Heather, when you checked for babies, you looked like a small girl finding presents under the Christmas tree. That was so lovely😍😍
Awe I love that! Thank you!
Just wanted to say thank you for all your hard work putting these videos together!! You have helped me and continue to help with managing/caring for my goats ❤️
You bet! I appreciate you!!
Good Morning. I can't wait to see all the cute babies when they are born.
I can’t wait to see Tori’s baby!
I love it that you know your animals so well. That's unusual anymore.
Your excitement is contagious! And I love how much you love your goats. I do, too, by extension. ❤
Thank you so much!!
Goat videos are my very fav!! Lovely ladies, cant hardly wait! Course none can cast a shadow on my Margie!! 💜👍💜 Aunt Beth
I really want a margie x feral daughter this fall!
Very interesting, thank you for showing us your goats. I can't wait for the babies
Waddles are so cute! Some of the goats from my childhood had them. Feb 23 is my first possible day for kidding in my ND goats. 🩵Liz
Eeep so 5 weeks for you!
I am so excited to see all the mini lamancha babies! 😍
ME too! ♥
So exciting!! We start kidding Feb 3, I have registered show line and heavy milk Nigerians, but this year I have 2 mini Nubians my friend gave me! Lamanchas are very rare here but I absolutely adore them too, elf ears are ADORABLE!! I’m super excited to see Elsa’s kids especially 🎉
I also don’t do CD&T, I don’t want to lose any kids ofc but I also agree with preventative management of the herd and proliferating the healthiest hardiest animals!
So exciting and so happy for you! Almost time! So proud of you and how well you care for your animals! Good examples and great explanations! Blessings Kiddo! 🌿💚🙏💕👵
Thank you so much!! I can't wait for these babies!!
ahhhhhh im so super excited they all are looking absolutely stunning! so eager to see what feral and mooch produce!! the girls are looking fabulous and those first freshen udders are coming in sooo nicely
Yes I can't wait!! I can already see herd transformation happening ♥️
100% with you on the CDT thing.
My kidding season starts with 2 does March. Then hopefully 3 in October 🤞
Yay! So exciting!!
I remember the video where you first got Tori and you were so excited!! It’s so nice to see you getting to enjoy her baby journey! I always watch for your comments on other goat owners birthing videos(most recently Amy’s from Misty Dawn farm🥰).
Yours are SOOO good though! They’re very educational and someday I plan to implement the info for my own herd when the Lord blesses us with a farm! God bless you, Heather!
I have been loving Amy's channel lately! ♥
Dear Heather I love watching your videos. When you talk it's so natural and soft voiced and I love that about you. When your husband talks to you it's the same way. You guys have loving hearts and your truly wonderful people inside and out . Your all natural in everything you do. I wish I could meet yous and have a good conversation with yous. Meet your children and all your fun babies too. Keep up the good work sweetheart. Your a wonderfull provider from raising your animals to the garden and preparing the food for the table. Tell your husband and children I said hi and I wish yous all my very best.
So exciting!!! You are going to be quite busy!! Best wishes for easy deliveries and strong, healthy babies! Prayers that the weather is mild too! Thanks for sharing! Stay safe and warm!
🙏❤🇺🇸
So far the forecast looks good for kidding palooza !!
Yay! Can’t wait til kids come along… such pretty goats.
Thank you!
So so so excited for kidding season! Really hoping all goes well and you get the doeling/buckling ratio you are wanting! Loved seeing a lil mini tour of all the ladies due soon, they are all just so sweet. I think Elsa definitely has at least 3 if not 4. I do also hope you get some more wattles, I think they are cute - their cuteness makes up for Shindy's feistiness haha. I really appreciate you sharing your persective on goat management, so valuable! If I was already set up with a homestead and goat keeping capable, I'd totally go for Breezy/Elara - I do adore them. So excited to see what comes out of Clover. Who am I kidding, I'm just excited for ALL THE GOATIES! 💚💚💚💚
SAME. It is going to be an awesome year!!
Iv never been this early! Good way to start the day!
So exciting! All the girls look great! Happy, healthy kidding!🎉
Thank you, I'm so excited!!
I am so excited for you! You are so in your element girl ❤ I love seeing your excitement and it makes me excited too!!!
Oh man wait until that crazy kidding week! SO much excitement!
@@SageandStoneHomestead 🤩🤩❤️
Your herd is gorgeous ❤
Thank you!
So excited for Elara. I love the waddles. ❤❤
Thanks for sharing your herd management practices and explaining why you made the choices you have. I also believe medication should be used only when it is needed for animals or humans.
More wattles!!!!!!!! 🥰 I am so excited for all the new babies!
I am such a sucker for wattles!! We have two chances for wattles coming out of Elpis and Shindy!
@@SageandStoneHomestead Can't wait!
soon BCDG Lacy line, Nefarious grand dame, I can’t wait. So excited for them all. 😊
Yes!! Lacy line in mini lamancha form! So excited. Nefarious' Winnie will freshen fall 2025 too and we get to see the udder improvement!
Good morning! Super cold here in southern Ohio this morning, but the sun is shining! Have a great day!
COLD here too but yes, grateful for the sunshine !
They're almost here. Looking forward to more Goat Babies
Crazy how fast this crept up!!
i have 4 or 5 due early April. I bred them to a higher quality buck so I cant wait to see what we get. I have another buck with wattles, I hope he passes it on. Kidding season is always so exciting!
Super exciting ! I hope you get wattles!
I am so excited for kidding season, it's my favorite topic on your channel.
Well, I just did CD&T shots yesterday for all my goats …I have never done this before. BUT I did NOT realize that there is a preservative containing mercury 😮 in it. I don’t use manure for garden yet but you definitely have me thinking!! I don’t want mercury sitting on my land anywhere to be honest. I appreciate you bringing this up …..I feel like everyone pushes the CD&T shot for goats health but doesn’t talk about negatives for human health!! I AM aware now lol 🤦♀️
Hugs. It is a sensitive topic on social platforms so I tried to tread lightly and just state my personal reasons for not wanting to do it. ♥
@@SageandStoneHomestead I appreciate you doing this!! It helps bring things to my attention that I otherwise really would have no idea existed lol 🤦♀️
@SageandStoneHomestead I also appreciate you saying something about CD&T. I don't have goats yet, but I hadn't heard anyone from the channels that I watch, not v a c c i n a t e for it, so thank you for that.❤
@@sounditout34 You bet. It's something that does get highly criticized, so it's not mentioned much. ♥
Highly reccomend Silverline Hoof trimmers! So much easier than the green tractor supply ones. I have a heard of 30 that I care for myself and it makes it so much easier to handle hoof trims
I have some but I lost them!! I bought these ones while I try to locate the nice ones haha
How exciting, my first kidding this year. My daughter really wants a lamacha so bad so we’ll see.
Can't wait to see all the babies!
Me too!! Tizzy losing her mucus plug!
@SageandStoneHomestead oooo! Very exciting! Can't wait to see all the first freshners udders as well!
Yay! Beautiful Elsa is due on my birthday! 🙂
Elpis is due that same day!
@ This makes me happy….you’ll have to name the first girl “Leslie”. LOL! 😉
Thank you for speaking on the CD&T. I have searched and search for some info against giving it and haven't found any until this video! We gave ours about a month ago but i don't think we will redose next year.
Zo spannend! Heb er helemaal zin in. 🎉
How very exciting to see how well the first fresheners' udders are progressing! I do think at least one of the triplets are carrying triplets too. Now I can't remember which one, but her udder looked the fullest of the three. And I agree Elsa might be carrying triplets or even SNS's first quads - that momma is HUGE! LOL Or maybe it's because she's a big goat that she looks bigger. We'll see when it's her time to deliver! I do hope Tori doesn't have any kind of parasite bloom right after delivery, but it's good you'll be prepared if she does.
Yes we will keep a close eye on her and all the other mamas! ♥️
Awesome video! (although I did miss the intro music 😂). I took notes so I’m all prepared!! Thank you. ☺️
Question: the fact that Elpis is hard to milk, that is a Elpis trait and won’t be passed down to daughters?
I’m soooo excited to see Tori’s baby! And Elara’s for Addie, of course. ❤
We don't know that for sure yet. I wanted to keep all daughters from different sires their first year to freshen them so I can see what happens with them before I decide to sell any. Havoc was great about throwing softness (and capacity) onto his Nigerian daughters (and breezy) so I have hope!
I do not give the cdt vaccine either. I have never had any issues . I share pretty much the same concerns as you do and won't do it.
I would love a video on how you keep track of who is bred to who because then can't be inbred right? To me, looking to get into goats it seems like a lot to keep track of! Thanks!
Right it's best to not breed them closer than 10% related genes, all the goats (except Margie) are registered and their papers have the pedigree list on them so that helps! I so far I am able to pretty well remember relations to each other off the top of my head but I also tend to buy in new genetics frequently.
Ahh my favorite was first! I adore Tori ☺️ I wonder if Elsa will surprise you with quads?!
Do you have a link for the website you used to test casein genetics?
She is getting SUCH a cute bump!!
What I did for the casein is go through the MDGA and their Davis Testing. We have a membership with them. You might be able to do it through UC Davis directly. But this is where I went: miniaturedairygoats.net/genetic-testing-online-application/
Heather I know you are much more experienced than, I but keep reading about frozen babies! Please protect your sweet babies!! I decided this year not to give CDT though I did last year.
Where are you reading about frozen babies? The mamas have not given birth yet so all the babies are safe :)
On goat Facebook groups so many are finding frozen babies since they had birthing days before they thought and they were not home.
I think I have read about 20 dead babies in the last month. I am just sad.
Wow, that is sad! We will keep a close eye on the mamas. It's not supposed to be freezing here on kidding week. I have a couple cameras in the barn I check from my house and a few heat lamps :)
Love your videos and I have learned so much.
When I first saw tizzy I thought Christine at first glance
She's from the Christine line! Looks a lot like grandma, even in the udder!
So exciting!!! Now, since you machine milk too, are you worried about teat size? (especially with the Nigerian Dwarf influence I would guess teat size is smaller?)
I always worry about teat size because hand milking is definitely my favorite and I think it's important to not breed out valuable traits like long teats. The majority of home milkers milk by hand and the machine doesn't care either way :) I use the same inflations for the big and small teats when I need to pull out the machine in spring. I specifically bought Mooche to maintain long teats :)
@@SageandStoneHomestead that is something that I have to breed back into my girls. Up until this year I was using bucks just to get babies, (and some of those does have teeny tiny teats!) but now I am trying to improve my girls and will be more picky about what buck I use. I even kept a LaMancha buckling that was born last year because of this. He has great genetics behind him (capacity and udder attachments and his grand dam had big teats and easy to milk) My Nubian buck is supposed to have some great stuff too, you just never know what genes are going to be present. This will be his first kid crop. It feels like I am just starting with goats but I have had them for 6 years. (I had to start my life over 4 years ago when my son and I escaped an abusive marriage so I am not where I wanted to be, but I'm slowly getting there) I don't have registered or very many purebred does but I really want them to look great and have the capability to produce for a long time.
Heather, we are in the middle of our first kidding season with dairy goats. Our nubian girls have huge udders and we have already noticed that we are going to have a surplus of milk on the homestead. Some health issues put us behind schedule so we were unprepared for milking. I have ordered the starter kit from hamby dairy products so we can properly filter and transfer it but I wanted to ask if you had any tips or if you could suggest one of your videos for us to start with as new milkers. Thanks a bunch. We love your channel
I have videos on hand milking and how to rain goats and other videos on my routine with the milking machine. Would those be helpful?
@@SageandStoneHomestead yes ma'am I've seen a lot of your videos on milking, (we are pretty proficient on hand milking) but we have never milked for us to consume only to help with bottle babies. I guess my main question is supplies that you recommend and safety steps to make sure we keep it clean and healthy.
@@Fiddlefernfarmstead Awesome! Here is our springtime milking routine: ruclips.net/video/G5Tj9OE6IW4/видео.html
I don’t understand how anyone could not like waddles? Wattles?
Thank you for all the information on cdt I love hearing about why and why not people use it on their farm! We vaccinate and I’m sure always will but it’s great to be aware of the pros and cons!
Do you disbud your kids?
Yes! Figuring out the disbudding for myself is one of the skills I'm so glad I learned!
@ nice! I only ask because I know atleast in the show world everyone is very anal about making sure kids either have cdt antibodies from dam or are given their cdt before disbudding, I actually won’t disbud other people’s goats unless they receive their cdt (I say I but really my fiancé does it because I’m sensitive 😂)
It’s nice to see that it is possible to still disbud and not lose large amounts of kids to tetanus!
Yeah we disbud and band here, accidentally trim hooves too short sometimes and have random wounds and hoof splits occasionally and no issues at all with tetanus so far.
@ that’s good!
❤❤❤
❤❤❤☕🕊️
Good morning! I just poured coffee :)
I have a question! My goats are due in about 37 days but I haven’t felt the babies yet. Is that ok?
Sometimes they are hard to feel. I am not great at it until they are 4 months bred which you are getting close to that!
@ Yay! This will be my third kidding. I’m so excited! Thank you!!
How long after albus had her meningeal worm did you decide to breed her? Has she had problems giving birth? I have a goat recovering now
She had the worm over the late spring and early summer her first year and after treatment she gained weight really well and was bred that fall. Gave birth to triplet does with no issues! :)
Okay I have a ? I’m wanting to breed mini lamanchas I have 2 females already .i have a standard Nigerian male and I have a mini lamancha buck not related he took more to the Nigerian side but I would like a lil bigger baby’s bc we do for meat also should I replace the mini lamancha buck ?or is my whole set up wrong ?
That's up to you! Standard kids are the largest and can grow quite fast. You want to make sure to breed a standard buck only to standard does unless you know for sure a smaller doe is good and wide and capable.
Arsenic if in old crop fields or lead if consuming bone broth scare me.
Indeed! Definitely one of those things that is hard to control, so far no odd testing for these things on blood panels so I think we are good at this point! There had been horses on this land for a little over a decade before we moved here. Maybe somehow the horses took all that up?
Seeing how all ur girls are due within a week does that mean they all matched there heat cycles? I have heard of that happening but didn’t know if I it was real.
Yes!! The two due in March were cycling at the same time but Mooche was too short to get the job done. I decided to hold off on giving him a booster until the next cycle to spread things out a little!
Ohhh you’re gonna be one busy goat Mama!! I can’t wait! Lovely animals ❤
Before I start watching all I have to say is Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. lol
RIGHT?! I just came in from refreshing water buckets and I don't know how long it will take for my face to thaw out lol
I'm going to guess Elsa is going to have 4
YEAH she looks bigger every day and is not due until the 8th!!
