I am from Russia. Ukrainian troops entered the territory of the Kursk region, this is true. This was really unexpected for us. Here in Russia we discussed possible negotiations with Ukraine at the end of this year, we wanted an end. Ukraine also discussed the beginning of negotiations, which lulled our vigilance. After Ukraine's invasion of the Kursk region, none of us wants to negotiate with them! We will continue. Ukraine's temporary media victory in a region where there were practically no our troops, only conscripts on the border. It was easy to attack in this area. But in Donbas, where our troops are, we continue to win, the next cities to fall are Toretsk and Pokrovsk. The lying media will not tell you about this. Also in the Kursk region, the Ukrainians have been stopped, now they are slowly being destroyed. Now in Russia, more and more people are voluntarily joining the military, meanwhile, in Ukraine, they are catching people on the streets and sending them to war. Find on youtube TCK in Ukraine.

Ukraine can't fight Russia symmetrically they learnt this lesson in Bakhmut, that's why sending more men to the east is a bad idea.
Putting more men in tree lines and defensive postions will only cause more casulties considering Russia has a plethora of firepower it uses to flatten a postion before launching a meat assualt.
A fighting retreat is the only sensible approach.
Sending troops were the enemy isn't is sensible as it's engaging in asymmetrical warfare, it's creating a dilmea not a problem for the Russian military either send Profesional troops to guard the border or be prepared to lose it.
If the east was that desperate, these units would of been sent there, so it's clear there is a plan and losing territory in the east is of no big concern.

    • @ra-ge
      @ra-ge Месяц назад +8

@@timverrecchia1654 I don't know your source but the situation is more than desperate for Ukraine. The writing is on the wall and they know it, that's why they're trying to escalate the war, especially before Trump comes to power. This tactically suicidal operation in which their best units are thrown, is out of pure desperation. But this offensive has already bogged down, except some probing attacks here and there and the Ukrainians lack the manpower and equipment to hold the gained ground. And the Russians keep sending more and more new troops without redirecting old one's from the front and they'll keep pushing them all the way to Kharkov. Since Ukraine's best trained troops and big part of the western armour is in Russia they're getting hammered and are loosing more and more ground on the heavily fortified front.

Ukraine was only able to enter Kursk and gain ground quickly because it was lightly guarded. The reality is, those Ukrainian soldiers will not be coming back out. They dont have reinforcements, no more weapon supplies. It's aone way ticket. These ukrainian soldiers were gathered from various areas of the frontlines thinking it will force Russa to move forces too, but it did not. So now Russia holds the whole Donetsk region. The Kursk region is a vast territory, currently Ukraine only gained 3% of that region

But now its will be difficulty because Ukraine all ready take low grounds, and mobile units can go of roads, now its going high grounds where Mobile units can not go of roads and need to use roads if they want to go much north or in Kursk town direction, and they are in danger to fall into ambushes if Russians block roads.

You speak of the electronic warfare aspect of warfare and how crazy it is. I was watching a segment from the Russian frontline the other day. It's was shot in a secret command centre. In the room were three higher-ranking soldiers, two of whom were seated at a long table upon which were laptops and cell phones - various gadgets - and in front of them were two large monitors displaying drone camera footage taken high above a grove of threes in which Ukrainian artillery, infantry and a few vehicles were hiding. What was crazy was that one of these two guys in the command centre had a radio in his hand and was calmly speaking over it to someone on the line who was obviously in command of troops engaging these target in the trees, and it was like watching a guy play one of the highest-stakes voice-operated video games in the world. The guy on the line would radio in and submit what sounded like a request of sorts, and the soldier watching the monitor from the table would tell him to fire. Then the three in the room would watch the monitors for the results. As a non-military guy, I didn't know what I was looking at on the monitors, but then would come the blasts and the black smoke indicating burning fuel. It's a lot easier to see those guns and vehicles when there's smoke rising out of them.
It just blew my mind how detached it all seemed in that room. It really was like watching people play a war game on those monitors, albeit a pretty slow one, though I doubt it was slow for the guys being shelled, or the guys doing the shelling.
I know some people are into this "forever wars" thing. Others just see it as a sort of immutable reality that has to be gotten used to and/or or suffered. Personally, I wish the treaty that was signed before Boris Johnson intervened on the behalf of his sponsors had stuck. It would mean the world to me to see this thing brought to an end in a signed peace before I die, and I'd rather die of old age or at best, rescuing a baby from a burning house, than because of nuclear fallout.
Every Russian citizen I've heard interviewed on the subject seems to feel the same way, that peace would've been so easy, and that this is all just a terrible shame.
This video was cool. The information was presented very responsibly. There were a few bits of footage that gave away the identities of some of the soldiers in that vehicle, which isn't really the way things are supposed to be done, but I don't know who's to shoulder the blame for that. I liked it. Thank you.

First is that this operation was a serious blow inflicting many more casualties than reviving due to the surprise. Second, is distraction of the enemy from their main offensive down in Donbas. Third is bringing the war to the aggressors soil. When the fighting takes place in Ukraine Ukrainian city’s are being destroyed, this is the way to avoid that, and what’s more important to avoid Ukrainian civilian casualties. Maybe it is something else, but those three make most sense.

There was a speculation by ukranians that if their drones got tangled in EW, those positions where poorly defended.
That assumption was particularly true until few days ago, hence the rapid advance.
Russians had their teritorial defence forces and border patrols stationed in the area, but those forces were never even near a combat zone and had no combined warfare experience.
Due to the nature of this war, they couldn't deploy large amounts of regular army to Kursk in one go, they tried and got clapped hard. So now they infiltrate the area with smaller groups and do what he explained in the video.
It's still a mistake by the Russians to let ukraine go this far and they know it, so now we see the damage controll and stabilisation, before the attritional grinding of AFU starts.
Area was evacuated of civilians. They don't particularly care about the occupied land if ukraine keeps sending troops in they will trade some land and retreat to keep own losses low, and meanwhile prepare the lines to destroy anything that enters the area.
I have to give ukranians a medal for bravery and kudos on the fast offensive, but the slower they go forward, they should realise the fact that they need to stabilise the advance and let Russians try to break their defences and/or tacticaly retreat when necessary so they don't lose so much equipment and manpower.

Successful ambushes are common during an exploitation phase when units are running willy nilly to gain undefended spaces and objectives. The Russian Marines just caught a light UA recon force in exploitation phase with its guard down, nothing special, the UA will tactically adjust now that they have determined the Russians MLR.

This is different. There are no fortified lines, and these are mostly light vehicles. The number can be greater when they are just running down roads. I'm sure the average size will dwindle if Russian firepower further improves in the sector.

I think I saw Scott Ritter or other one that I don't remember the name speaking of this. The river isn't that big that would make it difficult to make supplies go across and the pontoon bridges are easy to make and remake because of that, so it slows down, but doesn't negates the supply also, because Russians have less troops than Ukrainians there, the need for supplies is not that high. Meaning that a few trucks can supply a battalion for a while (plus their attacks and defensive perimeters make use of less ammo since they are defending low intensity attacks).
Now, as for Ukraine holding this territory for more than a few weeks everyone doubts that. Especially with the number of hymars, amor vehicles and as batteries that they are losing. Plus the front in other areas is collapsing and fast, so there will be only so much that Ukraine can divert to reinforce the area.

Contractors? Why not distinguish between conscipts and volunteers by calling the volunteers "volunteers". The USA has had an all volunteer force for about four decades. We in the west use the term "contractors" to unsubtly mask the fact that such troops are mercenaries. The Russians don't care about international bans on mercenaries, and openly call their mercenaries, which is what they are.

It's war. Both sides are Biased. I've heard "Russia is running out of Tanks/Soldiers/Ammo/Artillery" every month since 2022. Then also heard "Human wave tactics" and "using shovels as weapons" a number of times too without any evidence.
Take the info given by Russia, Take the info given by the West, and the truth is somewhere in the middle.

Absolutely, and Ukrainian war bloggers tend to be biased towards Ukraine. The goal is to sift through enough data from enough sources to be able to pick out the unique aspects that aren't obviously overblown in one direction or another.

1:15:33 Tesla’s action to clear out the supercharger team seems to be an important part of the process for keeping the team lean and thinking better. It’s brutal for those who are affected but the world is naturally brutal. At least the team has been rebuilt, with some old team members in certain positions, but it’s going to be a new frame of mind team.

I eagerly look forward to Mr Stewart’s videos. But I do believe that, on occasion, he makes the mistake often made by Americans. The west, and by extension what Ukraine is aspiring to do, is to not specifically lie. OpSec is important so if you don’t want to disseminate information for whatever reason, morale, operational etc you have a blackout.
This isn’t a rule that’s always followed but it does mean that we tend to believe reports from our military and any doubts are that we’re not getting the full picture, rather than that we are being lied to.
But as demonstrated by Russian equipment
specifications which are largely aspirational, as opposed to the west’s usual underreporting of capabilities,
Russian culture does not place a premium on the truth. You can never take a statement from them at face value.
Now, I’m not saying there wasn’t a Ukrainian firefight they lost, that they were never ambushed. But there are several reports, supposedly in different areas, showing the same destroyed small column in accompanying images.
And the lack of reporting about drones being a concern to them is highly suspicious. Maybe the Russians have pulled together a working EW system and all of a sudden drones aren’t working. The Ukrainians aren’t going to tell us that one of their primary advantages, the tactics and skills of their drone operators, has been neutralised. So it is possible. But assuming it’s true based on a propaganda report from a Russian milblogger is dangerous. Yes, I know some milbloggers have apparently been going off script and reporting losses. But I’d bet my left testicle that this isn’t a slip up, it isn’t a case of a security flaw. It’s going to be part of ‘the plan’. If it wasn’t, the milbloggers involved would have been shut up very quickly. It’s more likely the Kremlin wants to alarm their population just enough to not object too much to another partial mobilisation. Or at least, they are trying to setup the conditions if they decide they need to.
I don’t go in for conspiracy theories as a rule, but Russians love conspiracies. They love intrigue and ‘tricking’ their adversaries. It’s a hangover from Mongol slave days. This is why they find the Brits more interesting WRT espionage, the Brits are pretty damn sneaky themselves and Russians respect that. Whereas Americans tend to be more open, more honest and rely on firepower, cash and numbers. That’s not a criticism, it works for you. But the Brits and the Russians have a long history of being sneaky with each other, it suits both their national characters well.
I have noticed this charming and highly admirable attitude from a number of US reporters on Ukraine. Jake Broe and Ryan MacBeth for example. Although I can’t quite work out if Ryan is actually playing a game with his very American habit of taking people at their word and at face value.
This is not a criticism by any means. There’s something in that character of optimism that has made the US the world’s greatest power while still, for the most part, remaining democratic.
Consider me a concerned friend who doesn’t like seeing friends get taken by evil bastards who play on their good nature.

planning and actually doing an offensive maneuver is two very different things, war never goes as planned
i just feel sorry for both sides, going in an ambush knowing that surviving especially if vehicle is damaged is almost slim to nun, it is a flat field, field with enemy soldiers, with drones, good optics, armored vehicles, also drones with bombs flying everywhere
