There’s a small tab on the male side(/nearest the bike) that must be pushed down to disconnect.

Yes it will both the headlight and taillight are the same on both bikes.

Does it fit on the new thruxton 1200 or thruxton R?

I'm not 100% sure but if you call your local triumph dealer they can cross reference headlight part numbers between the scrambler and thruxton. If the numbers match then this part will fit. It should manufacturers like to cut cost by sharing parts between models.
