I always thought this was an exaggeration but then I saw the real Kathie Lee Gifford and how offended she was when she saw this sketch.
Kristen Wiig is amazing!!!

He was good playing Regis, about as good as Darrel Hammond

One of the best skits. Yes, KLG is REALLY like that. Kristen Wiig has the mannerisms down perfectly and the gestures etc. And KLG was always talking about Frank or saying things like, “Yesterday while sitting by the fire in my sunroom at my waterfront home in Greenwich Connecticut, I was mesmerized by all the sailboats on the water and reflecting on how fortunate i am.” YES, we KNOW, KLG!

I know this is a great send-up of Kathie Lee, but because it's so accurate, it's really hard to watch. No amount of money should have induced Hoda to be her foil. Microaggressions are soul-killing.

Yup. She's Kathie Lee to perfection! Always the undertone of put-downs and self-promotion. Bet she's the worst neighbor in the universe. And is sooooo jealous of Hoda, being smart, somewhat eloquent, and a trained professional. In the end, Hoda won. She got the golden life. And Kathie Lee is bitter and still the Queen of Narcissism and Humorlessness.

I think the role was a little cursed when you think about it
And definitely the worst one. I love both Jenny and Michaela. Jenny is funnier as a victim, but Michaela is funnier as a more mature Hoda and makes it more absurd. Nasim is just dull as Hoda.
*This is SO bizarre, hopefully someone can help. After extensive searching, I cannot find the skit where [Wiig as] KLG calls Kelly Ripa an irritating bird. I found the transcript, which reminded me that it was the Feb 5, 2011 episode, when Dana Carvey hosted. I found a brief written mention on The Today Show’s website, but the link with the clip is defunct/has been removed. I even found the full SNL episode on NBC’s website, but that particular skit has oddly been removed⁉️*
Is this because “KLG” requested that a hunter come _”shoot”_ “the irritating bird” (Ripa), or is there some other reason it’s been scrubbed from the internet?
