These creators made the hottest, most intellectual, most morally justified character in the game and said, this one's for the gays. It's just... ✨✨immaculate✨✨
I can't believe this game was made primarily by 3 people, this is studio quality shit, like the amount of effort and dedication that must've went into this just wow
It looks like they've done a great job adapting it from the mod. I haven't seen tons of this version and it was excellent as a mod but so far this setting is a great fit and the smaller changes I've noticed in familiar parts of the story have been done well too. What I've seen so far is really impressive.
Gods it took me like a full minute to understand! I was thinking that he hasn't seen a city/village without sin because the population *increased at all!*
I really enjoyed the insights Julia shared about architecture and history! Also its super helpful to have the stream split into intro, stream etc! I like it a lot, thank you!
I like Julia’s fact about the decorative squares cut in the stone being to reduce weight to make the structure more stable. I never considered that and I’m gonna be thinking about it all day.
The accent at 1:49:48 definitely is German. Am German myself and I have heard enough Germans speak bad English to recognize it. So many details that sound completely different to my ears when hearing a French or Belgian speak English.
1:11:37 not to be weird but the look jacob has while watching julia for a sec here just fills my heart 🥺 makes me miss watching my girlfriend get overly invested in a thing too as always wishing yall every happiness 💖
The other day I was driving alone, Rob Zombie came on Pandora, and I sang the whole song saying only the word “yeah” because he likes that word and already uses it profusely.
I felt my soul leave my body when the game referenced the covid pandemic Edit: upon watching further I see the theme. Gotcha, relevant is kinda the point
Jacob and Julia, Can we PLEASE get a drawing/conceptualization of Debba in a Drawfee episode or equivalent?!?! "Debba--Deep Dungeon Diver from the Deep South"
“A dead-end job with an endless commute.” “My name is.. Karen.” My god, my Greek mythology-obsessed ass feels like I’ve figured out who this person is immediately… We’ll see if I’m right, I guess!
Aw dang, I played the Skyrim mod and it was great! It's really cool to see it become a full game on its own, good for them. Also Julia dropping that Lain reference made my day.
I was looking at Haitian Lwa while watching this and came across one I've never heard of before called Captain Debas and it really could _not_ have been more perfect timing.
It's always hard to change styles but no matter what Jacob is a dapper man and i hope he grows to feel more comfortable with his new look because he looks great 😊 Sometimes i feel dysphoric when i have to cut my hair but yeah whenever you have self doubts just tell yourself "hey someone else has this thing and they look attractive so that means i can look attractive with this thing as well"
Vergil really said: Im handsome, cultured, smart, respectful and queer all in the same conversation and thats freaking goals right there. if you jump into the past for someone it better be worth it, and here?, hell yes it is
SPOILERS . . . . In the Very First Stream, Jacob and Julia guessed that Sentius was to blame for his daughter's disappearance and that they're dead and in purgatory... a gamer's intuition mustn't be underestimated
2:00:00 "That's not how that works"... it is actually! Fat is less dense than water and will help you float (conversely muscle is denser and will make you sink), so you
loving the fact that the roman people depicted as statues are fairly diverse - we think of Rome as the quintessential White Western empire but it actually had a lot of diversity and that's nice to see in modern depictions
I know Jacob and Julia probably won’t see this, but the more body fat a person had, usually the more easily they’ll float. That’s what Georgius was saying. Also about the Bible and homosexuality, I did some light digging and found that Julia is pretty much right. The modern understanding of “sin to be gay” came around 1946. HOWEVER, the Bible does have evidence for speaking ill of men having sex with men prior to that, but the understanding is more like… selling sex and acts of violence. Not that it should even matter… why do we insist on letting a “2000 year old” book dictate our conversations…. Sigh
Maybe I’m projecting but I feel like people are worried about shorter hair because of their hairlines but as someone who started balding when I was seventeen, ten years ago, Jacob looks great and he has a square head shape which can give someone a feeling of a receding hairline. He looks really good with this haircut, I liked the old one but the shorter one combined with his beard frames his features very well. Julia is a queen.
I have a very high forehead and it looks ridiculous when I tie my hair back. Having very short hair or shaving my head seems to solve that issue kinda.
the thing i'm curious about is if, according this god, suicide isn't a sin, then why did al turn to gold? is it because of reasons? it's still strange, though… al committed suicide in order to avoid an endless fate of trying to fix the past. but ulpius technically committed suicide to get out of debt. back then, wouldn't ulpius's reasons be seen as far more "sinful"? though maybe al's suicide didn't turn him to gold. maybe he committed suicide in the past and then somebody committed a sin? but do dead bodies turn to gold as well?
It seems like assuming the hanged man is Al is a big leap. Surely he wasn’t the first post Roman person to discover this lost city. I mean, obviously it is Al, but Debba going “oh! Old man must be Al” when the person by the river didn’t say “you’re looking for an old dude with a big beard” is a big assumption.
The Golden Rule: Thou shalt not kill, hurt, steal or be a general nuisance. Galerius: So, I've installed these ropes and here's the handle. I... Actually don't know if it's safe. Seems like the perfect crime to me =_=
This game has a crazy amount of religious concepts obviously, but i have to talk about them. First, there's this "Golden Rule": Many will suffer for the sins of the one. This is the reversal of the sacrifice of God in Christianity, one (Jesus) died for the sins of all mankind. It's like a satanic reversal, this strange place. And they call it "the Golden Rule" as a further mockery of Christianity; we all know the golden rule as "treat others as you want to be treated", which is deeply rooted in Christianity. Jesus is quoted in one of the gospels as saying the most important commandments are first, worship God only, then love your neighbor as yourself. Then, there's the fact that the Magistrate is sacrificing himself to bring the PC here, sacrificing one to serve the many in a Christ-like way as well. Despite this, his own people want him out of office anyway. The blatant transgressions against God in this strange city make me think this is some sort of hell, but i cant say for certain. I am very excited to watch this playthrough though, these themes and ideas seem to be handled pretty well so far.
It is how it works actually, if the extra weight you're carrying is fat and not muscle. Fat tends to be buoyant. That's why my stepfather didn't really have to do anything to stay afloat in the pool, but little stick that I was as a child, I struggled to keep my chin above water. Luckily I was a good swimmer.
As a Dutchman, I feel offended. /s ;P It's a German imitation of a Dutch accent I'm pretty sure. The Batavii were a Germanic tribe in the Netherlands. Noviomagus, Nimwegen or Nijmegen is a Dutch city. I really like the choice of the game to make Vergil "Dutch", but I'm not sure if it was the right choice for the VA lol
I think a recreation of an accent from millennia ago is a bit ironic of an issue to have fault with. There were no German, Dutch, or French accents yet, so most of these dialects are totally fictional.
So, Vergil's talking about taking out Sentinus, right? Because he talks about how the rule seems inherently flawed and human, and usurping power and the like? It seems like the subtext of that is "This rule's bullshit because I saw XYZ and that's 'not a sin' so it's obvs Setinus just trying to intimidate us, we should revolt." Maybe it's just me idk.

Nothing but the finest content warnings from the Almighty Khaztaroth.
Thanks to Draz for always giving me timestamps for me to put everywhere

I gather from the third warning that the talk in the 2nd warning doesn't go that well
Ohhh my god, I can't believe I missed you guys playing this! I'm the VA for Sentia, thanks for calling me an asshole - she deserves it
You absolutely killed it with the voice acting!
You are a amazing omg. Killer voice acting cuz not everyone can make someone sound this believably assholish 💗
You were excellent!
Your performance was excellent 😍😍😍😍
Also "don't mind me I just live here" absolutely unprovoked is one of the best lines in the game
"you can't kill me, I don't remember how to die" - Jacob Andrews, 2021
Jacob stealing immediately after being explained the golden rule is absolutely chaotic energy
I didn’t know anything about this game, so having the golden rule broken so early really helped me. “Oh ok, THIS is the game.”
"Be gay, dethrone god" is my approach to most video games.
It's my approach to life
Virgil just needs an iced coffee in hand and him walking like he needs to be somewhere would make sense bwhahahaha
As someone who's played Devil Survior. Accurate.
Be gay dethrone god is the average Saturday night if you're with the right crowds
Short hair definitely feels weird at first, but don’t worry, it grows on you
Dad?
*long exasperated sigh*
Snickering
*GOOD JOKE*
GOOD JOKE

YES
Virgil is my role model
those are the motherfucking real allies right there goddamn
hell yeah, my chosen name is Virgil 😎😎
@@virgil2461 That is a dopeass name. Chosen names are so cool. (Yes, I think my own are too.) Hey Virgil!
obsessed with vergil he meets a new person and instantly starts infodumping
finally some good representation
He may have been inspired by Dante's Inferno's Vergil: He met Dante at Hell's entrance and explained it all while guiding him along the Nine Circles.
"You can't kill me, I don't remember how to die" would actually be a great concept for a D&D one-shot.
It's almost "Planescape: Torment"!
I can't believe this game was made primarily by 3 people, this is studio quality shit, like the amount of effort and dedication that must've went into this just wow
Idk why but earrings make Jacob like 200% prettier
He's already pretty but damn, goals honestly
I remember when this was a skyrim mod, I had no clue it had become its own separate game, it's so cool!
It looks like they've done a great job adapting it from the mod.
I haven't seen tons of this version and it was excellent as a mod but so far this setting is a great fit and the smaller changes I've noticed in familiar parts of the story have been done well too.
What I've seen so far is really impressive.
I immediately had to think of that mod! Still one of the best mods out there!
I still can't get over Julia taking pictures of Joy and showing them to Jacob it's too cute
I hate to break it to Sentius, but he hasn’t seen a city without sin. The population could quadruple and it would still be considered a hamlet.
Gods it took me like a full minute to understand! I was thinking that he hasn't seen a city/village without sin because the population *increased at all!*

thank you Mr.Keef.
@@thewormplaguedoctor1833 you are welcome my friend

Blessed by BOTH Producers at once!
I like Julia’s fact about the decorative squares cut in the stone being to reduce weight to make the structure more stable. I never considered that and I’m gonna be thinking about it all day.
Omg, I was scrolling through the comments and read this, and then Jacob panned up and Julia gave the fact. Perfect timing!
The first 30~ seconds of this video capture the essence of Jacob and Julia so well, and I love it.

It's nice to see what this mod was able to become when it was no longer shackled by Skyrim's awful built-in faces and lighting, haha
