  • The water was amazingly clear, would be great on a warm summer day! Awesome hike, we only did 3.2 miles here due to our failure earlier at the Baker Lake Trail. To do the entire trail it is 5.2 miles roundtrip. A person can also get on the Baker Lake Trail at the bridge and hike south for 10-12 miles. The end of the Baker River Trail has a camping area, sounds like it would be a lot of fun. Camping in the parking lot with a van, truck, or car is also a possibility. NW Forest Pass or a National Park Annual Park Pass is required.

I am in Western Washington. Around the Seattle area so our driving circle is 3-4 hours in any direction.

What are the odds of running into bears during these hikes?

There are bears in Washington but no grizzlies yet, they plan on re-introducing them soon. We have bear spray on days we remember to bring it, as far as I know there have been no people killed by bears in Washington in a long time.
