I’m still waiting to hear back from Schulich. My average is 93.8 and this my supplementary what do you think my odds are? Is it u likely to get accepted at this point?
    Piano
I have been playing piano since the age of 9. I began by picking up a variety of songs with my dad on our electric keyboard and soon realized I had a natural affinity for music. Under my first piano instructor, I progressed quickly. She remarked that I was her most promising student. I attempted my first RCM piano exam at the age of 11. Currently, I am preparing for my RCM grade level six practical and technical examination. These exams have taught me how to constantly be disciplined and regimented. I practice regularly in order to attempt these exams. This work ethic allowed me to begin picking up the guitar by myself. Through my growing creativity and musical aptitude, I began to produce beats through a program called FL Studios. My technical knowledge of piano aided me when deciphering through major and minor key pairings and different chord progressions. Piano has taught me how to creatively express myself as well as how a dedicated work ethic can help you succeed in many avenues.
    Wrestling
In grade 10 I developed an interest in combat sports and decided to join the wrestling team. I competed in 8 tournaments and 26 matches. I won a silver medal at the city championship. Soon I competed in the NOSSA championships. I learned how to persevere and perform under pressure. Wrestling requires intense conditioning and technical practice as well as a performance-based diet. We trained 4 days a week. In grade 11, I also saw my wrestling technique improve. I was able to anticipate and plan out my moves more efficiently and think more critically during my matches. This helped me to stay competitive at the higher weight class and I received a silver medal at the Rouge Tournament. In grade 12 I wanted to compete in the OFSAA tournament in the 57.5kg weight class. I dieted and improved my cardiovascular ability by going on runs daily. I was not able to pursue it due to the pandemic Wrestling has taught me to persevere, give my best, think critically and pay attention to details.
    Kumon
I began working at Kumon at the beginning of grade 11. Teaching sessions at Kumon consists of marking children's Math and English worksheets. I also helped them with concepts and any questions they had during their sessions. One of the biggest challenges I faced while working at Kumon was changing my teaching style. Each child has a different level of intelligence and aptitude towards learning. I learned to adjust my teaching methods in order to fit these needs. Work at Kumon requires speed and accuracy to mark these worksheets, a skill which I developed and was recognized as a dependable employee. During the pandemic, Kumon shifted to a virtual learning format. We followed protocols that were different from In-class delivery. The online mode of delivery provided a one to one interaction with students. This helped me to strengthen my communication skills. Working at Kumon has taught me how to be adaptable to different circumstances and helped me to be more empathetic.
    Football
In order to maintain my cardio and physical fitness for wrestling, I joined the football team in grade 11. I soon realized that football kept me active but also it would end up having a very positive effect on my personality development. We practiced 2 hours a day, 5 days a week, playing a game every Friday. During our practices, we ran sprints, practiced different plays, and were taught to be resilient. Any play in football requires precise movements and a joint initiative in order to be successful. My fellow teammates and I strengthened our teamwork by training outside of practice. We created our own cheer for huddles and got to know each other's strengths and weaknesses. This teamwork served us well during our play off-season allowing us to make it to the semi-finals in our city championships. Football has taught me that individual skill can only get you to a certain point but resilience and teamwork will help you to achieve your maximum potential.
    Youth festival
India Canada Association of Sudbury hosts a multicultural event called Youth Festival every year. In the event youth present dance performances and a skit. I have participated in this event every year since grade 3. In grades 10 and 11 I led the 3 member organizing committee which planned the performance part of the festival. The script of the play, the main role, and the choreography of two of the dance performances was done by me. I marketed the event by designing posters and announcing the event during the Christmas and Republic Day functions. On behalf of the ICA and the 3 member organizing committee, I sent email invites to the Mayor and the Chief of Police. I developed a trivia game-show and hosted it in order to add audience interaction and also generate revenue. This game show ended up being very successful. Through this event, I developed organizational skills. By playing a lead role in this event I learnt how to lead a team and turn a vision into reality.

Can you do a video on the Schulich ibba experience? It would be interesting to hear firsthand experience on how it works and the pros and cons of the program.

Hey! I got into the UBCO's Management program and the iBBA course at York. What do you suggest me to choose?

"First, when making your decision I can’t stress how important it is to consider your future and where you want to be in 4-5 years. I know it can be difficult to think in that future-focused lens, but it's important to consider which university can help you get to where you want to be in the future. I can’t speak to the merits of UBCO, but I can give you my opinion on the strengths of Schulich-whether iBBA or BBA-to help you in making your decision. I believe Schulich is a great environment for self-starters, and whether it's networking events, clubs, or being around like-minded people, if you get involved it will help you a lot in figuring out where you want to be career-wise, and then getting there. The international focus of the iBBA program and the opportunity to go on exchange is also a big draw for Schulich. Based on a bit of quick research it looks like UBCO has a co-op program, while Schulich does not. Like I said, if you’re a self-starter who has strong career goals or is committed in seeking out your career goals, you’ll have no trouble getting great job positions during the summer or after you graduate, and certainly, Schulich has a lot of resources to assist you in that. However, personally, I wish I had considered universities with co-op programs more heading into university, so definitely that is an asset of UBCO. At the end of the day choosing a uni is a very personal decision, and I wish you luck now and in the future!" - Joshua

    Hello
What average did you get in gr 12 that go you into Schulich and how does Schulich exchange registration work?
    Thank you in advance

    • @how2university

Here is Joshua's response: "I had a 95% average in grade 12 but that's definitely on the high end needed to get into Schulich. 88 or 89 would be the low end, with the low 90s and up being ideal. I applied to the Schulich exchange program in November of my 2nd year to go on exchange in my 3rd year. The first part of the exchange registration was submitting a short application which consisted of ranking the countries you are interested in going to, a projected budget for your exchange term as well as explaining criteria used in choosing your top country choices. You also have to submit a short video (approximately 1 minute) speaking about your reasons for going on exchange and choosing the top countries in your ranking. The next step was a group interview where you are asked questions about your rationale for choosing your top country choices and participate in a group activity with other prospective exchange students. A couple of months later the exchange committee lets you know what country you have been assigned to (in my experience most people got their top choice, aside from those who applied to really popular countries, i.e. Milan). Both the application and interview are designed so that the exchange supervisors know that you have put thought into your decision. There are no right answers and creativity and honesty are encouraged!"
