RIP Shaun Martin, it was special knowing that someone as insanely talented as you could be just as blown sway by your band mates as the rest of us plebs!
My favourite part is when the band comes back in and Shaun gets back to the keyboard... he's so serious! They all know that what Cory just did was magic, and they have to nail the rest of the take. RIP, Shaun, you legend.
His admiration is palpable. This is true awe, respect, and rivalry personified. And I think we all went through those same emotions the first time we heard/watched this as well.
Every single time I've watched this, from the very beginning, I start laughing at the same moment Shaun does, every single time. It's just too much lol.
Impossible, Saun is so confident and sure of himself. This is just him acknowledging the talent before him! That is a skill too many misicians lack sometimes!
Shaun knows, when your boy is flat killing it, you gotta give it up and go with that! Killer musicians can still have their minds blown by other killer musicians, and when it's your partner, it's just that much sweeter.....that's the whole point, aint it???
he goes on a real hero's journey with this: from the unwilling call to adventure, to the all hope is lost moment (taking off headphones), to the return (but everything has changed)
His reactions are just pure, and lovely, and further add to this superb solo. If you liked him as a player before this, you gotta love him for his personality after this. I've watched the video more than 30 times, always waiting to see this again and again, and loving it every time.
I remember the first time I watched the original video, Shaun’s reactions to Corey’s solo made it even better. If there was one song that I wish I could experience for the first time again, this is unequivocally it.
As a guitarist, my goal in life is to have a fellow guitarist look at me the same way that Shaun looked at Cory. That's all that matters. I have my purpose, but to have recognition from your peers is another.
Shaun Martin is such a cool dude. Saw him play a solo show in St Louis, and him and his band jammed their way out of the building. I recorded it and he got right into my camera and sang the song. Plus the show positively jammed. I can tell he just has a fucking blast playing and appreciating music.
same thing here, I kew it was special but I didn't understand it. howerver seeing great musicians reacting like that means theres something real hot going on.
OK -- so it ain't just me. Watching his face was one of the hottest parts of this performance. Simply put: "Game recognize game" and both these cats have BIG game on that axe.
Shaun: ಠ_ಠ

Oh my god, this is so cute, never thought I'd connect so much with a comment

I just heard that Shaun has passed away. A very sad day indeed.

yes, my first thought after this was definitely to rival cory henry. Who knows, maybe in the far future.
LOL. I always wonder if he is thinking 'did I just lose my gig?'
Impossible, Saun is so confident and sure of himself. This is just him acknowledging the talent before him!

He is amazing too.
I thought the same thing and watched a video where he plays the solo. Conclusion : he is killer too!

I only know a jazz solo is good if someone listening makes faces
You know it's amazing if the person making faces has multiple grammys.

That happens also in churchs where I play!

I wanted to make this video, but I'm glad to see somebody has already done it. Thank you man, the world needs more people like you.
RIP Shaun Martin 💔

Shaun Martin is an absolute beast. His reaction to Corey going off was one of the most beautiful subtexts of that video.
RIP Shaun Martin
Rest in peace and power, Shaun.
Whoever did this vid... Your purpose for this life is complete. God bless u sir

rest in peace
Homie really contemplated his whole life during this solo
RIP
I'm so glad that someone made this. The solo is pretty good y'know but Shaun's reactions are what really make it
My favorite part of any of these snarky puppy videos. His reactions just make the solos even more amazing.

Looooooool epic
That look of utter disgust
They should’ve set up a camera to just focus on Shaun’s face through the whole solo.
Rest in peace ❤️❤️🕊️
There's a mixture of worry and admiration
😢
I never knew how much i needed this in my life.
always love watching his reactions on this solo and to top it off there is the obvious "GOD DAMN!" after the celebration. Love it every time :)
I'm crying. This is beautiful. The person who edited this is a freaking genius. God bless
When one renowned jazz pianist is mesmerized by another, perhaps even greater jazz pianist - this probably means something.

so much respect!
This is my new favorite video on the internet
His reactions are art in of itself
Shaun really was the unsung hero of this entire video. I'm glad he's finally getting the recognition he deserves. A slight has been rectified.
Glad to see RUclips is finally starting to catch on
Shaun literally had to go take a seat in the back
Shaun & Cory are great musicians. 🔥🎶🎹
Oh my God, this is music and the feeling you get from it.
Thanks for this, was one of the many best parts of the original video.
Being an amateur, the first thing i was hooked about in lingus, was his reactions, until i started getting along with the music
same thing here, I kew it was special but I didn't understand it.

I never noticed how wide-eyed Shaun was until now.
HAHAHAHAHA Shaun Martin be like: DOOOOOOOOOD! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
0:06 inner Shaun: "Yo, I think that's the final take"
He kept looking around like “did that really just come out of that dude? Is anybody else processing this at all?”
Dang he even got the one in the reflection of the glass

my favorite part of the whole lingus video
I've seen the original video a hundred times, and his reactions are THE BEST. :D

Life is so unfair. Shaun Martin I miss him
You don't even have to be a lip reader to know what Sean said at the end of this video.
