  • At a feedlot for beef cattle in Nebraska, veterinarian Lynn Locatelli shows how they handle the large cattle with comfort and low stress, a model of animal husbandry. There, a cowgirl and cowboy empty a pen of cattle simply by walking back and forth in a driving maneuver without scaring or prodding the animals.
    Feedlot owner Tom Williams says handling cattle with low stress is essential to success. Dr. Locatelli adds, "The dollars that go through feedlots is in the millions of dollars. Feedlot owners see the value in training their handlers in low-stress handling."
    Veterinarians On Call is presented by Zoetis and features vets on the job and their clients across the U.S. who volunteered to be filmed, those appearing were not compensated to participate and the opinions expressed are theirs.

    I've never seen such a lovely, caring video about leading living beings to slaughter...

    this is insane. its "fun"? yeah no. its terrible to kill them. and dont say " oh theyre just animals who cares" because we are animals too technically. but hey " who cares" anyway!1!!1!11!1!1!!1 This is just cruel. smh

    I grew up on a large working farm in South Dakota so I know of what I speak. One of the first things I look for when I see a herd of cattle, as those in the first part of the video, is a windbreak or shelter of some sort. I saw no protection from the wind/cold for those animal. Do these animals live any semblance of a normal cattle life, or are they feedlot-bound?

      Did you know that if we didn't kill and eat animals that they would become overpopulated and spread diseases? These diseases would kill humans AND animals. that is why there is hunting seasons and we are allowed to butcher cattle. GET INFORMED!

      Kirsten Williams You need to get informed regarding the health hazards of carnism (cardiovascular disease, immune and autoimmune disease, cancer risk, obesity, etc.) and how wasteful of world resources is this awful practice. Heart disease and stroke are the number one killers in the western world, are by far the biggest expenses in American health care system, and are UNKNOWN where animal foods are not eaten in the staple diet. Animal production is the #1 source of greenhouse gases polluting the atmosphere. In the western world upwards of 70% of the calories grown with agriculture are wasted in feeding animals for slaughter, to recoup less than 10% of their food value and waste 1000x fresh water and energy. Have you heard of Swine flus, MRSA, E-coli break outs and Mad Cow Disease? Mishaps and problems with animal husbandry are currently the worst sources of disease on the planet. People get the word slowly, just like with tobacco, old bad habits die slowly, but as fewer and fewer people use a product, less is produced. We are not going to be over-run by dairy cows.

      If we didn't kill them they would artificially inseminate themselves? Weird. I didn't know cows could order semen to be shipped to them and inject it into themselves.
      Cows are BRED, by supply and demand. The more consumers buy = the higher the demand = the more supply producers produce.
      Fewer people buying animal products = the lower the demand = fewer animals bred in order to supply that demand.
      That's how businesses work.
      Have you noticed you don't see mountains of Pogs, VHS tapes, and 8-Tracks as if businesses are forced to produce an exact number of products no matter what the demand actually is.
      Why are there more cow meat farms than horse meat farms? (Difference in demand)
      Why are there more chicken meat farms than alligator meat farms?
      (Difference in demand)
      Consumers' purchases are the DIRECT CAUSE of all this. Producers go where the money is.

    The vet says "I love cows"….the farmer says "It is important for the cows to have comfort"…yet they both are working for their future slaughter…

      +Selma G Well.....that's what they are bred for

    • @VixenAurora

      ...and some dogs are bred for fighting.
      ...some cats are bred to be tortured in a lab.
      ...some puppies are bred to be crushed under women's stilettos for "crush videos" for horrible fetishes.
      ...even human beings are sometimes bred for horrific things.
      Just because someone forced a "purpose" on someone else's body before they were born, that doesn't make it right.

    Totally true, treating your animals right is just the right thing to do. I also find that my dogs taste better when they're humanely raised. (;

    Vets on Call: It's nice that you're trying to show that the cattle are treated well. Yes, I think that some cattle farms are fairly humane. But what you aren't showing is the part when the cattle get "processed". People need to know facts and this is just a little misleading!

    I think this cannel and videos are made up to say they are so good care, and they are, but to make us forget how is the end, and to say that all the carnivore industry make live all the animals that way, when they doesnt.... EARTHLINGS !!!!!

    Most of the people here in the comments know what their talking about. They don't realize that this has been happening for millions of years. Now is probably the most humane and understanding time in agriculture. People focus on the rare small part of non-humane agriculture way too much. I know because I raise cattle, hogs,etc.

    Unless you are raised on a farm or educated in agriculture. you really don't have a right to speak about agriculture. I really wonder how they get your lettuce to your table without bugs on it? If you don't think there was life killed or taken to bring lettuce to your table your sadly mistaken! so think about it. what life will feed more?

    • @VixenAurora
      @VixenAurora 7 лет назад

      Unless you run a dog-fighting ring, you really don't have a right to speak about dog fighting. Likewise, unless you produce crush videos, you have no right to talk about animal crush fetishes.
      Most plants people grow are fed to animals raised for food. So you're more responsible for bug deaths during harvesting than we are. Also, we don't INTEND to kill insects. We intend to eat lettuce. When you eat a pig, you INTEND to kill a pig. That is direct, intentional killing.
      Did you know that the use of cars results in care accidents and creates pollution that can harm humans? Might as well deliberately run people over for fun right? Same thing right?
