Yes, the TV sign-offs with our National Anthem being played , most patriotic. It was when it came to a point where you'd watch it & have no option to go to sleep for the night. then they went 24- hour mode. what the heck happened? I mean once they went 24-hr. they play prerecorded programs or infomercials.

Very nice! Plus, for the courtesy of you and others who view this, the words of our national anthem were penned by Francis Scott Key in the aftermath of the British attack on Fort McHenry during the War of 1812 upon seeing the American flag still waving over the fort that morning and below are Mr. Key's words if you want to read them while listening or sing along as you stand with your hand over your heart. The anthem begins at the 3:56 mark. O say, can you see? By the dawn's early light, what so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming, whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight, o'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming. And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air, gave proof through the night that our flag was still there. O say, does that Star-Spangled Banner yet wave o'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

A quaint reminder of a time when Late Night TV wasn't a wasteland of infomercials. 🌝

Thank you for this upload! Sign-offs are such a cool thing to see for as rare as they are anymore.

WTVG in Toledo (NBC affiliate then) had a similar "Meditations" program at sign off too.

A very good reflections, based in reality.
I've seen this National Anthem video before, it's the one discussed in a video by ScareTheater.
Brings back memories of pre-cable television in Chicago, vhf 2,5,7,9 and PBS 11. Also uhf 26, 32 and 44 (White Sox games).
And 38!?
How many other TV stations aired E.T. so early in the afternoon? They must have done a 60-minute 6pm newscast then.
Very nice!

So many questions in this anthem.
Does Anybody Know Who The WMAQ Tv Announcer Is Who’s Doing The Sign Off????
