mechanical engineering?? Damn can't believe people went to school and university for this. I understand the complexity and the complications it can be! But wow! Its just eye opening. A lot of jobs are similar to this type, especially manufacturing, but everyone serves something or want to work for someone/company. Its just WOW. Good luck!
Nice...I worked at Libbey-Owens-Ford Glass Co in the mid 90s where we produced windshield, sidelight and backlights for Toyota and GM. It's a cool process from producing sheet glass, to cutting, tempering, sanding and laminating processes. I'm thinking "O-I" is Owens Illinois out of Toledo, OH.
All glass containers manufactured in New Zealand are more than 50 % recycled glass. Not just beverage, but also jars. He mentioned jars, if only once. That is New Zealand's only glass manufacturer, as of the time of this upload in 2013. Who said recycling is no good ? Of course there may be in the meantime imports of glass container products into New Zealand, but nevertheless, that facility is said to be operating 24 / 7.
My deduction is that must be Auckland. Other sources say so. The plant in this video is currently up for sale. O-I in Australia and New Zealand are both on the market. The only big deal about that is that the parent wants to sell it. It is up to 67 % use of cullet in this plant as of being put on the market. That line that it requires sand, soda ash, and limestone is all bullshit. Not bullshit in the sense that those are the necessary ingredients, but I heard on another video that 90 % of it could be cullet, and thus probably even more than that, leading one to conclude that cullet has all those necessary ingredients.
Nice to see details of the moulds with cooling holes, invented by my Dad Tom when he worked for Emhart in Doncaster UK.
We’ve never called it mopping lol. Swabbing!

Cullet is just broken glass, therefore it does already have all of the required ingredients.
Yes, cullet is just recycled glass. Colors must match to the final product.
