E string. Chords are the shapes we make on our strings. But no. For open G tuning you tune your low E to a D. Keith doesn't use it tho. Only the top 5 strings for him. It's almost banjo tuning.
No! Your pointer finger can mute the E string while it holds the bar underneath. He cut the E string to be funny and show the whole riff is an X on the E.
@@lastofthe4horsemen279Yeah, but in 6-string G-tuning, you’d tune your low E to D, just like you would your high E, so no more clashing. That said, the reason Richards cut his low E string was for easier playing, and to eliminate that low D, making for a crisper sound.
Respectfully ,lm well aware of how open G is tuned and what you said seems like a different way to say the low D clashes or doesnt go well with some chords. Or notes ,and yes ease of playing is another good reason.Regardless ..If someone thinks it is stupid , playing it with a band wiil demonstrate why it is helpful.( so will playing it alone ) lt seems you and Keith feel it is helpful , so do l ,why seems to be up to the player.
@@lastofthe4horsemen279 Yeah, the other thing about Richards is he has a slew of guitars he takes on the road, so he can easily have a couple with 5 strings, tuned to Open G, and others tuned to whatever. And he has a guitar tech to take care of everything.
Wrong. He designed a 5 string guitar decades ago. You'll find the patent somewhere. Also Keith was fascinated by banjo tuning 5 strings. And country tunings. That's why no one plays Stones covers correctly. Either too stupid or too lazy to use the right tuning. I'm pretty sure he only uses open G on about 10 songs .But what alot of these channels don't tell you is Keith has a unique way of playing rythymn. It's a mean nasty boogie that's natural to him. Check out the RUclips channel that breaks down Gimme Shelter. It's three guitars. He plays them all. You'll see the unique style I can't remember the blokes name. He looks like the antithesis of Keith but he can play. It's under the title. This is our favourite Keith Richards song of all time Good luck.
So i don’t really have to cut my E chord right? if not we may i might have made a mistake.

Tune it to D

You mean E string?
Such a great riff
The infamous Keith Richards lick , which is done on 90% of his works ! Augh !
If you watch some of the videos I'm not so sure he ever had low E string on his guitar.
It does sound much better w/out low E string
Thats why I took it off my blonde Tele, I now call it Keef.
Love this song
Love Open G!!
AND ALL I NEED ARE CIGARETTES AND ALCOHOLLLLLL
I WAS LOOKING FOR SOME ACHTEEYUNNN
Because when it comes on top, you gotta make it happen
Already there 🍻🚬
It's cool man, Keef makes money with it. Your chord diagrams however, are incorrect, they show the chords being played one fret higher.
Open G tuning?
Que lindo esse som, é demais,
Me interesa la afinación de khif Richard, como funciona la afinación de dicha afinación en como se realiza los acordes en dicha afinación?
Luvin' that Daphne Blue tele. Great short lesson
That ain't Daphne blue. And it ain't either a Telecaster, friendo...
There's a really annoying advert for one of your products right in the middle of the screen that obscures the chord diagrams.
add swagger
What guitar is that
90年代のECですか?
Damn do i have to cut my top string to play this song 😮
No! Your pointer finger can mute the E string while it holds the bar underneath. He cut the E string to be funny and show the whole riff is an X on the E.
Your first finger just touches the E from underneath instead of holding it down. ☮️
Oh so that’s why my guitar sounds different
Oh! So, that's what was wrong with my guitar!
Keith dreaded that fat string, man!.....
All you need is Pliers
If you remove the top fat E string what do you tune the remaining 5 to?
GDGBD?
Well good for Keith, I always thought it was a stupid thing.
Its not stupid because the note clashes with alot of chrds in the tuning, like F

Forgot to tell people you need to tune your ur guitar to open G dor this other wise it will never sound quite right
He probably cut it because it was gonna be restrung soon
👍👍👍
Wait, but I cant play smoke on the water
Mute the E string.
It's just a nod to what Keith does
windows 95 vibes
Love it 😄
Why did you cut the e srtingn
Keith Richards is known for playing 5 strings guitar.
@@darkshiningstar3why did he play one
Coz of the open g tuning
its the little e he cuts
Who cuts a string like that? Not on my guitars pal
Many people dont know that Keith would play certain songs with only 5 strings-----
Not exactly
Tu não sabe nada meu, vai aprender com kiko Loureiro
How dare you? Destroying an innocent E String! Shame on you. 🤣🤣🤘👋
Katastrofa😂
I can’t understand why a string needs to be chopped off? 😂😂
Coz it wouldn’t open g tuning if the e was left on
Starts with a wire cutter mate
When you wanna play Keith's stuff, don't cut your E. Put a clothes pin on it
