- This is the easiest way to install a towel rail to a tiled wall. The process of how to install a towel rail will also apply to almost every other bathroom accessory as the mounting brackets are generally the same. The way i installed the towel rail also known as a towel bar if my own personal method for a fast , easy and level finish every time. A towel rail rack is an easy DIY task that anyone can do. You can keep the centre punch bill, too dangerous especially if the tile is a little drummy.
Also when I install towel rails on tile I use the horizontal grout line as a reference for level.
If the tile installed slightly out of level you can sight the rail with the grout line and draw attention to it.
I know it goes against every instinct to install anything out of level but it’s all about the eye test aesthetics especially with large tiles.

Throw small $$ for laser level definitely help ( if you install accessories all the time) home DIY this method is perfect. I never use hammer function for my drill at Tile surface may crack it. Centre punch and good masonry bit are very important. Thanks Bill
A laser level is something I’m looking at getting for other jobs. Regarding bathroom fixings, the method I have just showed works perfect 👍

Definitely would not use a centre punch on tiles, liable to crack the tile. I usually put tape, pilot hole and drill out with appropriate bit. Use screws with a parallel thread for the fixings. Enjoy watching your channel...
Thanks for posting the video. My towel rail wall fixing is tightly secured to my tiled wall, however over time the actual towel rail keeps working its way loose from the wall fixing bracket. Do you have a solution as I have to keep pushing the towel rail back to the wall and retighten the bottom grub screw every few months.

Insane using a centre punch on tiles. Even worse using the hammer action of the drill.

Hi there Bill - do you have any tips on why my towel rack keeps falling off? My unit is exactly the same as the one you installed. The unit is tight, but over time the tiny grub screw works its way loose and eventually the rail will fall. The round disk attached to the tiled wall is secured, the issue is the actual grub screw. I installed a more robust screw (Philips head) and tightened but it also comes loose.
Have you ever broken or cracked a tile using the auto centre punch?? I'd be too scared😂

Lol, sounds like you have porcelain tiles. You can only drill a few holes with a new drill bit before it goes blunt. You can try diamond coated hole saw bit but they are a bit expensive. You can just buy a few cheap drill bits and Hopefully you don’t have too many to drill

Plaster wall you ideally would want to screw the bracket to the studs, however the spacing between studs and location of the towel rail dosnt allow for this most of the time. You would need to use mounting anchors into the wall. Many different products out there to choose from, easiest one would be one called a wall mate

Exactly the same process, just make sure you use a drill driver on hammer function and not an sds hammer drill so you don’t crack the tiles 👍

Never EVER use hammer action on tiles!!!
The design of these things isn't the best the threads for the grub screws flog out over time and the racks continually fall off. There are other types that work better. Great in the beginning though

Do stud finders work through tiles? I'd want to screw into the studs.
