The cheapest paddle on Amazon Vs the new CRBN 3x Power Series. You won't believe the results...
Good video, but I think a more useful comparison would be the Activator vs a paddle in the $75 range for beginners. Realistically, no one who can afford to invest $230 in a paddle is even going to consider the low end one, so comparing them might be fun and entertaining, but not extremely useful. I started with a no name set of 4 from Amazon ($70 for all 4 with balls and carry bag), it's still a graphite/carbon 7.8oz, T700 elongated, textured paddle and has been great for learning the game. It was a great decision not to invest $200 straight away because now I have a much better idea of what specs I'm looking for in a paddle. For me, rather than spin, I'm more focused on the swing weight and the twist weight of the paddles I'm looking to upgrade to. I would simply not have known how important that is to me before I actually played regularly for several months. Also, nothing goes to waste once I upgrade because I now have a decent set of paddles for family and friends to use when they visit.
Another interesting comparison would be to compare a "high end" paddle to the an inexpensive fiberglass paddle (I've seen them for $15 for two) or an inexpensive supposed carbon fiber paddle (I've seen these for $30 for two) or the cheapest genuine carbon fiber paddle if the one I mentioned previously isn't really carbon fiber.
I’ve been using a fairly inexpensive paddle, and I’ve noticed that the dead spots on the outer rim present some of the most challenging shots to handle. Over time, my mind has learned to adapt to the limitations of this equipment. The unique feel of the paddle requires me to be more strategic in my play.
For instance, when I hit a shot that lands in a dead spot, it can often result in a 'dead ball' a shot that barely makes it over the net, leaving my opponent in a unfavorable position to respond. This situation demands precise timing and technique, as these weak shots can be very hard to execute effectively.
I've found that this experience has taught me a lot about anticipating my opponent’s reactions and adjusting my strategy accordingly. I’m forced to think critically about each shot, focusing on placement and control rather than power alone. In a way, using this paddle has become a valuable training tool, sharpening my skills and enhancing my overall game awareness.
It sounds like you've learned to make the most of your current paddle! That's what pickleball is all about!
@stspickleball After watching your video, I realized that the psychology around my equipment was affecting my performance. The paddle I was using had noticeable dead spots, and knowing that, while on the cheaper side gradually crept into my mindset, leading me to unconsciously attribute every misstep to the paddle itself. This mental block prevented me from finding my rhythm over the past few days. I decided to invest in a new paddle, thanks a whole lot! 😳
@ hey that’s fair. But don’t beat yourself up too much. It’s not easy out there and you were doing what you had to do financially I’m sure etc. you’re going to love your new paddle though!
It’s not the paddle…it’s how well you use it.
I can crush in pro leagues with the $11 paddle?
Love the activator!
Yes. What a fun review! We bought 4 really cheap paddles off Amazon when we started playing pickleball. It would be interesting to play with that first paddle again. It said in the description it had a carbon fiber face (Liars!). I couldn't do anything with that paddle. But I don't know enough about paddles to understand why it was so lame... balance maybe among other things. Anyway, thanks for your great review!
Awww thanks for the comment and I agree! It’s a huge difference between them!
Where do I start? Newbie here a dozen games in with a $10 paddle....where do I go for a $30-$50 option?
Tell me I don't need to go to a $230 paddle NOW....
No, honestly there really isn't anything great in the 30-50 range. I would highly recommend grabbing a J2K from Honolulu Pickleball which is $135 after discount STSPICKLEBALL. It's kevlar, super durable, and will last a long time. My favorite paddle of 2024.
I barely got the cheap paddles on a sale 2 paddles and 2 balls for 7.00USD not even knowing what pickle ball is but I liked it anyone know what’s the best paddle around under 100?
J2K from Honolulu is incredible for close to $100. If you’re trying to be specifically at or under $100 I would say the Neonic Force.
Jesus that thing sounds crazy heavy! I’m a little bit prone to tennis elbow, so I don’t know if I’d even try that one 😱
Lol yeah, I did this mostly for entertainment value to see what it's like using a $10 paddle when we have so much to choose from these days. Pretty freaking hilarious right?

@@matrixmulisha 😂😂
Heavier paddle will help your tennis elbow.
Lol thankfully there's no such thing as a slUdgehammer.
😂😂 love this comment
Interesting, but not even a fair comparison, 2 different markets
Yeah honestly I just did this one for fun :)
