I’ve always been a fan of your games and genuinely appreciate the effort the devs put into this title. I do hope that the concerns raised by the community will be addressed soon, was looking forward to this.
Same here. I was bummed to find out mods won’t be using Steam Workshop.
its not the end of the world its still one click and its added to the game and its really helpfull for people who'd rather play it on other platoforms

@@Disnean I'm on a water-cooled 3090ti and fully expecting performance to tank once I hit 5-10k population.
Their system seems promising though. I recommend reading their dev diary about it. It'll automatically update mods, let you go back to older versions of mods, etc. Idk, i'll give it a shot for sure.

The review have been out for a while, and like the previous person said, mixed, middling, and a lt of disappointment with the overall state of the game at release.
@@laughingleopard5226 I think they mean the reviews on steam rather than from the press. Will be interesting to see how bad they are given that most people don't have a NASA PC.

I have a ryzen 9, 3080i and I thought my PC would be good to go running CS2, from the recent posts and reviewers videos, I'm going to hold off until there's be a performance update before purchasing I think. I've been stung several times in recent years buying games that just aren't ready for showtime.
I like how they use real in game footage in promotional videos
and it only required 2 4090 to do it

I still don't get why taxing based on education level. It seems more than a choice because of how the simulation works instead of looking for realism (or common sense. Well educated not very paid people is a very real thing).

@crispers702 Not exactly in all places, and besides that, you can not establish that a well-educated person will be a rich person. It's pretty common to have, in real life, rich people with low education and poor people well educated.

I think paradox interactive has done a great job overall, and i expect that there will be some city maps with a challenging geographic condition (often with land scarcity ex. like hong kong) where those situations can challenge players to create a functioning city on that condition... it will be fun xixi

Excellent video. Probably won't be able to play CS2 on my 1080Ti but i got the game because at some point in the future i will upgrade and i will have it and the DLC it comes with for my new computer.

I've got a 3080 and frankly I'll have it running 45 fps first day because I know how a game engine works and I don't give a toss how my city looks while they optimise the back end.

No it isn't. In another life I wrote simulations for a living and they are hard as hell to get running in real time. If they have genuinely gotten a near full simulation of a city at 40fps and there's still room to optimise then frankly they've done well. People are being whiny and stupid because they haven't the faintest idea of what 'optimisation' means in the context of a game that is nothing but influence maps and a ton of entities either subsampling a distribution or being sampled to produce the maps.
Either way people would be whining, so it hardly matters. I'll take the simulation fidelity and ignore all the distracting glittering lights I barely want to see in my city anyway.
@@ralalbatross Ok but not everyone wants their game to look like crap nor do we want it to be inaccessible to most people. Lots of people do not have the privilege to own a 3080 or anything close to a 3080 so instead of calling people whiny and stupid how about you show some empathy to the concerns of the community...
@@ralalbatross As a person who claims to have written simulations then you know full well that this game is not a simulation and shouldn't be treated as such. It is a sandbox with some arbitrary rules to keep you from getting too creative.

as someone who preordered I REALLY hope you improve optimisation. I have 3060ti with 32 gigs of ram and ssd and yet I am nervous
i was so excited for this game but the lack positivity about the optimization is scaring me😭
I have a i5-12600k, 32g ddr4 ram, nvme 2 tb ssd, and a rtx 4070. I think you should be fine in lower graphical settings and resolution. That is until they optimize the game and then you can bump everything up with updates to the game and your graphics drivers.
the game is better optimized then CS1. The 'problem' here is that the game simulates ALOT og things... and that demands alot, besides the graphics demand...
Ull probably be fine to run on midle to high settings....
but the majority off people wont be able to play even at minimum.... game looks crap as shi ty on low
@@mateusaraujo9688 Don't spread misinformation if don't know what you're talking about. They've said multiple times that they haven't time to focus on **specifically optimisation**. The amount of things being simulated is also a whole other thing. If you look at videos, even with an empty field the game doesn't run well.
ssd, rx580, pentium g4560 ( 2/4(!) ) and 16gb ram. Im not insane, i swear.

Can we get a sub-district tool, in Infrastructurist’s lastest video he made a new rural farm area with some little hamlets around it, he said that he’d like to be able to make the entire farm area then each hamlet within the same district.

I've been excited for this game for a good while now but after seeing the performance reviews, I'm worried now. I'm gonna try it anyway since it's on game pass but I hope optimization is you guy's FIRST priority because it's not looking good.

The forestry that you put down here uses the trees that are currently in place in the zone, do I need to do any ongoing maintenance or will new ones be planted automatically or should I keep periodically planting new trees please ?
That's a great question.
If you look at 2:27 you see the forestry areas in a more brownish colour. And you also see, he plants new trees with his brush, but not in the brownish areas (no small trees there, even after using the brush)! So you are not able to plant trees manually in forestry areas (some influencers already confirmed that). So the forestry area makes it all by themselves. (You are able to plant trees in the area, before you build the forestry industry building, but as soon as the area is set, it is off limits for you). Hope that helps.

Does placing generic industry conform to specialized industries when placed next to each other? For example is generic industries placed next to specialized forest, does the generic start to produce wood related products??
yes
It tries to, but it also depends for example on building size. So in big generic buildings (6 tiles deep) there is more likely to be textile industry and in smaller buildings is maybe more likely food industry. But c:s2 tries to conform. A saw another RUclips video where the RUclipsr tried for 5 minutes to get the right buildings and had a hard time. He also lowered taxes. But that will be things that will be patched I hope and get better over time.
That's great! it sure would be nice if anything less than a NASA super computer could run your game. Guess i'll wait a few years for you to get your ish together and fix it.

This just shows there is little pursuit in getting a game at launch, and instead letting it find it's stride. The game will still be there in a few months if you still wanna scratch that city building itch.

Speed bumps, u turn and divider should be included for road construction
Speed Bumps are a city policy now to help reduce speed within your assigned district. And I’m pretty sure they have dividers as well. Only thing I don’t think they have is a U-Turn sign.
What's the point of 4k60fps video if even 4090 isnt capable to run this game in 4k with steady 40fps?

Will there be a set of smaller public buildings? An European styled village won't need a huge a$$ American looking school with enough parking spots for the whole village's population.

Can't say I have the same level of hype as i've had before. The move away from the steam workshop really scares me honestly... how much will paradox close down just out of normal publisher fear? How in depth are the mods allowed to be? Do the mods _have_ to be console compatible?
Can you explain more about “move away from steam workshop”? Are they not doing mods anymore from workshops? Are they leaving steam in general?
@@kaila9224 It'll still be buyable on steam. But they have a faq section on mods on their website saying they won't be on steam workshop, but on paradox's site(/launcher?)
They will cater to console players and make the game so basic compared to cs1 on steam. I simply won’t play without TMPE and move it. Though im so spoiled with my mods in cs1 i really see no reason to play cs2 without them
If you had done any research, the new modding platform was created so that consoles can get their own mods. While pc will have full modding capabilities. They will now just be on Paradox Mods. Seems pretty fair. Especially now that the game was delayed for consoles.

I do believe that you're assuming too though. As there's only a CS1 section, with the windows filter being completely empty. Yes, they _can_ allow full script mods, but they can also just not. I just want to see it before I buy it

This video is hilarious, had I not already been put off buying the game with all the reviews regarding performance. Seeing this video, I surely have now, they tried to barely move the camera and when they did it was the slowest pan ever, yet plenty of FPS drops still occurred. Glad the company respects the players based enough to continue to release a half cooked game.
It is almost like buying a colour TV to find out its actually black and white, but "they may add colour in several months".
With the T.V. analogy you could say that they would sell you each colour as a separate DLC for the next three years.

@@Tiogar60 Why should i fork up 70$ for a game lacking majority of all the features in CS1 with poor performance? Yeah i have CS1 and have all the DLCs jailbroken because no one is gonna spend 500$ for DLCS. With a new title like this we should've gotten more then a buggy face lift with no mod support. We don't even have props.

Looks great but unfortunately had to refund my pre order from Steam. The performance issues and needing a rig only 7% gamers have has put me off until optimisation takes place. Hope it won’t be long until I can play.

According to city planner plays, you should be able to play the game on low settings, not extra low thankfully.

Damn y’all are crazy with these specs, 3060?! Not many people can afford to buy a $1000+ gpu just to play a $50 game, that’s insanity, I will hold off and wait for a sale maybe in 2-3 years when they have fixed this, will also be refunding my game once I see how bad the performance is for myself, also 60gb is a huge jump for space but I won’t complain about that.
You can pick up a 1080 Ti for 200 dollars used and it performs about the same as the 3060 Ti.
@@DeadlyDan Bro not everyone is made of money, I am a high schooler(10th) and painstakingly saved up a ton of money, also i heard from other comments that the game is still trash with a 1060ti(other specs could play a role into this) but relatively the same, also recommended 3080 is insanity.

Can you make the default game play without restrictive tile system and arbitrary xp system that can be cheesed by spamming roundabouts? Let us build freely without arbitrary restrictions that promote bad city design. Otherwise you will continue to have casual players who can’t get past 5 tiles without traffic issues and the city falling into pieces
Going to wait a few months for it be optimized to play on lower settings. Also can’t wait to tax poor people the most - very realistic!
