I can't imagine why I would ever need to do this but thanks for taking the time to concisely explain the process. (I always like to know the purpose and potential of a socket on any piece of hardware...)
Thank you! I've tried a couple of times before, and failed. Just one setting in the chain can create complete failure, and troubleshooting was a nightmare. Now I know how to do it your way!
Excellent overview! I had tried several things in the past and had no luck. Your video really put the steps and processes together well, and everything went smoothly on my end. Thank you very much!!
I guess you can skip the VLC step and add a "media source" directly into OBS. Choose "url" in the media source instead of "local file" and insert the UDP/RTP address just like you would in VLC. Would also be good to add a DHCP reservation in your router for the computer, so you don't have to change that all the time in the camera in case you shut down your computer and it gets assigned a new IP-address.
In addition to this video, I just did a test where I hardwired both my laptop and camera to my internet router, set the LAN IP on the FS5 to "auto" and it connected great and the signal didn't drop. I then did a test with the camera on wifi with my laptop still hardwired and it worked pretty well until I was about 30 feet away from the router, then it dropped.

I have the same issue. When I connect through WI-FI it works just fine (lagging off course, but works) When I tried the LAN I could not manage to have neither VLC nor OBS recognize my camera signal. HELP!!

Hi Sir Alister Chapman, your content is always very relevant, thank you very much for this tutorial. It will be interesting to see if it is possible to use the Sony F5 to stream online. Put VLC stream output to 1500ms - It defaults to 0 :) That will help with lag
