  • North out of the Crow's Nest valley and then west across Davis Creek over to Reno Creek. Red line with NW heading is a straight line from Crow's Nest to the southern bluff looking over the LBH River and as the crow flies is approx. 12 miles. Total distance for the route is approx. 16 miles. It actually took Custer all day long to about 3:00 PM to reach the bluffs overlooking the Little Bighorn and the village. By 5:00 his entire battalion command was completely destroyed. Route begins at coordinate 13TCL340338

    Impressive work!
May I ask, how have you established the routs in relation to the landscape?
Also, how far away, counted in miles, did Benteen move away westward.
    Great job!

      Contact Benteeneast at thelbha.proboards.com/
He has rode on horseback that route. This is actually his route based on GPS on him.

you start foot of crows nest--why did you not show the actual spot they climbed up and looked over? is it the hills in the background? or is it the higher ridges out of view to the left of the starting point of the video?

Had no idea where I was after the first 10 seconds. Could have gone to the trouble to label key features, maybe done a chronology along the way. Try again.

I could have started anywhere, private property or not, because it was done using Google Earth. This was a while back for a forum discussion.

Amazing native Americans survived winters in dakotas..can you imagine living in a teepee in winter?

I've lived in a teepee. The're actually quite comfortable when set up right.
Even so, it would take a big fire, burning all night long - a LOT of wood, or Buffalo chips, whatever, they don't retain heat. As soon as the fire goes out, it's COLD.

I for one am sticking up for the Indians Custer deserved all he got but his men did not

      @-MattMcCauley- Год назад +2

Why, because he debatably made tactical errors, like splitting his forces (As he'd done successfully back in 1868 at the Battle of Washita River) and/or underestimating enemy strength and attacking too early, or because your emotions prompt you to somehow blame Custer personally for violating the Treaty of Fort Laramie viz a viz the Black Hills and thereby causing the Great Sioux War of 1876?
