Chris you did a very good job and I love how descriptive you are. I had some question about this soundbar and you were able to answer them all. Your technical prowess and straight forward answers are always valued! Keep doing the great work!
Underrated feature of Sony soundbars is the pass through feature. For people who bought older $2500+ tvs or projectors that don't have Dolby atmos it's very easy to use a firestick or Playstation/Xbox to access Dolby unlike sonos or bose
Right now if you buy a Sony Bravia TV, you can add on the A5000 for just $600 and the SW3 sub for an additional $200. That combined price of $800 was tempting enough for me to pick it up for a try from B B.
Since I have a small living room I brought this exact system and just added the Sa-RS5 a few days ago. The sound definitely comes alive with the surrounds and the 360 spatial tone mapping does the trick for multi channel movies. I have an A80j Sony tv as well and I’m testing it as a center channel, not convinced yet I’m gonna keep using that feature.
Just took the plunge as my wife want a cleaner setup than the AV receiver setup (HT-A6000 w/ SW-5 Sub renewed combo and new SA-RS5's). Excited! Family room is 10' x 24'.
Using the tv center is a mixed bag, the sound coming directly from the tv is nice when watching regular shows but with multi channel Atmos or DTS using the sound bar center is definitely better since so much is coming from the center especially action movies
@@MrTrentonMakes interesting, I’m planning on picking up the bar soon. What size is your a80? I have the 77” so I’m thinking/hoping the larger speakers will perform well!

Another awesome video and honest review. Honestly I feel you and two other av channels I can actually trust. Been following you since LG B9 first came out and found your channel.
Chris, since the rear speakers are upfiring, why isn't this soundbar system marketed as a 5.1.4 with this option. Or do you just get duplicated sounds coming from the front and rear upfiring speakers.
Ok, question. Hopefully you can help me out. I want the immersive /theatre experience and idk which option I should go with to get the bang for my buck, all 3 have pros and cons. • Sony 5000 soundbar + SW3 Sub + upward firing speakers • JBL 9.1 soundbar with included sub and detachable upward firing speakers [or] • Sonos ARC, sub, and One SL (do not offer upward firing speaker)
wow they are nice! Love your reviews and I have gotten some of the speakers and a short throw movie projector and screen because of watching your videos. I love the big movie sound and my home movie theater is just that! keep up the great videos!
great video on explaining. thx for ahring. i have a question. in your opinion. is it worth connecting the s center audio cable. i have an hta 5000 sound bat and bravia 77 in a80k. it seems like the cable on helps if you use low volume in roome because it make venter a little more louder. but too loud if your volume is up. without the center cable when volume is up high it seems to fill perfect. what do you think??
If your looking to build a basic 5.1.2 home theater it can cost less than $1900 with avr & 1 sub. A Jamo or 2020 klipsch set up works fine for non-audiophiles. No phantom speaker can EVER REPLACE A physical present speaker
I agree definitely should have came with the subwoofer for the price. The one I’m having issues with is the volume I hive to have it up to 50 to 60 volume to really to get a quality sound. Do you have to crank you up like that as well ?
I have the A7000 they sound very good but why I only get Dolby Atmos 48KHz? Some people says that’s the highest you can have. So it’s not really worth for a $1500..
Hi Chris, Shall I buy Sony HT-A3000 along with two rear speaker or Sony HT-A5000 only. Soundbar cabinet what I have does not have much space for upwards firing speakers, soundbar will slide inside the cabinet, this is the reason I am hesitant to buy Sony HT-A5000, since its upward speakers will inside the cabinet ?
What if you got this for like 350 dollars to upgrade from an old Samsung Airtrack with wireless subwoofer? Got a deal from Best Buy for the out of box display for a discount and they couldnt find the remote to it so they took off even more to get it down to 350. I just thought they were trying to sell me something and they did lol
I still cant get over if the sound of speach comes from below the screen rather than from the middle of it. So far only my 2.1 system acheive this. For a projector you could have the center channel behind the screen if it is made for such a setup. But i am really happy with my 2.1 system over the 5.1 I used before.
@@mauricioyoung6668 I also just recently learned why you have a centre speaker and why I dont miss it. If you are more than 1 person watching a movie, at least 1 person will not sit in the optimal listening position for stereo sound, so the only way of getting dialogue from the centre in that case is a centre speaker. Since I always watch alone, I always sit in the centre so I never lack a centre speaker.
Interesting review, but unlike the video description and title, the video impression is that you're not really testing the soundbar alone, but rather testing the soundbar WITH the sub and the surround speakers. So despite what you say in the final thoughts, the soundbar alone can't be more immersive and do a better job of filling your room with sound than your current setup. 🤔
I listened to it both with and without the sub. It’s still immersive without the sub but I personally ally HAVE to have a sub and even with the sub it lacks low end
@@ChrisMajestic Thanks for the clarification. I've not yet found a soundbar (alone) that is in any way immersive, but I bet those Atmos up-firing speakers are adding a lot of depth.
@@ChrisMajestic Oh, sure, I would expect nothing less. But that's not the soundbar alone. Those are a $600 add-ons, specifically designed to make the sound immersive. :)

i could hardly any any sound from the rear speakers. it was like they weren't even on! i played around with the configuration settings and got a bit more to at least make it noticeable at times. But overall, i was underwhelmed with these speakers. During the demo test they were loud but during actual use watching a dolby atmos movie, i could hardly hear anything. Also, during the 360 Reality Audio test they sounded great, but that's just for music. I don't use my TV for music. I do realize most movies do have some music but even so i wasn't impressed when it worked during that time.
