I learned that if you palm mute slightly with the right hand it makes it much easier to get a clean sound on those hard stretches, especially that 2nd chord shape

@@mikagodskesen7442 Summers plays it in the A position going down to F# then D then E. On the bridge he plays an F and G. The recording is not exactly on Ab but is somewhere between that and A.
Thanks mate, but this is the hardest chord finger stretch of any song I've tried.🤭 I'm sure many Sting fans who love guitar will suffer Carpal Tunnel syndrome if they try to play it the Standard way. haha.😅 Cheers!
The only problem with this tab is that on the orignal recording they are tuned 1/2 a step lower, i've went to see videos of them playing it live and Andy starts on the 5th fret not on the 4th
I find it funny how I overly complicate this by putting my ring on the fifth fret instead of alternating the index (same with the second formation, I just barre the entire first fret). It's easier for me idk.
Just put a capo om the first fret and you'll spare yourself some finger stretching. This song has some variations throughout that are kinda hard to remember.
I'm a 5'4 grown ass man with the smallest hands I've ever seen in any adult man here in Mexico city, and I am looking for a shorter scale guitar to play songs like this. I can handle 3rd to 7th string stretches found in avenged sevenfold songs in a fender scale guitar, but this song and some other ones by opeth are too much for my teeny hamster hands. Has anyone else thought of this before? If so how did it go?
Spider man fingers.. my hands are to old to start 4 frets.. I think.. and both ellbows in tenniselbows... but I always think .. May be?? only 68 years so perhaps i can try and start... otherwise you never know if you can or can't....
Andy summers actually plays it in A, exactly the same but a fret up. This is only a mm or two less of a stretch but is actually easier. The original must have been downtuned or slowed down. Here they are doing it in A in 2008. ruclips.net/video/wdS-jpFgRo4/видео.html
"Every stretch you take
Every ligament you break"
- Stevie T
very accurate. I can play this but not for too long lol
every wrist you break
Ahahahaha
That's kinda true
It seems daunting at first but actually after a while it's manageable.
Trick were to not push the string to hard with your left finger.
Yes .... agree! I can't stretch my fingers that far!
@@redcomn my thumb hurts so much bro
Every Stretch You Take
Every stretch you make might even be better lol
ㅋㅋ😂
This is really good exercise for fingers.
so is japan by yot club and it doesn't make your wrist explode
I was just telling someone about these "painful" chords I use to play...and here they are---LOL
5 STARS!

Thanks Van!
Van Halen?
Its times like these that learning classical guitar at a young age SAVED MY LIFE for all rock songs! But it still hurts ;)
I learned that if you palm mute slightly with the right hand it makes it much easier to get a clean sound on those hard stretches, especially that 2nd chord shape
Those sus2's and minor 7th give it that intense emotion, even before Sting starts singing. Really great writing on Andy Summers' part.
勉強になりました、ありがとう😊
The second formation at the start is the one that kills me the most but you killed it man!
You are a great boy
Thanks for this video

Again - another *perfect* tutorial .. just playing and the tab ! -- this express channel is my go to for learning new songs ! 🤘🎸
great song to warmup to
Andy plays it on the 5th and 2nd Fret, as The Police were tuned to E♭. I just thought it would be worth mentioning.
lmao idc if theres an acoustic version im still gonna play this on acoustic
Your fingers would need a cig after that
Este tutorial me ha encantado 😊

This song reminds of a stalker in a alley
After playing this song my arm becomes tough like a stone🤣🤣🤣🤣
Capo my friend, 1st fret. Then it's the easiest song ever
But that's the wrong way. This Is the right way to play it. Try and watch the song live at 2008. Andy summers does the same way like the tabs say

Oh, my whole live I've been playing it in A :D.
Still even here I prefer to bar the whole 1st fret at the Fsus2 or whatever TF that is :)
Great song, please monster from shinedown, greetings from Mexico
nice sound !!! which PU position you use to play ??

For a more painful but actually a good warm up, tune to Eb and move everything one fret higher
Can you please do Texas Sun by khruangbin and Leon Bridges? Thanks!

kindly do a tutorial on jacy james anderson's song what are we waiting for ( mahogany sessions) thanks in advance

GUYS, don’t give up! When you learn this, you’re gonna feel like every song you’ve learned before is now super easy!
Lol that’s the spirit!

its good for fingers excercise ..
fine
Every bone you break,Every string you shake,Every crack you make,Every scream you say
This is the octopus chords and squid power chords, that hurts 😂
Way easier if you drop the low E down to D. You don't have to make any stretches longer than 2 frets.
Is this in standard tuning?

Yo try use a capo on the first fret, won’t make your hands bigger but it will make this song easier
is this standard tune?
When playing this, the bridge is like a pitstop 😂
Is this the original pitch at Eb
standard tunning?
Yeah

There's an acoustic version where it uses a capo on the first fret
I've got cramp
Is there a bit delay in this version?
is it really no way possible to make decent finger notation so that add9 chords are played easier?

Every wrist you break, every ligament you brake 💀
hello friend make a video of you playing every break you take only the sound of the guitar
Nah
First
every ligament you break
Every stretch you take
Every ligament you brake
-stevie T
Great! I also covered it in my channel!
For me tge chords are easy it’s the picking patterns that is hard
Every pinky you break
Summers plays it in the A position.
Yes I think they slowed down the recording its somewhere between standard tuning and e flat
I actually think message in a bottle is even trickier. Very tough on the wrist.
who sings in this track?
His name is Eric Ben :)
Tunning?
Sound like a bass line
In the third bar instead of playing that 5 on the D string play 0 on the G string and save yourself having to get wrist surgery LOL
every finger is break
No esta en A ?
this shit hurts on acoustic
ar these fingers????
*googles finger stretching device*
😂
This song is literally stretching your finger 😅😅😅
Ahh crap i think i got a cramp in my hand
Why is the tab in E? It's in Eb. E is just making a hard song even harder.
