The Minhyeok vs. Jinghyeok thing is just a mistake I think
CookiesTriedToEatMe That, I realize. It could be Minhyeok or Minhyuk but this is not the first time a blatant misspelling has happened. It's an official channel. The moderators ought to be more careful / aware. And being Korean is not an excuse for such a discrepancy. I'm pretty sure they have google. It ain't rocket science.
+CookiesTriedToEatMe When you romanize you can easily misspell almost every vowel and a few consonants but you cannot introduce sounds that are not in the name to begin with. You can't misspell Ryeo Wook to RyeoK Wook bc that 'K' sound is not in his name to begin with. It's even worse with Min Hyuk. They literally made up half of his name (Jin and Min cannot be mistaken with eachother bc they are different names) You can misspell Hyuk to Hyeok bc in fact that's how it should be written to begin with bc in Hyuk's name it is an 'eo' sound, but misspelling Min is not even possible, there are not any more sounds for those letters.
It's acceptable just when they write names like Jungkook - Jeongguk bc in fact that's his original name without it being romanized into an english speaking accent.

Hanui? Jinhyeok? Was KBS drunk or something when they wrote the title for this video --'
silvermist4895 Hanui is the other romanization for the hangul of Hani. Because "i" sounds like "ee." But both are grammatically correct. Jinhyeok on the other hand was omfg. Minhyuk can also be spelled as Minhyeok but I guess the writer wasn't looking at the keyboard while typing so he/she pressed on "j" instead of "m" I guess it was a typo 'cause J is very close to M on keyboards.

and don't get why nobody said something against that gasoline smelling.... because smelling it can turn into a kind of drug and it's really not healthy and it can damage the respiratory tract
thats what i thought too. when i saw who was in this episode i was like "eh? just eunkwang? thats a little random. usually they have two or three people from a group unless they're doing solo stuff." so i was surprised when i saw minhyuk. same with the gasoline smelling. its weird how some peeps like the smell and not feel sick afterwards.
***** hope they will change it soon.... and its pretty weird that the others doesnt seem to see what a big problem smelling something like gasoline is. I mean... it doesnt only cause a health problem but someone has a real big (psychological) problem do this to clam themselves

I can't stand the smell of gasoline, propane or cigarettes they give me migraines and nausea. I was shocked he voluntarily smelled the gas pump!

It's sad that people don't see the last concern as a concern just because they understand what the short form means. If you put yourself in her shoes, you'll probably felt left out and frustrated because there's nothing you could do because you don't understand shit and this will affect their communication and friendship.
i think the first guy really just needs to sit down with a therapist and work through some of his neurosis...he clearly loves his girl and her parents, but i think he doesn't recognize that his sniffing habit is a problem and that he is going to drive a wedge between him and his girl if he keeps it up.
the father in the second concern really didn't realize how old his little girl is, and i think it was hard for him not to see her and her friends as babies. very inappropriate but it looks like he's realizing his mistakes. just because you want to be comfortable doesn't mean you have the right to make another person uncomfortable - you have to compromise.
the last concern, i feel bad for the girl because she seems to feel left out of her friends fun or serious conversations, and it probably makes her feel extremely stupid when she doesn't understand, but it looks like her friends would be willing to stop their shortened speech because they care for her.
ultimately i think that last weeks concern was still worse than any of these three...

I don't know why nobody has said it but that was the saddest thing to hear, as a woman, that your man got nauseated while making love to you. It's like he all up in it and does it smell that bad for you to gag? I would have cried and left the house. She even went to the OBGYN and asked if she had some infection or weird smell and then told it on national tv....like damn girl you strong. Hygiene is def one girl's biggest concern. Shit can get serious if you aint smelling right down there. Smh he needs to see a psychiatrist. Not to heavy of a case...just train him out of the habit.

Yes, but one is more correct than the other. Hani is definitely how it's pronounced when forced to use romanization, whereas Hanui is definitely not.

Irrelevant. There is no Hangul character or combination in 하니 that would call for anything other than the "i". Certainly not a silent "u". 하늬 would translate to "Hanui" though (and does). I suppose if KBS is using the fact that it's a proper noun to use some loose translating that doesn't make sense otherwise, then fine. Otherwise it's quite clearly a mistake (although no big deal).
This is just a spelling mistake. You can see spelling mistakes in almost every KBS uploaded video either in title or subs.
Ok that last concern boosted my self esteem, I want to learn korean but for the last three years I've only learned from dramas and music which isn't great but while I couldn't understand the talk, I understood the text messages without subs as I know the alphabet, the reason I understand this concern is because I think it's laziness not convience, I experience the same thing with English, sometimes it is convenient like texting but not for everything, because they are so lazy it's annoying
i wouldn't be too hard on them. In every language people in there teens to early 20's do something to "mess up" the way people speak. In korea they shorten words but in english we make up a pointless amount of slang words that are cool for about 10 secs till someone makes up a new word. it's just life.
and have you tried learning korean with "talk to me in korean".. or TTMIK its really fun...

I really felt her concern on the last one. Just because I'm a language person and hate it when people do that. Destroying a language to make it more convenient for yourself. It's almost like back a long time ago when I use to type in text slang.

I know, understand, and am thankful for their work. However having a lot of work is not an excuse for doing so much mistakes, especially when you're a professional. Also they never made such mistakes before (or i didn't notice), it just happened recently. I'm not complaining, i'm just stating a fact. I know that mistakes happen, they're humans after all, it's perfectly fine.

I think the problem with most of these concerns is that the other party never thinks about the one who's worried. I mean, I would be okay with my friends shortening words, but if I don't understand, they should just explain it kindly, not tease me. And maybe it's a Korean cultural kind of thing, but they don't really seem to know the difference between public and private life xD Say, for the concern about the dad always being in his underwear even when the daugher's friends are over...that's crossing the line. Also, people seem to be really nosy and intrude on people's lives. For example, there was a concern about a couple who had a 21 year age gap and people were surprised (I would be too, but it's not something you ask them about or yell at them about). People were upfront about disrespecting the couple. I hope more people will take that into consideration :/

About the first concern, I think coming to Hello Counselor is not the solution. Clearly he was traumatized and so he is living in the past. This will only get worst. He kept on sniffing through out the whole recording. I might sound ignorant but I believe that people should never try to change their significant other. She loves him for who he is, right???? Then she should just accept his flaws. But I think this flaw of his is not something he chose to do. I think he needs to go to a real Counselor and talk about what happened in the past. No one's perfect. By the way I can't believe she won!!!!
I also believe that you shouldnt try to change the person you love but i think the problem is more that he doesnt know what to say at the proper times... I mean he doesnt have to mention that another women smells good or complain about a fish smell when the girlfriend wants one kiss. Lol what a weird guy though... ^.^'
