the finale quite well in my opinion.
Yes, exactly! I'm glad someone brought up Pete and Clark-possibly two of the most unnecessary characters added to a show in the history of sitcoms. They were really trying to push a Pam/Jim arch onto Erin and Pete and it didn't have the same energy. Smh... And I also enjoyed watching Pam and Jim work through their issues.
Yeah I REALLY loved it when Clark got real rapey with Erin, what a great scene
Graybat12 season 9 did him dirty
I agree with every word you said. I think the writers were totally disrespectful to the audience when they destroyed andy in just one episode. And the way they forced erin and pete to be pam and jim in such a short period of time just made me cringe.
Very accurate opinion. Totally agree with you. Those decisions in latest seasons brought a lot of inconvenience and I see those as writers struggle to inject more life into The Office.
Show never died and will never die.
Diego Oliveira not saying show lost relevancy, saying when it got shitty which (in my opinion) was when michael left. And its my favorite comedy show and even those seasons were better than a lot of current shows, but severely took a hit.

ur mom lol yeah I agree with that. Todd packer just kinda made me uncomfortable
i find it funny how just before michael left, he walked up to each employee and said "dont become a caricature" and by the time the 8th season wrapped up, every. single. person. was a caricature of their former selves, like steve knew the writers would eventually give up and just make the characters do zaney things trying to keep the show alive (kevin went from mildly unintelligent and childlike to an outright buffoon)
He said that to Kevin, not every employee
Nah. Remember when everyone found out Kevin was actually a mathematical genius? I think his character was pretty layered.
Lindsey Shrodek pretty much his only two character traits were that he was fat/liked food and that he was stupid. It wasn't layered, they just combined the two things.
YGuy1 I’ve watched the office 6 times through (because I have no life) and idk I just love Kevin’s character because he’s a sub character but tiny details are revealed about him slowly. Like the fact that he likes to cook, his various girlfriends, and his awkwardness. Yeah he’s really stupid and likes food but he’s also sensitive and clumsy and sometimes a genius. It’s okay if you don’t think that, but I thoroughly enjoyed Kevin’s character.
I agree, 8 and the first 2/3 of 9 sucked, but they had a lot of crowning achievements in giving some spotlight to the more hidden away characters. Kevin for example, I found extremely funny in the later seasons. Darryl gets to debut his hilarity upon joining the upstairs staff. Nelly, while unfavorable at first, really grew on me in S9. Like my favorite scene from those is Kevin trying to save time by speaking like a caveman. These are just my views of course, but I don’t see S8 and S9 as complete busts. They’re dropoffs from what the show was for sure but they do have their merits.
I literally watch the office everyday and when its over, I start back up. Been doing it since 2012

season 9 was mediocre until they realized that the documentary was premiering in may
I personally think only the 8th season was kind of worse, but they managed to end it just right to make it satisfying and without a bad taste in my opinion.
Season 8-9 feels different like when someone you know so well changes but you don’t know until after you stop talking to them
Should have gotten a Michael Scott wedding as the finale instead. Or at least let us see his children in the finale that we got. Would have been satisfied seeing his dream come true that we heard about in season 2. I never rooted for Angela and the only payoff was the grave wedding that was mentioned in season 3. Michael’s role was too small. I know why they didn’t have him be a big presence, but it still would have been nice to see a tiny bit more of him. Maybe a bit of him and Ryan, or him throwing a piece of cake at Toby, or something.
I agree, in the finale, I was unsatisfied because I felt we didn’t really get to catch up on Michael too much. And I really wanted to see him inside of the office one last time and see him with his children too maybe.
Michael had 3 vasectomies how could he possibly get kids.

I actually liked Robert California. He was weird and creepy and he didn’t fit and that’s why I DID like him
I *hated* the character when the series was airing, but I've grown to enjoy the weird creepiness. Plus the Ultron California mashup helped lol
Lizard King
I liked Robert California,he had a smooth way of talking that was creepy but funny
I feel like you don't know food at all!
I want to say I like Robert California...but, honestly I think it's just that I love James Spader and would enjoy listening to him speak in literally anything...
I think it went down when Andy left on the boat
It certainly ruined his character, and considering he went all the way to Florida to get Erin it doesn’t make much sense he would leave her for a boat ride
I actually really enjoyed the arc involving James Spader. It was strange, but it felt like an interesting direction, like they weren't just trying to create Michael 2.0 or something. To me, the show fell apart as soon as they had to work towards writing Andy out of the show, his character had a great trajectory up until the last season, and it was just a mess. They turned him into a completely insufferable asshole, and the show was just a crash and burn after that for me.
Film Radar I liked Robert too, and that pissed me off with Andy also. They built him up so much, and finally by the last season they just dropped him.
Yeah, I think Robert California could've been interesting, but the creators clearly didn't know how to utilize him. He just didn't fit the tone of that world. Spader's talents were definitely wasted. But I agree, it was better than just doing Michael Scott 2.0 like they basically did with Andy. Bleh.
Yeah it completely fell apart in the last season for me where there destroyed all of Andy’s character development to turn him back into the one-note “incredibly annoying co-worker” joke character that he started as.
When California did his interview, it was perfect... I feel like it would have been much better to leave him that way... You could have had him a little more engaged than he was and still done something good with it... I think it would have worked well the way Idris Elba played his role on the show..
Film Radar agreed I like spaderscharacter alot
I honestly think the Office was still pretty good in the final seasons. It definitely was not like it was in its prime, but still enjoyable to watch.
Gorilla Man I like your name
when im gonna rewatch this im just gonna go from season 1-7 and then the last 2 episodes of season 9.
The fact that Robert didn’t fit was the exact reason why he was hilarious. People were too used to Michael and obviously expected Robert to be the same.
However the final season *ruined* Andy and added two new characters that did nothing to push the story forward.
Holly's arc in season 5 was WAAAAAYYY too short. She should have been on the show the whole season so we could really get invested in their relationship. Micheal had struck out with so many bad relationships leading up to Holly, it was awesome to see him finally click with someone who was "a big dork" like him. And the few episodes they were together were sooo sweet. She should have been there the whole season and like Elk said, if the show should have ended with Niagra, then Micheal and Holly would be together as well and we would really, really care about them and we would do backflips. Just a thought tho :/
sid srivastava agreed. Altho I do feel the way the show deals with Holly away from screen after with Michael and a few random appearances they continue to create an investment. I like it, suits Michaels character to go crazy over someone he’s dated for 2 weeks. 🤣
How about that arc when she was doing yoga 🤤😍
Personally think the show died when Steve carrel left the office he was the funniest leading character in a show I’ve ever seen and there’s no manager that can replace him whatsoever
Dennis Hockenberry totally agree !!
👍👍👍
Yep
Dennis Hockenberry it’s kinda funny how no manage can replace michael at dunder mifflin, and nobody can fill the void of steve carell in the office cast
Not even Will Ferrel
The last 2 seasons were painful to watch. (Except for the last episode)
I think the last two episodes are great and everyones last dance with Darryl just gets me every time
“If I don’t go scuba diving , what was the point? What have I been working towards?”
Is no one going go mention Will Ferrell? Holy crap his character was horrible. It's like he was trying to hard, or not trying hard enough...
#HeyHeyTheyreLithium
i always skip the episodes with him when i rewatch, he just sucks
You're gonna make me say it!! 😂😂😂😂
I never thought he was supposed to be a likeable character.
Robert Garcia the only funny part with him is when he comes back from the hospital and slurs the joke he was going to tell 😭😭😭
Will Ferrel has not been funny in years.
I disagree that the office wasn’t good without Steve. It died when they killed Andy’s character
yeah, andy's downfall really made his scenes super annoying and the show wasn't as great
@@marina-ee and how the did it just so they can force plop down our throat, and lazy rehash of michael for sake of cheap laughs in s9 (tantrums, treatment of toby and nellie, selfishness/center of attention), way to make Dwight the manager, lazy way to make an excuse of Ed Helms leaving to film the Hangover.
I absolutely love the office, but one of the main reasons is because it's so real. On the eralier seasons no one was really happy, they got bored at work, didn't stand eachother and it just had a very akward energy. But then it started to become like every other show and lost that essence
michael was that one person who everyone finds annoying but when he left everything fell apart
I don't think it ever died, it had it low points but the show continued to deliver till the end, even if some episode aren´t great. Till season 7 its fantastic, after that a little wonky.
Yeah I would agree with that for the most part. It had some redeeming episodes through the end, but it just wasn't the same as the classic seasons.
Season 8 was pretty bad. I struggled for almost 2 months trying to just grit my teeth and make it through those episodes. I’m glad they kind of revived themselves a bit for the second half of season 9
Falqonone finale and some(again, some) of season 8 were fantastic tho
Threat level midnight was amazing
The best movie
you jump to the right and you shake that hand! you jump to the left and you shake that hand! make new friends, tie some yarn, that’s how you do the scarn!
Yeah, i love how its just basically a projection of Michael's madness onto a screen
you jump to the left and you shake this hand, you jump to the right and you shake that hand, make new friends, tie that yarn, thats how you do the scarn!
It was😂 clean up on aisle 5
The office will never die because legends never die
The Wasted Worm Nice Overwatch reference
But don't legends have to die to fully become legends?
The office is trash
Michael was the foundation, walls, and ceiling of The Office.
I can't believe we almost had a Dwight spin off and it WAS PASSED ON WTF
I don't even know what that means.
@@abdullahyahya2471 Dwight's own show
Abdullah Yahya I think that show would have lasted as long as Planet Sheen
I love Dwight, but i have no desire to watch a show centered around his beet farm.
Bears
I didn't like season 8, barely even watched season 9, but the actual last two episodes of The Office were fantastic and made it worth it. The development of Dwight and Jim, as well as Dwight and Pam's friendships were the highlights of the last two seasons. Robert California was one of the worst characters I'd ever seen, and by season 9 so was Andy unfortunately. I wish the series finale had happened at the end of season 7 though - pretty much the same episode with the one year jump, the wedding, Dwight as manger, etc. just without having to sit through season 8 and 9 haha
Dakota Melvin The final episodes made me feel lonely and had a sense or urgency and incompleteness and a dark morbid undertone in them
Dakota Melvin Robert California was not bad Deangelo was terrible
I can't sit beyond the episode where new Jim and new Dwight get introduced. The quality drops like crazy
Robert California and Nellie REALLY killed the show for me...
am i the only one that liked season 8 and 9?
100% when Steve left.
Runner up: Any episode in which Ed Helms sings.
Zero exaggeration, Robert California was one of my favourite characters on the show lol. Loved the tone shift and he was the perfect counterbalance to the rest of the cast. So many hilarious lines came from that character, and man could James Spader deliver a one-liner. “I am the f**king Lizard King”
*Im the f*cking lizard King.*
Spader is one of my favorite actors and I didn't dislike or blame the character for the shows decline because it was past its peak before Michael left.
I loved him too and I think the last 2 seasons had more funny moments than the later Michael seasons
@@katelavery6381 agreed. The show took a noticeable downturn in the third quarter of the series. It actually bounced back the last 2 seasons
Umm I disagree. Pam and Jim weren’t the only good things about The Office; maybe they were to you, but not to most other fans. The Office faltered when Micheal left, but even after that most fans still stuck around and ended up enjoying it. The Office was overall a great show to the very end (even AFTER Pam and Jim got married) due to the comedy and the interesting, lovable characters. And The Office is still very alive today, even after years of its completion.
it's still alive through it's youtube channel. i dont know who's running it but it posts high quality, official compilations that are honestly amaznig
I disagree. The show lost a lot of momentum and spirit after Michael left. Most things after that feels clumsy and soulless; primarily existing to keep the show going. Now, there are still some fun things, interesting additions, and Jim and Dwight (at the very least) still make the show a bit entertaining. At least, *that's how it felt to me. But, clearly, your opinion is correct.*
Spoken like a true A.A.R.M.
viewers like are the ones responsible for tv shows stretching past their death on American TV. A show must not go on all the time.
Sydney Petersen honestly for a long time Pam and Jim were my least favorite part of the show. Mostly because of Pam, she was so unlikeable. Until she started to grow a bit as a character I liked her more. They were cute but never my favorite part.
Top 3 mistakes The Office made:
1. Dunder Mifflin bought out by Sabre
2. Pam moving to sales
3. Not giving Michael more screen time in the finale.
Yes, Steve Carrell leaving was the worst, but that was Carrell’s choice, I doubt the show itself wanted the character of Michael Scott to leave.
Another thing, we all know Jim and Pam were made for eachother, but as was touched on in this episode, they got pretty boring after their wedding, and in my opinion, the romance lost some magic when Pam moved next to Jim and joined the sales team. Although I believe that The Office finale is one of the most satisfying and best finales I have seen, a Jim and Pam wedding as a finale might’ve been overall better for the show. They could wait until Jim and Pam got together, maybe they could start dating around the final seasons.
COMPLETELY AGREE
Steve did not leave because he wanted to, he left because he was initially his contract was for 6 seasons. I am pretty sure everyone cried when he had to leave as there are videos about it
Yep true
and #4: Nellie
True, because what was interesting about Jim and Pam was that their chemistry was like a “will they won’t they” type relationship that had its ups and downs with Roy and Karen, and after the wedding I had nothing to worry about. They later tried to supplement it with Erin and Andy, but Andy was just an annoying and just lame character to watch on screen.
The show has gotten worse when Michael was replaced by Andy in my opinion. If I were one of the writers I would’ve had David Wallace become the manager or create a new character that is as lovable as Michael Scott, but don’t have him be a rip-off Michael.
The British version didn't have Tim and Dawn get together until the last episode (Christmas special) for a reason.
Nobody:
Last few seasons Andy: how baaaad can I be
Diversity day will always be my favorite episode..That "diversity exercise" was so ackward and hilarious.
Bonnie Howell
Yes! The awkward episodes were the best.
Awkward*
with Dwight being the "Asian" guy!
yes those 1-6 season episodes were awesome. the show definitely lost a lot of ideas and became bland after season 7 and after michael left
Keliiii! Try my cookie my cookie 🤣
I think we were spoiled. The office without Michael was still great but it was a fall from legendary. When I rewatch it I still go from start to finish. No skipping. That's right, I even watch Scott's tots and love every single cringe moment of it.
I can't believe some people skip episodes honestly, both the office and parks and rec I have seen every episode far far too many times.
P.s. I feel the first 3 episodes had some of the most cringe, even more than Scott's tots.
Scott's tots graduation rate was far higher than the rest of the school so I don't think it was completely bad
People who skip Scott's tots are cunts
the only michael moment in the show i can’t watch is when he says he wants to have 100 kids so they can all be his friends like how has nobody ever said that wasn’t cringey
C.J. Karathomas it’s cringe but not that cringe bro
i feel like the ideal ending could’ve been michael moving on, jim and pam’s wedding, dwight being regional branch manager all in one episode
I liked Robert California. He was so dry and self-sure in a way that didn’t gel with the other characters that I found it hilarious
i hated him he was annoying af
I really liked “Mafia” and if you didn’t then send it back
I'll have the gabagool. F'n classic!
I did too! I watched it recently and I really liked it!
gaba' gool
Imagine if they'd gotten James Gandolfini to guest star as Grotti
For me, it was dying after Michael left, but died outright when they brought in the boom guy drama.
Lucifronz Yeah. I agree.
+Carlos Cerda You mean it added a reason to dislike her that was unnecessary and shallow. Not to mention a weak reason to dislike Jim by making him uncharacteristically an asshole.
The threads for that whole story were weak and added nothing to the show, it only helped to ruin it.
Lucifronz how is he an asshole ? Sorry but imo it made them feel more real
When he completely shut down Pam after she messed up recording the recital. She looked so happy because she got the commission and then he just shit on her over the phone.
MrPopTarted okay well he really wanted to see the recital and couldn’t be there and he specifically asked her to do a simple task and she said she could do it and she didn’t ..is Jim just never allowed to get angry and anything ?
5:40 So cool Mose went back to get a degree 😀😀😀
I totally agree with you. It started to die when Jim and Pam found out that they are pregnant, just like every other pair in other TV series (friends) . And slowly it died. Even if Michael Scott was there, the series was kind of mediocre. After season 5 , it became mediocre
I agree on the jim and pam part but Steve Carrell would have still kept the show going
One thing nobody talks about is that the Office ditched all of its straight men. Toby, Oscar, David, Darryl, Ryan and at times Jan were terrific straight men. Then the writers saw it necessary to make them as goofy as everybody else. That made the show lose its toehold in reality. Another thing is that they thought every character needed an "arc". Such as - thinking that Angela needed "softening". In doing so, she became no longer funny. In life, you meet people who just never change. To give Angela such an about-face just didn't work.
Peter Collin that's so true! That reminds me of when Pam and Jim went on their honeymoon and Oscar called them because the ratio of crazies to normals was thrown off balance. That's essentially what happened to the show
Agreed, after Ryan became Superintendent, it ruined his character for me for the rest of the show. At first, he was the only one in the office who hadn't been completely absorbed by the madness, and he reflected how a typical person would react to most of the thing that happened on the show. Eventually though, he stopped being that character completely, and the writers couldn't figure out what to do with him. It was especially confusing to me how bad he always wanted to get back with Kelly, despite how much he originally hated it.
Oscar was never a straight man
@@alexplainlater9770 In comedy a "straight man" is someone who keeps their composure in front of an eccentric character. It's something you find in duos/partners. For a time Oscar was the stiff in The Office who didn't bother to get involved in crazy antics. Once Michael left, characters started to fill the vacuum by occasionally being the comedic center of an episode.
@@Atomsk88 r/woooooosh
Anyone else hated how Pam and Jim kept having fights when Jim pursued a different career?
Ya I hated Pam the whole final season
Yeah, sorta seemed like they wanted to do something with Jim and Pam besides marriage and pregnancy.
i think they wanted to have more pressing conflict to their relationship besides the whole "waiting for pam" thing. or to make their relationship more "relatable", because most marriages go through a rough patch, or to try and make their relationship more meaningful because "love is tested by suffering".
David Rojas
No
I also think it was to add realism to the marriage. There are gonna be disagreements and fights, especially with a drastic life change like that
Average person: The office is dead
Dwight: HOLD MY MOSE
The German “adaptation” came out a full year before the Office US.
The UK version smartass
Clearly all Jager mains are dumh
Pure salt
I've seen some people saying they've just watched entire Office for the first time and don't see the big deal with the last seasons. I'll just say that binging a show is not the same as watching it week to week, year to year. One can zoom through those last few seasons in a couple weeks. maybe less if you're really into it. but watching a show you invested several years on slowly wither and die is a much harder task. Its like people who have recently binged The Walking Dead on Netflix and say "I don't see the big deal with season 2". Its cause it took them days, not months to get through it. same principle.
Thats an awful argument.
lilshabaz1862 honestly I really like the last seasons. We learn more about Erin and Pam and Jim and there is the whole thing with the affair and Angela’s baby. I don’t really notice Steve cartel is gone
@@chloebz8797 Game of Thrones has become a great example of that as well. Especially S8.
Eh, I feel like this was super exaggerated. The Office honestly still had some good shit after Michael left, it just wasn't AS good
Fair enough.
agree. people who stopped watching after michael missed out on some great stuff
The stuff with Robert California & Nellie was kinda annoying but I don't think it ever "died."
I think the earlier seasons were the dull ones.
Steve was the heart of the show, it just wasn’t the same after. Sure there was some good episodes after but damn, it just wasn’t the same.
I agree. Even at it's lowest, it had more heart and better characters than the vast majority of programs out there. I also think it redeemed itself with an excellent finale, tying things up in a satisfying and heartwarming way.
Robert California saved the show from Will Ferrell and any other bosses
Jim Carey would’ve been awesome but he needed to go to the Hand Lakes first 😩
I agree Jim Carrey is lit
LockerBoy51 indeed I’m intrigued when I consider what might have been.
We coulda had GOB too..
I agree. I am watching the Office for the first time and I am on season 7 and am at the point where I am like what's happening???
The story with Erin is completely pathetic like I don't get how she lasted so long cause her character is very annoying. I find myself asking for more originals from Jim, Pam, Dwight and Michael and then realized that their storyline concluded so now they using office fillers to fill that void. Erin and Andy are very annoying as well as Gabe.
I just can't believe they created and kept such a character for what I thought for the first 6 seasons were clever developments and writing.
Agreed. Erin and Gabe were definitely terrible characters but the actors redeemed themselves in subsequent series. Ellie Kemper in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (Netflix) and Zach Woods in Silicon Valley (HBO).
@@nedflanders2943 haven't watched this but thanks will definitely. Got nothing against the people but I have an issue with these characters and their development and how the writers chose to portray them. Thanks a bunch hey!
I don't know when the Office died, but I died inside when Andy Bernard started getting a lot of screen time.
J Shepard he was my favorite character until Michael left then he became terrible ugh
I agree, it goes back to what Elk was talking about. More characters who were originally one note started getting more screen time, and that's just not how their were written. Andy was written as a sycophant and we watched his arc get completed by failing to win over Michael. Then he just turned into a goofy guy who sings all the time and is bad at his job. There's no real arc there, there's nothing really keeping us interested.
J Shepard it died when they made Andy manager and not Dwight
Fuck you, he went to Cornell.
Redooo doo doo doo
I respect your opinion, but I still think "Goodbye Micheal" is the day the show died. While Jim and Pam got a tad boring to me after the wedding, I still felt like there was plenty of interesting stories and jokes. When Carrel left, I stopped laughing. That's what happens when a show dies for me. Still, a fantastic video essay and I look forward to seeing more!
Totally agree! They lost something when Jim and Pam married but there was still something carrying the show, and I for one only realized that something was Michael when he left. It's kind of like they lost a lung in Niagara, but you know, you can still live with one, but then your second one gets punctured and there's no salvaging it after that - it's a steep decline until the sweet, sweet release of death
Although the show declined after Michael left, I really enjoyed the last couple seasons. I loved Robert California's character but I hated what they did to Andy.
I feel the show died when they made Nellie the manager she didn’t have what Andy or Michael had wich was entertaining, dramatic and exciting
Andy was boring as manager, nobody could take Michael's place
