Hey if you're planning on reading Lost Legends after you're finished with the show, might I suggest you watch this fan dub of it instead(especially if you plan on making a reaction to it). They really nailed the voices and made it feel like real episodes in various other ways. ruclips.net/video/e-ZAdae8feo/видео.html
Not sure how many people picked up on this, but back in the season one episode Irrational Treasure you hear Quentin Trembley say "The only thing we have to fear is Giant Man Eating Spiders!" and what do they encounter in this episode Giant Man Eating Spiders!!
Did you catch in episode 8 trembly days “BY JEFFERSON!” But in episode 9 when they time travel back to the time when trembly was president the guy said “BY TREMBLY!” Instead
I’d like to point out that this is Stans last chance to get back at these particular enemy’s before he has to close down the shack, since Ford wants him out at the end of summer.
Congrats on making it through with an actual fear of spiders. Theres a fun little detail in the journal about Stan’ divorce and another Disney show you’re watching.
I didn't even see anything outright flirty. Being funny is now being flirty? And all those girls were expecting long distance relationship after one fun encounter?
This is one of those episodes that, to me at least, suffers largely due to its placement and how it ignores what has happened in the previous episodes. It's kind of jarring jumping from an episode focused on the return of the series's big villain, to a random road trip episode that doesn't really advance the plot in any way. It's also annoying seeing Dipper, who we all assumed was over Wendy, still be hung up on her, despite that conflict being resolved ages ago. If this episode were placed a little closer towards the beginning of the season, it would work a lot better, both character and plot wise. The other problem is that almost if not none of the previously established plot points, such as the rift, the shield around the shack, or even Ford, is mentioned in this episode. I have learned that this is due to the episode having been planned much earlier than when it was released, but that doesn't mean that any of these elements couldn't have been mentioned. Having this be like "Dungeons, Dungeons, and more Dungeons" would have worked a lot better. Having little bits of the story be revealed or developed while we witness the last time these characters just have some fun would have made this both a great "calm before the storm," as stated in this thread, while reminding the audience that this is still from the same season as the last episode. Overall, this episode is flawed, but I wouldn't say its terrible or outright bad. With a few tweaks, like shifting its placement and including some perviously established elements, I do think it could have worked, maybe even been great. Hell, if they couldn't think of anything else, they could have thrown Pacifica in the plot. The other problems would still be there, but it would at least be more interesting seeing Dipper interact with a girl his age that he shares history with, rather than him still being lovesick over Wendy. Anyway, thanks for reading my TED talk about the writing in a cartoon for children. Feel free to disagree. This argument has been edited to improve its claims.
Hey i don't know if you know but originally this episode was going to be in season 1 that's why Stanford isn't mentioned in here they made it for season 1 but i assume they forgot so they placed it here for a filler which is another reason why dipper still likes Wendy even though he was past it earlier season 2
@@chrisg5394 That would explain a lot. If that is the case though, that just means that this episode could have been placed closer to the beginning, rather than right before the end, fixing a bunch of its issues.
Don't know who else thinks this or maybe it's actually comfirmed but the reason Stan loved his wax figure so much is because it reminded him of his twin brother who he lost. That's why he was devastated when he lost it. He left for a second time and lost his brother again.
I remember you saying "I'm terrified of spiders" back in the Irrational Treasure episode, and thinking: "oh, he's gonna L O V E episode 16 of season 2"
One thing that always bothered me about this episode was how Dipper was made out to be in the wrong when he was doing the same thing Mabel was doing all summer. Mabel flirted with guys constantly, often total creeps. Dipper flirts with a couple nice girls and he is the bad guy? I just don't understand. Maybe its because he was doing it so soon, but like Stan said, its a road trip, Dipper wouldn't see those girls again. Them all coming together in one place is a huge coincidence. I don't care that Mabel flirted with guys all summer, I just don't like how its ok when she does it but then when Dipper does it he is berated and guilt-tripped. Thats the end of my unnecessary rant 😂
(Speaking from past mistakes and experiences, and also having been around the GF fandom on Tumblr for a bit) Personally I think one of the biggest differences is that Dipper was specifically leading them on by only using them to “practice talking to girls”. One of the reasons he started to normalize it was the thought that he would never see these girls ever again. That and he had the express intent of wanting to “move on” from Wendy, thus making the girls his rebounds essentially, which is also bad. In the end it all unravels when he does indeed meet all the girls again, at the same time. For Mabel, admittedly she does tend to come across as too upfront and in your face with the way she flirts (see episode 1), but she never had the intent of “lead the guys on only to break their hearts and never see them again”. Like with the Mermando situation and other guys she went after, her intent was to find that epic summer romance that she’s always dreamed about. Leading on a girl only for the girl to find out that the guy has been talking with other girls, especially at the age they are in the show, is especially heartbreaking because for Candy, she honestly started to like him and if it weren’t for the end of the episode I doubt that she would ever have let it go (I was stupid in the past in the same way as Dipper, and the girls I hurt never let it go to this day)
mabel didn’t flirt with those guys simultaneously, and she was genuinely infatuated with each of them. sure she was boycrazy, but that’s not the same thing as using people as rebounds to make yourself feel more confident. dipper wasn’t actually interested in any of those girls, unlike mabel.
Fun Facts: Originally the ending credit scene was supposed to be different. Soos rolled around in the corn until he spelled out "Help, I'm bored". A helicopter passed by and saw it, then dropped down and instead of rescuing him, gave Soos a pencil and a book of mazes. Then left him where he is. This ending was cut due to how weird it was. During the Sky train scene, if you look close enough you can actually see Alex Hirsch animated in one of them. Now, originally the opening to this episode was going to be a lot different and not be about Dipper focusing on Wendy. Originally Dipper, Mabel, and Soos go to get Ice Cream but are short on the money they have, so Dipper is sent to get spare change from some girls. It doesn't go well as he's chased off, all the while ironically they were throwing coins at him. Dipper gets laughed at from Soos and Mabel, all the while he's wishing for something to distract them, which is where the RV comes into play as Stan drives up. Now this gives Dipper different motivation as to why he goes on the trip, and I have to say that could have been better for the episode. Well in my opinion.
Yeah... while I love that Dipper and Stan got to bond more this episode and I think the show definitely needed a breather with the previous ep being intense, the messy message and a roadtrip right after they protected the Shack makes it feel weird. Not to mention a lack of Ford when he already has limited screentime. I would love it so much if they did an ep with a Dipper+Stan A plot and a B plot with Ford interacting with Soos+Wendy+the Mystery Shack
If any episodes feel like "Filler" to me, in this series, it's this one and _"Boss Mabel"_ from season 1. Even though both of them are well written and loads of fun, they feel like slightly incongruous interjections, interrupting the flow of the season, rather than being part of it. That's how I draw the line between "breather" and "filler" - the former feels like it's saying, "Phew, that was intense. Here's a momentary lull in the tension, allowing our heroes to have a life and deal with other things for a moment," and the latter feels more like, "And now for something completely different! Here's _Webster Smogpule and his Musical Mice!"_ I completely understand your feelings about the spider-thing. I've seen this episode many times now, and I _still_ get involuntary shudders and body twitches. Though the line, "Let me slip into something more _horrifying,"_ still makes me laugh, despite the accompanying visuals. Did you notice how the shades that "human" Darlene has pushed up on her forehead subtly suggest the multiple eyes of a spider, or her "dreamcatcher" earrings that are reminiscent of spiderwebs?
I applaud you for getting through this episode with arachnophobia But at least Darlene won’t be making any more appearances as she’s stuck under that boot
"How do they have mummies everyday?" Well, Grunkle Stan has the answer to that. But in all seriousness, kinda of a breather but also kind of a let down episode. We just got a shield for the Shack and they really don't discuss anymore on it, just.... "Hey y'all, I know that it's all building up right now but hey, road trip y'all!" At least the next episode holds it up...... For a price ;)
I'm arachnophobic too and this episode was quite hard to watch, considering I kept shivering every 10 seconds 🤧 Can't wait for the next though, it's so sad that it's almost over 😢😢
Am i the only one who feels tht this breather placement is actually grt ... cuz this ep is clearly trying to say tht.."Enjoy while u still can cuz it isnt the same from here on out"
I may be one of the few people that watched this episode when it aired and actually enjoyed it. Maybe it’s my fascination with spiders or maybe it’s because I actually feel bad about and relate to Dipper from my own personal experience with girls. Given the comments section, I’ll admit it’s not the “best” episode, but then again people tend to not enjoy the “filler/breather” episodes that don’t advance the plot in any way. I just enjoyed the fact that Alex Hirsch made an episode almost entirely dedicated to dunking on other tourist trap attractions.
I *definitely* think that your feelings about spiders can make or break your reaction to this episode. (I'm more with Mikey on this; although, I can say that there are some good thing about the ep! but man... why with the scary spider lady?)
I don't think it's terrible. There can be a lot to enjoy in this episode. I think a lot of the criticism stems from its placement. If this were near the beginning of the season, after "Into the Bunker," I think it wouldn't get nearly as much hate as it gets.
@@EasyEighty-Eight I agree with that. As I said elsewhere, this could have replaced Little Gift Shop of Horrors, or even The Love God, and I don't think the fandom would have complained very much. (But for people who are majorly disturbed by spiders, that is always going to be a huge mark against it.) But like, I *do* love that they go visit other tourist traps and there's this rivalry and Stan is pranking them; that stuff is great.
@@gryphonvert Most definitely. It still feels like Gravity Falls, and it's not like the characters are, well, out of character. Some tweaking and I bet that this could have been good, if not great.
Probably one of my favorite episodes, one thing I find weird though is how when Dipper does something bad he’s seen as horrible and he faces consequences but when Mabel does something bad it’s all fine, Idk it’s weird. It’s also ironic and kinda hypocritical how Mabel says “move on” when in multiple episodes it’s shown that she’s still upset about all the guys she’s had crushes on, it just kinda irritates me. I also love how the Spider lady says “let me slip into something more horrifying” I just find it so funny
@@hello-wl7pk yeah but in general, whatever selfish or plain bad thing Mabel does is mostly excused at the end of the episode without real consequences for her
I’m partial to this episode. It’s definitely not one of the best, but I think I like it a lot because it spawned one of my favorite crack ships: Dipper x Emma Sue (upside down house girl). Yes I know that Stan convinced him to play the field and I know that it’s mostly false confidence coming from Dipper, but false confidence still ironically requires some real confidence, so I think it’s cool that the girls from the episode allowed Dipper to break out of his shell, and since we saw his interactions with Emma Sue, that’s the one I latched to.
Despite people not liking this episode (if it was in season 1 it would be fine), I can really relate to Dipper in this. Like a month before this episode aired, I was like 15 or something and I was on a school road trip. And so this friend of mine developed a crush on me and even did the "head falls on your shoulder " thing and my reaction was the same nervous "yep, this is going exactly as planned". Kids, right?
i think even if this had been in the first half of S2, it would have been okay. This could have taken the place of Little Gift Shop of Horrors, and I think few would complain about that.
For those of you who are scared of spiders: look up the feet of a pink toed turantula. They have tiny fuzzy paw looking feet with toe pads and everything. It's super cute
I applaud your dedication for getting through this one, Mikey, even though it was terribly hard! It's my least favorite ep of Gravity Falls because the spider design absolutely gives me the creeps. I had much more of a spider phobia when I was younger; as time has gone on, I've gotten calmer about spiders and insects, although I don't *love* them; but Darlene is just EXTRA CREEPY and I hate it. (After I first binged the series, I then showed it to my group of friends in 3-4 ep bursts. But one of them has a spider/insect phobia on the level of yours, and when we got to this one, I just didn't show it to them. I told them generally what happens, and that's it. It seemed a kinder thing to do.) As others have said, the other reason I'm not fond of it is because of the way it totally ignores the big point of the last episode -- making the Shack safe. And, because we get so few episodes with Ford (overall), that it feels like we were cheated having a whole episode where he's literally not in it at all. (Especially after he was almost completely sidelined in The Stanchurian Candidate, too.) I would have felt more warmly towards this ep if it had had more of an "A-plot, B-plot" structure and if they'd done *something* with Ford in a B-plot. (I can't remember where I read it now, but I've heard people explain the whole "we made the Shack safe, so now let's leave it and go on an extended road-trip!" aspect as Ford encouraging them to leave, because he thinks they will be safer from Bill outside of Gravity Falls. I don't *think* that was said by the writers, though? So, who knows.)
@@MikeyVenture Yeah, I'm surprised that, once they decided to use this concept/script for an ep at this point in the season, they didn't slip in at least a LITTLE reference to provide continuity with the previous episode. A token line from Dipper. A sarcastic reference to Ford by Stan. You're right that it seems especially weird that Dipper says nothing, after being SO involved in discovering the stakes in the previous episode. I feel like it's never been quite clear what this ep's status was? Although it may be I'm forgetting a definitive statement from the dvd commentaries. What I mean is -- I know that some fans have speculated this was "a finished script" they had, that they intended to use earlier, and dusted off for this. I've even heard some speculate that they "made" the ep. But I think the latter is pretty much impossible, the way animation production works -- you don't go so far as to make *an entire ep* that you then don't use. At most you make a scene that might get cut -- like the unicorn fight scene from last ep. Not the whole ep; that's too expensive! Similarly, from everything I've heard about how "writing" an animation episode goes, it sounds like a lot of them only have very rough scripts to start with? A first pass, if you will; but then a lot of working out of the "script" takes place once an ep is boarded, and a lot of stuff gets refined, taken out, or added during that process. Again, I can't see them spending the time it would take to fully board out an ep like this, just to let that work go to waste when they don't use it (initially; only to bring it back later). So my best guess would be that they had the concept more or less settled, that it's something they did discuss in depth and outline as a possibility for earlier in S2 (or even in S1, I guess -- but the heavy reliance on "getting over Wendy" seems like it points to after "Into the Bunker"). They perhaps had a first-pass script, and probably concept art of the other tourist traps. But it's only when they decided to plug this ep into the 2x17 slot that they fully boarded it and so on. And that's why it seems weird to me that they couldn't work in a line or two that would have tied it more into the continuity. (Of course, if I'm wrong about this theory on the production stages of an ep for the show, and there's confirmation somewhere that this ep was truly much more finished than you'd expect, I'd love to see where that's talked about and confirmed!) While I'm sure you don't want to go back over this ep any more than you have to, Mikey -- there's a little easter egg in the ep that you can appreciate if you freeze-frame it at the right time. When they are in the sky-tram and Darlene is coming for them, there's a shot of other people in some of the other sky-tram cars. One of the cars has a pretty accurate version of Alex Hirsch, and supervising producer Rob Renzetti. (If you want a link to just a screenshot of them, so you don't have to go back through it, let us know!)
Honestly in my country, or at least in some religion in my country, we kinda consider spider as sacred being because it is an animal that help Prophet. If we see it crossing we just ignore it. It kinda interesting to see many western people have phobia to spider. But here most people afraid of cockroaches especially if it's flying. 😂
Oof I just realised this is the first time we see Stan's entire brand that's not in a flashback (for a split second anyway) So much for Stan telling Dipper that he was "never gonna see it" but I guess its heartwarming in a way that he relaxed around him Edit: oh well I thought it was shown but squinting at it more it looks like they forgot to draw it lol. Welp at least the second part of my comment still counts
The spider people (Arachnimorphs) were actually foreshadowed a bit in one of Candy's pamphlets shortly before they arrived at Mystery Mountain. It's subtle (like with the Gnomes in S1E1) but it is there. As for the episode itself I think it's decent. Definitely not the best episode out there but still decent. Episode fun facts (courtesy of the GF wiki): -On the side of Stan's map of the tourist traps, there is a box with text in it which reads: "Oregon is known for its natural beauty, but, lets be honest guys, trees get boring after a while." "That's why man created tourist traps. There's a really big shoe, for example. And the yarn ball is neat. I haven't been there but I've heard good things." -The Fire Retardant Racoon was originally supposed to be a bear. The racoon also appears to be a subtle nod to the racoon that appeared in the unaired pilot. -Darlene originally had a much more terrifying design. -Many of the locations the characters visit in the episode were inspired by locations visited by Alex and the crew during a 4 day long roadtrip they took in 2013 between production of seasons 1 and 2, called Mystery Tour. -Alex Hirsch and Rob Renzetti have been animated and can be seen riding the Trambience. Alex being there is a joke from the crew and has shown up in past episodes as well, such as Bottomless Pit's Truth Ache story and Soos and the Real Girl's credits. -One of the numbers written on Dipper's arm ends with "0618", a recurring reference to the Hirsch twins' birthday (June 18th). P.S. If you dislike spiders that much then I doubt you'd enjoy the series "So I'm a Spider, So What?" even though it's really entertaining in my opinion.
CIPHER UPDATE: The key word, “DOPPER” can be seen hidden in the webs of New Mummies Daily. The end credits cipher decodes to, “SOOS, LIKE A NOBLE GOLDEN RETRIEVER, EVENTUALLY FOUND HIS WAY HOMEWARD, AND BEFRIENDED A TALKING BULLDOG AND SASSY CAT ALONG THE WAY” and the cipher on the end picture decodes to, “CARLA MCCORKLE RETURNED ALL HIS FLOWERS, MARILYN DIVORCED HIM AFTER ONLY SIX HOURS, BEATRICE SLAPPED HIM FOR BEING A CAD, OLD GOLDIE’S THE BEST GIRLFRIEND STAN EVER HAD.”. Fun Facts: This episode is inspired by Alex Hirsch and the Gravity Falls team taking a road trip all across Oregon and Northern California and visiting the weirdest tourist attractions that they could find. They even ended up visiting Confusion Hill which is the main inspiration for the Mystery Shack and it basically is the Mystery Shack in real life. They also did this thing where they drew a Bill Cipher on uncertain locations and they encouraged fans to find them. For more to learn about that, just look up Mystery Tour 2013.
Surely you know that we all watch reactors in the hope that they have a potent phobia just waiting to be triggered - there have been some classic moments on various channels. ^_~
One of many things I really like about _Gravity Falls_ is the fact that the morality and even the lessons aren’t black and white. Like yeah Stan did do his best to help Dipper move on like the awesome grunkle he is, it’s just that his methods weren’t exactly the best. Plus, just seeing Stan and Dipper bond like that was a huge treat ☺️ Also I think you deserve to know what was going on in the fandom in the interim between “The Last Mabelcorn” and this episode: *Ford:* “Alright, we’re safe as long as we stay inside the shack.” *Stan:* “HEY, KIDS, WANNA GO ON A ROAD TRIP?”
I’m pretty sure there’s an unfinished deleted storyboard scene where Soos manages to carve “IM BORED” or smthn into the corn maze he’s trapped in, so a rescue helicopter flies down to give him a comic book
Thanks for for this one and for the pain you endured! Creepy but good episode. I will never understand why they aired this one after “The Last Mabelcorn” and not before it. The episodes only aired 2 weeks apart. Having them Bill-proof the shack for safety from him and then leaving the shack to go on a road trip the next episode made no sense.
loved the video as always, but please do remember not to force yourself or anything. I have a phobia too and it gives me a general idea of how much it can suck for it to be triggered, so as entertaining as this was I hope it wasn't too much for you!
as someone who likes spiders, It's always funny to see people who are afraid of them.. I mean it's not like having a phobia is funny, just entertaining for someone who's looking from the outside (also it's not real spiders, It's a cartoon)
Stan was right he didn’t deserve having the Mystery Shack ransacked because at the beginning he says the other tourists spots have been bothering him for years. Also Dipper did nothing wrong. All he did was talk to girls, no promises of relationships beyond friends that met on the road
When you mentioned that you can’t stand spiders in any form some episodes ago ( I think the bunker one) I thought about this one and I feel so bad for you xC
I think this was such a creative episode and I loved the three different side plots. The last place they go to destroy is actually what the mystery shack is based off of. Great video. It’s still January 4th, 31/?
I understand you with all this spiders staff. I'm okay with them, however... Wasps. Gosh, no. I always ask my dad to get rid of one if it's in my room, and I'm 24 haha. I'm too petrified to even come closer. Drawn ones don't bring me pleasure too 😅
This has been fun going through your reactions on this. Makes me a little sad. I didn't catch them as they were airing I was waiting for your reaction to this one. I knew it was going to be a rough one for you.
Stan was married once to a woman named Marelyn, they met in Vegas when they went for the same slot machine. She had bleached skin, fake looking hair, one weirdly sharp tooth and a t-shirt that said "over 30 and very flirty". She married him for 2 days as a distraction to rob him and steal his car, there was a police chase culminating in her driving into a ravine and vanishing into thin air. Hmm, bleached skin, weird hair, sharp tooth, just vanished, why does this all sound so familiar?
@@Dedi-m5n I'm just saying, does that remind you of anyone. Maybe someone from another show that's very similar to gravity falls and just as good, arguably better. Maybe that one of the more prominent voice actors also lends his vocals to, in particular one of the most beloved characters in modern Disney
Hello Mikey, I laughed my butt off in an earlier episode, When you said you have a fear of spiders . I just thought oh my god what will happen when he sees roadside attraction in season 2, this episode. I don’t blame you some spiders are damn scary. Arachnophobia is no joke. I don’t want the smaller ones it’s the really big suckers that weird me out a bit. Here we go the last episode before it happens the beginning of the end when the world goes weird I’m looking forward to seeing how you react to the final episodes of gravity falls one thing about Alex is it when he plans the series he plans a series and things that you might have overlooked come back into it as critical points. I will say this, Alex only planned for two seasons. It was the sort of get it done. Get it done right and get it finished. Look forward to watching your future reactions

Credits: SOOS, LIKE A NOBLE GOLDEN RETRIEVER, EVENTUALLY FOUND HIS WAY HOMEWARD, AND BEFRIENDED A TALKING BULLDOG AND SASSY CAT ALONG THE WAY (A refference to the comedy adventure "Homeward Bound".) Numbers: CARLA MCCORKLE RETURNED ALL HIS FLOWERS MARILYN DIVORCED HIM AFTER ONLY SIX HOURS BEATRICE SLAPPED HIM FOR BEING A CAD OLD GOLDIE'S THE BEST GIRLFRIEND STAN EVER HAD
Damn, I was certain you'd hate this episode due to the spider, but not quite to this extent, omg. Poor Mikey 🥺 I felt so bad for you, I kept thinking, take a break, breathe a little...
This episode is a fun to watch and I don't think it deserves that much of hates, but there's one reason makes me dislike it: Dipper still hasn't moved on from his feeling over Wendy. They even have to make Dipper date with 4 other girls at the same time which annoys a hell out of me since he did have really great chemistry with Pacifica in Northwest Mansion Mystery episode, and that relationship hasn't been mentioned ever since lol (Dipcifica 4 life)
Outa curiosity Mikey, are you at all afraid of snakes? I totally understand the fear of spiders, but I’ve never understood why people are afraid of snakes. Mostly just curious
prob the most underrated or overhated Episode of Gravity Falls. The Episode itself is pretty good but the only problem is the timing were the episode came out right before the finale is not that good😊
I’m sad this is almost ending 😭… but when it ends can you react to Steven universe series it’s an amazing superhero, learning a family past and, heartfelt show
This episode was actually my least favorite of the series, but not for the reasons it bothered you. ;) This episode was originally supposed to air much earlier, but wasn't done in time, so it ran right before the final episodes. The placement is very awkward and some fans didn't like a 'breather' at this point. Personally, I see the rest of the episodes as 'Gravity Falls- the Movie.' I usually recommend people binge the last bits together, but that could just be me. Always love your reactions!
This was definitely my least favorite episode. I understand the message it’s trying to convey, but it’s very forced and honestly it’s delivered very horribly. Before anyone @s me, I’ve seen several series handle this topic much MUCH better. This is about the only time I feel gravity falls drops the ball.
Thanks for clicking on the video and watching everyone! Remember if you enjoy the reaction please give the video a like and leave comments! I love seeing all your thoughts on Gravity Falls!
But please remember to be mindful of not typing out spoilers and expectation spoilers. These reactions are more fun for everyone when I don’t know what to expect going into each episode.

Not sure how many people picked up on this, but back in the season one episode Irrational Treasure you hear Quentin Trembley say "The only thing we have to fear is Giant Man Eating Spiders!" and what do they encounter in this episode Giant Man Eating Spiders!!
I didn't get that
THE GIANT ENEMY SPIDER!
Did you catch in episode 8 trembly days “BY JEFFERSON!” But in episode 9 when they time travel back to the time when trembly was president the guy said “BY TREMBLY!” Instead
Says not days*
@@lukefiore9613 I didn't pick up on that. There is so much you notice because of reaction videos and rewatches.
I’d like to point out that this is Stans last chance to get back at these particular enemy’s before he has to close down the shack, since Ford wants him out at the end of summer.
That’s a valid point
I like how dipper asked someone who struggled to get with lazy Susan for dating advice
He wasn't around for that part of the episode so unless Mabel told him he doesn't know any better
Congrats on making it through with an actual fear of spiders. Theres a fun little detail in the journal about Stan’ divorce and another Disney show you’re watching.
I don't think Dipper did anything wrong. Flirting with a girl you've met once, when you're kids, is hardly a promise to remain exclusive.
U said it
I didn't even see anything outright flirty. Being funny is now being flirty? And all those girls were expecting long distance relationship after one fun encounter?
I agree, and he didn’t promise them anything either
If that is the case though, that just means that this episode could have been placed closer to the beginning, rather than right before the end, fixing a bunch of its issues.
yeah this is easily the weakest ep.
Mabel hasn’t done the same thing. She gets a guy sort of breaks up then another. Dipper kept getting girls even though he had some.
I think it’s a fun episode but you definitely make excellent points. Very weird placement
Don't know who else thinks this or maybe it's actually comfirmed but the reason Stan loved his wax figure so much is because it reminded him of his twin brother who he lost. That's why he was devastated when he lost it. He left for a second time and lost his brother again.
Alex mentions this in Between the Pines
I like to see Stan and Dipper bond, even if he gives terrible advice sometimes :D
Mabel wanted them dipper didn’t
May be mabel does it one person at a time? While dipper does it simultaneously?
(Speaking from past mistakes and experiences, and also having been around the GF fandom on Tumblr for a bit)
Personally I think one of the biggest differences is that Dipper was specifically leading them on by only using them to “practice talking to girls”.
@@zanyrando9972 that was also one person at the time, you do know he got advise from Stan right
Ford in previous episode: As long as we stay in the Shack, we'll be safe from Bill.
Stanley: Did someone said roadtrip?
Just from the thumbnail I can already tell Mikey's arachnophobia will be in full force.
After how last episode ended, I was _so_ scared of seeing Bill in the credits scene and possessing Soos
Hehe
Yeah... while I love that Dipper and Stan got to bond more this episode and I think the show definitely needed a breather with the previous ep being intense, the messy message and a roadtrip right after they protected the Shack makes it feel weird.
Here's _Webster Smogpule and his Musical Mice!"_
I completely understand your feelings about the spider-thing.
I don't care about filler as long as its a good episode, and this is one of my favourites
I applaud you for getting through this episode with arachnophobia
But at least Darlene won’t be making any more appearances as she’s stuck under that boot
"How do they have mummies everyday?"
Well, Grunkle Stan has the answer to that.
But in all seriousness, kinda of a breather but also kind of a let down episode. We just got a shield for the Shack and they really don't discuss anymore on it, just.... "Hey y'all, I know that it's all building up right now but hey, road trip y'all!"
At least the next episode holds it up...... For a price ;)
That shield rlly proves it’s worth later
@@Mist_Hashira_Muichiro it really did until.... (SPOILERS!)
The Achilles Heel
I'm arachnophobic too and this episode was quite hard to watch, considering I kept shivering every 10 seconds 🤧
Can't wait for the next though, it's so sad that it's almost over 😢😢
I know I’ve been watching this show since November. Can’t believe it’s almost over 😢
This is basically how I figured the reaction to this episode was gonna play out 😂.
It was all downhill once Candy showed the pamphlet
Am i the only one who feels tht this breather placement is actually grt ... cuz this ep is clearly trying to say tht.."Enjoy while u still can cuz it isnt the same from here on out"
Thank you!! So many people are mad at this episode and it’s placement, and I’ve always loved it!!!
"The only thing we have to fear is gigantic, man-eating spiders!"
-Quentin Trembly, Irrational Treasure
He was right all along.
Well, not the _only_ thing we have to fear, but definitely one of them
can we take a second to talk how grenda was holding up a piece of yarn carrying two people with just one arm
"too much"?
I mean she carried a sofa as a weapon
Dipper - Darlene is a spider woman
Quentin Trembley - I always got a point boy
@@gryphonvert I liked the spider lady (not gonna say why) but def enjoyed this ep
I also love how the Spider lady says “let me slip into something more horrifying” I just find it so funny
all of mabel’s crushes/relationships had an end before she started another one. she never pursued more than one person at once
@@hello-wl7pk yeah but in general, whatever selfish or plain bad thing Mabel does is mostly excused at the end of the episode without real consequences for her
@hello-wl7pk Dipper didn't do that either. He was socializing with them not asking them out. It isn't a bad thing to socialize with multiple girls
Also gotta love how Stan prayed to Paul Bunyan and the spider was stopped by a statue of Paul Bunyan.
I don’t want to 😭
I applaud your dedication for getting through this one, Mikey, even though it was terribly hard! It seemed a kinder thing to do.)
As others have said, the other reason I'm not fond of it is because of the way it totally ignores the big point of the last episode -- making the Shack safe.
I really do believe this probably was suppose to be placed somewhere else in the season. Dipper going along surprised me
@@MikeyVenture Yeah, I'm surprised that, once they decided to use this concept/script for an ep at this point in the season, they didn't slip in at least a LITTLE reference to provide continuity with the previous episode.
(Of course, if I'm wrong about this theory on the production stages of an ep for the show, and there's confirmation somewhere that this ep was truly much more finished than you'd expect, I'd love to see where that's talked about and confirmed!)
While I'm sure you don't want to go back over this ep any more than you have to, Mikey -- there's a little easter egg in the ep that you can appreciate if you freeze-frame it at the right time.
Can't wait for the next few episodes!! Super excited to see your reaction to the rest of the series!
I can’t believe your already almost done with this series
Great reaction! Haven't seen anybody mention it but this episode was originally supposed to air much earlier, pre Stanford!
Oof I just realised this is the first time we see Stan's entire brand that's not in a flashback (for a split second anyway)
So much for Stan telling Dipper that he was "never gonna see it" but I guess its heartwarming in a way that he relaxed around him
Edit: oh well I thought it was shown but squinting at it more it looks like they forgot to draw it lol.
Episode fun facts (courtesy of the GF wiki):
-On the side of Stan's map of the tourist traps, there is a box with text in it which reads:
"Oregon is known for its natural beauty, but, lets be honest guys, trees get boring after a while."
"That's why man created tourist traps. There's a really big shoe, for example. And the yarn ball is neat. I haven't been there but I've heard good things."
-The Fire Retardant Racoon was originally supposed to be a bear.
Mikey explicitly commented on the spider-people showing up in Candy's pamphlet.

At one point you looked like you had given up on all happiness and joy as you stared into infinity.
Him freaking out about the spider, what about an anime reaction: "So i'm a spider so what?" :D
and yeah, there was a channel which did a reaction to it and one of the dudes has arachnophobia, he has his eyes closed a lot of times
Oh man. The last breath of fresh air before the storm.
One of many things I really like about _Gravity Falls_ is the fact that the morality and even the lessons aren’t black and white. Like yeah Stan did do his best to help Dipper move on like the awesome grunkle he is, it’s just that his methods weren’t exactly the best. Plus, just seeing Stan and Dipper bond like that was a huge treat ☺️
Also I think you deserve to know what was going on in the fandom in the interim between “The Last Mabelcorn” and this episode:
*Ford:* “Alright, we’re safe as long as we stay inside the shack.”
*Stan:* “HEY, KIDS, WANNA GO ON A ROAD TRIP?”
I’m pretty sure there’s an unfinished deleted storyboard scene where Soos manages to carve “IM BORED” or smthn into the corn maze he’s trapped in, so a rescue helicopter flies down to give him a comic book
Stan Pines: Today, the Mountain falls...
I have a phobia too and it gives me a general idea of how much it can suck for it to be triggered, so as entertaining as this was I hope it wasn't too much for you!
personally, as someone who loves spiders, i understand the horror of Darleen. seeing a human face peel back into a monster is upsetting to anyone lol

as someone who likes spiders, It's always funny to see people who are afraid of them.. I mean it's not like having a phobia is funny, just entertaining for someone who's looking from the outside (also it's not real spiders, It's a cartoon)
I feel for you Mike. I've watched other reactors react to Gravity falls and even people who don't afraid of spider still find Darlene terrifying🥶
20:08 Do be fair, they did this to him first.
Stan was right he didn’t deserve having the Mystery Shack ransacked because at the beginning he says the other tourists spots have been bothering him for years. Also Dipper did nothing wrong. All he did was talk to girls, no promises of relationships beyond friends that met on the road
Right when I saw you freak about the spider in the pamphlet I knew you had a surprise coming.

This episode was actually my least favorite of the series, but not for the reasons it bothered you. ;) This episode was originally supposed to air much earlier, but wasn't done in time, so it ran right before the final episodes. The placement is very awkward and some fans didn't like a 'breather' at this point.

Yeah after watching it I thought it was odd. I was fully expecting a follow up to the previous one
This was definitely my least favorite episode. I understand the message it’s trying to convey, but it’s very forced and honestly it’s delivered very horribly. Before anyone @s me, I’ve seen several series handle this topic much MUCH better. This is about the only time I feel gravity falls drops the ball.
How about Spiderman? The scene where he get bitten by spider did you get scared in that moment?
Im I a sychopath for laughing at mickey being horrified by spiders ?
How can a loud pitched scream start an earthquake?
Star vs the forces of evil is a show I would like to watch you react to!
