What works best for me is using hot water to shrink the tube, evenly. I put fresh water in mug, and then place it in the microwave for a couple of minutes, to heat the water. Place the assist hook with the shrink tube on it, into the hot water for 30 seconds. The process works better than a hair dryer, flame or heat gun.

Can’t you just used 200lb braid instead of Hollow Core line?
Have you tried using 200lb braid? How does it work?
I use 340lb metal core assist cord. It works great for large tuna and toothy critters.
